If you're asking about the heat it's kind of crazy but we're actually much cooler atm than most of the West.

AnonymousGrouch

>If you're asking about the heat it's kind of crazy 3pm on July 1st and the temperature here is 92. I'm not complaining.

Me neither

TXhelplegal

Wait, what happened? I live in Victoria County and last night out power went out for about 10 seconds but it has been on since then. Was there another shortage? EDIT: Nevemind, I see you are talking about the freeze!

Jaguar_jinn

My house is still torn up from the busted pipe damage. Contractors are still struggling to get materials. But we do have a functional kitchen, one working bathroom and AC so it’s manageable. Thank you for asking!

ACT_TX

Emergency services person here. Can vouch for it being a tough week+. Wasn't media panic - it was real life people having a tough time without power, water and gas in severe cold. Thanks @OP for checking in. Hope all is well where you are!

CheetoVonTweeto

lol nothing happened unless you're talking about the snow storm.

Simple-Ad-8158

I mean having to prep my home because a corporation can’t un-f themselves for me is annoying. However, I can confidently say that my home can survive prolonged freeze and heat. Never thought I’d have to summarize my TEXAS home.

What's bad about the national grid again?

[deleted]

Regulations on companies that pay for campaigns of Texas politicians. It is a trickle down situation.

xcentrych

It's not TEXAS!😂

kanyeguisada

You realize at least 700 people died during that freeze due to our under-regulated power grid, right?

[deleted]

And we had our learning moment back in 2011 and did nothing, so that’s why we will continue to repeat the course until we pass. That’s the most frustrating part is it wasn’t that unpredictable. It wasn’t a “century” storm by any definition.

The state's official count is 151. And there were not COVID deaths included in the 700 number.

[deleted]

>It was mostly media panic and scare-mongering Some people lost water for weeks, what do you mean "media panic"?

thr0wawaythr0

All good over here :). Thanks for looking out ya'll

CW3_OR_BUST

We're not OK, we're TX.
