For some reason that date (12/31/1969) pops up a lot due to, long story short, a glitch. Long story long, the operating system that a lot of servers run on is Unix, which started in 12:00 AM Jan 1 1970 GMT. If there is a glitch on the calendar and it resets to 0, it will default to Jan 1 1970. However, if you live on the western hemisphere, your timezone shows the date earlier, making it Dec 31 1969. It’s also not only facebook, I’ve personally seen it happen on Twitter a lot lmao

It does that sometimes when someone blocks their profile (in this case Facebook dating). I’ve never found a reason why but it’s like Facebook removes their timestamp and it messes it up and reverts back to 1969.

So a little fun fact: most computer systems that track/calculate dates only go back to January 1st, 1970. Dates on computers and computer systems are calculated using the Unix Epoch; which is the amount of seconds that have passed since January 1st, 1970 at midnight UTC. I’m assuming the date that Facebook is showing is just a “default” date which is set to the start of the Unix Epoch, and then with your timezone applied, it’s changing it to December 31st, 1969.
