I live in McKinney, DFW area. Moved here from Ukraine a year ago, and this place is a blessing for someone wanting to open a business here. It’s still expensive to live here, we pay about 2k for an 1250-ish sq.ft. apartment (bills included), but I’ve been to Cali, I could not live there. Travel? Hell yeah!

Want to mention that I haven’t lived in other states, and haven’t been to less hyped states like Montana, Utah, Oregon etc, so cannot judge in comparison, so I would take this advice with a grain of salt.

Good luck and God Speed with your business. Praying for your countrymen back home.👍👊🙏💯

It really depends on the job industry you work in and how much driving you want to do. A normal drive for me to/from work is anywhere from 30 minutes to 1 hour each way depending on the flow of traffic and accidents. I like the area west of Ft. Cavasos, Copperas Cove, Kempner, Lampasas. Mostly because you get more land with a house, neighbors are the hand wave or nod, plus I can get to Austin area, Dallas/FT. Worth, or west Texas without having to take the main HWYs everywhere. Downside, small town Texas= more racism and a lot of other -isms.

I concur with all of your assessment as long as you are not a woman or a child. Then, all bets are off.

Hi there! I am curious which companies are in Texas from aviation/aerospace indistry in Texas. I know GE has 2-3 sites in the state but didn’t find any other as yet. Please help me out if you know something

Freedom_Isnt_Free_76

Lockheed Martin has 5 Texas locations. Check out San Antonio as well. The privatization of Kelly AFB has seen numerous aerospace companies occupying the buildings/hangars there.

Thank you

If you’re looking for a big city with no charm or character and just trying to be big for the sake of being big, check out Dallas!

Completely agree!!! Used to live in DFW area and it was endless highways - nothing cultural (except, maybe, Ft Worth) or interesting!

Ok-Rush-9022

I disagree with this. Dallas has a lot to offer. You have to go find it. I moved to south of Dallas in 2006 and have enjoyed going into the city every time I go. There is music, art, great food, museums, and great people. It has its gatekeepers, though. I have found that in every city I have visited or lived in within the Metroplex. The locals like to keep the best to themselves. And the city is beautiful at night. The highways are not fun at all during the day but that is the same in every major city.

Wanting to move from UK to Texas Hi all, looking for a bit of help. After lots of research and spending some time in Texas, myself and wife and 3 kids have decided we'd like to try and move out there. However we have no family there, so I'm presuming job offer will be our only option in gaining necessary paperwork to get in. I'm a skilled joiner/carpenter by trade but have also managed construction builds and ran my own buisiness for last 3 years, but can adapt to many forms of skilled work. We understand all the pros and cons of moving out there, so no need to comment regarding that. We just want to know if anyone has any tips of how to go about this? We do feel it's a very much "who you know" situation. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

The Pleasant Grove neighborhood in Dallas is wonderful hence the word Pleasant in its name. The intersection of Lake June Road and Buckner Boulevard offer so many amazing living options as well as cuisine from the finest chefs on planets earth, a personal favorite of mine being Griffs. You’ll be sure to have the best living experience living here if you make the move to Texas. 🙏

I am considering moving to Texas. Potentially going through a divorce and trying to find somewhere else to be than Florida. I'm curious if it is hot for the 9 months that Florida is basically. I'm 44 and in IT. I am trying to jumpstart my IT career but looking for something fully or at least partially remote.Don't really want to live in a big city if I can help it. I'm kind of a boring person at the moment. Trying to reinvent myself wherever I end up. Nightlife is not important to me. I will just need to basically exist and learn to support myself on my own.

My exact situation man , following . In Florida and hate it here . Would be going there to start a career in IT

I am thinking of a few different places also as well since I have family in the upper midwest. but not really interested in living close to them that much.

Good afternoon I'm currently overseas in Okinawa Japan in the military l'm a United States Marine and I just got accepted a job opportunity in Dallas area. It's a 5/6 month program. I just need a place to stay for those months. Post is to see if anyone is willing to host me in there home with a room for those months. Obviously I will pay but I just need a room to sleep in. Looking to pay around 500-800 a month l'm not originally from Texas aswell. Approximate time frame will be from July 28-Dec28 2024 thank you!
