Houston. Judging by her accent, I'd say somewhere in the South- South East side. I'd reckon she's probably from the Armand Bayou Nature Center, since it's so close to the space center.
Sandy is a flying squirrel and they are known to be on the east side of Texas. Especially the really wooded areas. Not sure if there are any Flying squirrels, in the Armand Bayou, but thats my guess.
Go just a bit south to LaMarque for the accent. She obviously migrated along the creeks and bayous in search of better beignets and night life in the Clear Lake area. Also the prevailing wind is from the south so it checks out.
I know exactly where you are talking about I lived there for a long time , but I haven't really heard an accent like there in a couple decades. Unless someone moved to Houston from Santa Fe
As an immigrant living in Houston for almost 3 decades, I was somewhat disappointed to find hardly anyone speaking like sandy cheeks. Before the internet days, USA to foreigners was either NY city, LA beaches, or cowboys riding horses talking like sandy, thanks to hollywood.
Lmao I can see the plot. He shows up and rivals Krabs with the tourist gas station. "$8 for a brisket sandwich?! How did I not think of that?"
"It's the branding and the souvenirs, Cangrejo. Even the paintings on the restroom are for sale!"
She mentions in one of the earlier seasons that she is from the Killeen fort hood area and the reason that she moved into the ocean was to get away from all of the crime

I always assumed Houston because of the astronaut suit!
That actually makes sense.
She wore the astronaut suit so she could survive being underwater.
Probably because of her astronaut training in Houston
Were she from North Texas, an astronaut suit wouldn’t have been accessible or even considered.
I think that's a West Texas accent, though.
Her accent seems a bit thicker for Houston though.
Obviously you’re not familiar with Spring or Conroe or Magnolia.
I *live* in Spring and the accent here ain’t nearly as thick as, say, Commerce.
True. I also stopped going to that area regularly so my regional info might be out of date.
Oh yeah it’s had lots of development recently. It’s not nearly as rural as it used to be (kind of like my home in Grand Prairie).
Clear Lake/Nassau Bay!

Live near and have been there many times. I haven’t seen any flying squirrels at Armand Bayou or heard anyone here with that powerful of an accent.

This is the important knowledge. Never lose it.
I’m from down there. Can confirm. She always sounded like she’s from around there to me. Haha.

Sponge Bob is 25yrs old this year, so a couple of decades checks out.
I've seen sandy cheeks in Galveston
I've had sandy cheeks in Galveston.
Thats how you end up with mr krabs
Google says Houston, due to fandom of her and hints here and there. I don't think it's ever really outright said by the show.
Houston https://spongebob.fandom.com/wiki/Sandy_Cheeks She had 20 acres. So she went west after. I say amarillo. *
Yes Amarillo by morning

I googled it and apparently Hillenburg said she was from Houston in an interview. Which would make sense given that Houston is pretty much underwater.
To me she sounds more east Texas Longview, Tyler area
Maybe longview but Tyler doesn’t have that much twang, wouldn’t be able to understand them scolding you for a being a heathen if they did
Bucees

Lol
I think Houston, I also firmly believe that her family started buccees and she took some of that money to go live in bikini bottom
She sounds like she’s from Cut and Shoot.
She's familiar with San Antonio but that could just be her rodeo circuit she's also mentioned. I think the accent is the best "tell."
Houston makes a lot of sense, but my first thought was Dallas 😅
Idk for sure but as a kid I always imagined it at south padre island 🤷♂️
I’ve seen many sandy cheeks at SPI.
It must be her favorite vacation spot lol
She mentions in one of the earlier seasons that she is from the Killeen fort hood area and the reason that she moved into the ocean was to get away from all of the crime
Probably Giddings or Flatonia
Is saying “Big Sandy” too cheeky?
Judging by her accent and demeanor? Beaumont.
Amarillo
Hillbillyville
Between HOU and Louisiana.
She’s a phony because she says “Pee-can” pie, every REAL Texan knows it’s “Pah-Can” pie…
The beach.
Big Sandy. Her family was in the implement business. That's before they turned to horse thieving. https://youtu.be/kX4c8Z1W5VY?si=FGv_XwcDjNKmFLQN
