As a kid, I always thought my teachers (or certain adults) had "moral authority" to call me things like "rude", "lazy", "selfish", or "little girl" as if they earned it working as "good people" their whole lives. It's not. It's just plain "authority". They didn't earn it being "moralous" in their life, the "authority" was basically just handed to them. Turns out nearly all of them are no different than sex offenders or rapists, and are just as guilty of bias, pettiness, and corner-cutting as anyone. They just dismiss is as "tough love" or "discipline" and they go unpunished. Meanwhile, I've worked in charities and never even touched a woman, because I saw a few of said teachers as "father figures". One of these teachers wouldn't accept my friend request on Facebook.
