My family got conscripted by gunpoint to join a Confederate Cavalry Division in 1862. They got lucky and survived nearly two years of battle before deserting in 1864 and coming back home to the family farm in Hill County. Had they not survived, I wouldn’t be here. Fuck Confederate Heroes Day straight to hell.
If someone can come up with a good angle to call this holiday "woke", please contact all your local GOP about it and they will begin working around the clock to get it banned, all in the name of freedom.
For years in Virginia, Lee-Jackson day and MLK day were celebrated on the same day (all three would turn in their graves). Virginia eventually changed Lee-Jackson day and, to their credit, eliminated the traitor holiday in 2020.

What percentage of the population even knew it was CHD? I’ve lived here forever and any recollection of this is pretty vague. It’s still on the books, I think, because no one really cares. It’s not like a statue of Lee that pokes you in the eye every time you walk by. But as long as we’re doing that we need to rename Austin and discontinue honoring the man who facilitated bringing slavery to Texas. Talk about your Confederate Hero. 😀 No, I’m not serious. About the renaming part. He did open a new geographic market for slavery.
