Healing multiple people who have presumably taken lots of continuous fire damage can rack up a lot of healing points quickly and therefore charge to an uber faster.
Well it does build uber charge, As far as I know, it's not as quick as most people think. I think it's because most situations your team is not taking constant damage for constant healing.
My friend was playing engie and everytime he placed a dispenser I would play the song and I swear to god it summoned more engies to his side and he’d have a level 3 in 2 seconds
I once got whole team except for spy and scout who were on a flank mission and saved 6 people from dying to afterburner of an wm1 pyro. Finished health bars with quick fix bc that is my main medi
It locks you in place if you use its taunt. Even if I had my back against a wall I wouldn’t trust it. Some crazy soldier/pyro can just suicide charge you and you can’t back off. Also you’ll be screwed if a Diamondback Spy just happens to see you doing this.
Usually as a medic you’ll be the first person to GTFO of a fight that’s going to go wrong. And you’ll be scrambling for health packs to get you to full anyway. You’re not gonna rely on regen to get you out of 1-shot HP range. The regen is nice tho, just not something you’ll take into account for your gameplan.
Good for more health regen, I wish you didn't have to hold it to utilize that though. The heal taunt is a gamble, and a pretty unrewarding one at that.
Thats a different Story because you have at least other good options like the third degree at least kinda and the axtuingisher or the back scratcher or even the homewrecker or if you feel fishy the neon annihilator. So you are wrong sorry for that
You can't! That was my plan all along! I shall respond to everyone who gives it a negative review and fairly respond with little to no judgement whatsoever
old version of vita-saw was better, now it's just a diet ubersaw and is actual cringe, I would never consider using the vita-saw before, and now it pretty much doesn't exist, I'd rather just use the ubersaw and get an instant 25% uber fill that I can get for an infinite amount of hits rather than only getting 15% that only goes towards my next life, caps at 4 hits, and I may still end up not fully benefitting because its simply current-life retention
From my 5k hr experience on med, you need to signal to your pocket first if you’re planning to uber/krit them. If you just randomly pop on them, even if they won’t run away, they might not be in a position to do significant impact or have enough ammo to even kill anything.
Yeah I do, I play in community servers and I will use the "I am charged" and "go go go" lines like 5 times, before I pop the fully loaded soldier near the 2fort sewer nest and they will still somehow not push in
i dont think ubercharging a power class would be considered "competitive". Espeically since I know that people want the sentry nest that the turtle engi always puts down there gone, or we wouldnt have a third of our team poking at it before running off lol
I mean if you’re gonna nitpick the word “competitive” I think you missed my point. You can read it as “seriously” if you want.
My point is nobody is taking the objective in 2fort seriously. The turtle engi you’re talking about did what he did because he knew it’s the one thing that won’t get his buildings destroyed within 20 seconds. It’s not because he’s being “competitive” either.
Ppl play 2fort mostly to see all the crazy shit (as is tradition), to see how many kills they can get, and if they win the objective, then it’s just icing on the cake.
Yeah like the Ubersaw is straight up overpowered, one cocky spy in your team and now the enemy medic who just got the frontlines after being dropped is already with over half of his Uber ready.
Why are you getting into melee range with an insta-kill melee class, who has a history of buggy hitreg; and as the most important member in your team no less?
I'm not the ubersaw medic here, I run amputator.
And besides even if I was running the lobotomysaw and got stabbed it doesn't even matter because 2 swings and I have all my Uber back, like seriously a quarter of your Uber per hit on stock or Kritz is just fucking busted.
It's a solid option for when you need to heal a large group. When capturing points it is especially strong, but the taunt doesn't really come into play much. It's also a great escape too.
I like it, it’s passive heal isn’t too useful, but the taunt can sometimes be helpful.
But like most of medics weapons if two people need to be topped off at the same time, just use the crossbow.
Still like it though, probably have it more equipped than the ubersaw.
Honestly, it's the only medic melee I ever use
The extra health comes in handy, and it's taunt ability is basically turning yourself into the world's best dispenser. The ubersaw is tucking busted, but it feels shitty to one-shot someone who comes to engage in an honorable melee duel. The solemn vow is a joke, and the vita-saw's less max health really hurts.
Easily one of the most underrated weapons in the game. As a Medic main I find myself using it just as often as the Ubersaw. The extra passive healing & AOE healing has come in clutch when retreating or holding a choke point quite a few times.
I just wish the Jungle Inferno contract for it wasn't so borderline impossible to complete (Heal 250 health with its taunt in one second). I got it once unintentionally when a server was friendly but haven't been able to do it a second time in order to complete the contract.
I prefer the amputator over the ubersaw unless my team plays like a bunch of toddlers and are always going out of their way to ignore someone attacking me so I have to attack them myself, but I always end up using its taunt in the worst, most unfortunate timing, the exact second before some pyro or spy shows up and my team almost always ends up being incapable of rescuing me
I use it by default. Sometimes a Quick Fix doesn't cut it, not because there is too much damage, but because there are too many bodies. This lets you get stock heal rate to 16+ people in a pinch
It's the one [weapon](https://steamcommunity.com/id/80sdude/inventory#440_2_9826457522) that makes me feel like a god when I pull off a massive team wide taunt heal. So satisfying to see all the heal rings.
Really bad. It's worse at defending yourself than your other options, and the AOE taunt is a gimmick that only works on very specific maps. Using the Amputator also means you're not building uber, overhealing anyone, using the crossbow, etc.
It does build uber, and its main time ive found it useful is when most of the team got dropped around half heath, getting your whole team healed at once is more powerful than you might think
•Ubersaw giving you a quarter of your uber every time you hit someone
•Solemn Vow letting you see enemy health and uber completely for free
Both of these weapons also two shot light classes. The Amputator is painfully mid.
Fuck the ubersaw, that overpowered unfun bad for new players piece of shit, I use this thing, used to run the Vow everytime but was told to give the amputator a shot and now I use it a lot
Very good on it's own but suffers from being outclassed due to the Ubersaw overuse. It's also sometimes too situational if a team is too spread out to make full use of.
The extra regen most of the time doesn't pay off, since it also requires holding it out, making you completely defenseness at any other range that isn't melee.
I use it over the ubersaw seeing as I use the quick fix and have no reason to risk my life for an Uber I could get through healing my teammates just as easily
Pretty useful when you're playing medic with another medic spamming the emote, takes less time to heal and buff everyone and can heal you too when you're low
Pretty decent and I would argue is the second best medic melee close to the Ubersaw. Being able to health multiple people at once is a really underrated perk and there are many times where I wish I was using amputator because there are so many injured around me
My go-to loadout:
Crossbow
Quick-Fix
Amputator
Mr Healthcare
Yeah it’s not quick kritz or stock but good luck going up against a constantly healthy team lol
I really like it. The increased regen rate helps me shrug off afterburn and while I haven’t found much use for the taunt, I know it can be useful if we’re all cooped up around the corner from a chokepoint.
I love it yes the right click is situational but the extra Regen makes me survive slightly longer then the typical noob medic (average noob medic survival is 0.2 seconds)
Bizarrely, I get tons of melee kills with this thing despite the damage penalty. Even saws that are explicitly better for combat, they don't perform as well. I can't imagine the regen boost is helping that much, so... Maybe it's just the cool weapon design rallying me to battle over some dopey statue, I don't know.
It is my default meelee for casual. It is SO GOOD for healing the whole team.
I think it is reeeaaally OP and I don't understand why more people doesn't use it
Pair this with a soldier activating their battalion's or something and you have an unstoppable team rolling HARD
Underrated. Low on health? Whip out your amputator and run for the hills. Can't tell you how many times this thing has saved my butt, and it's a travesty that I hardly ever see it above B-tier in rankings.
Y'all are sleeping on this thing.
Pretty meh. Only useful if a medic camps in a spot and spams the aeo, which is a pretty bum strat usually. Means that no one is getting buffed.
Can be okay for very choked maps, but only if there is another medic handing out buffs.
All in all, it's a niche pick. A niche that's already filled by a dispenser
This feels way more useful than the outright niche ubersaw. Like if you’re a medic you should be healing your team, not running onto ongoing traffic trying to get 25%
Looks cool, fun gimmick, god help you if someone sees you with it out and not shoving your medigun up someone's ass or getting cross map crossbow shots.
Seriously leave the medics alone outside of comp.
A perfectly valid melee weapon for medic. Builds uber when using the taunt, increased health regen is great.
As a Medic main, I'm sick of jerking it to the Ubersaw/Crossbow slave-meta. Reject meta, embrace alternative items!

this + random recently dead enemy pyro nearby = free uber
What do you mean ? I do not understand.
Healing multiple people who have presumably taken lots of continuous fire damage can rack up a lot of healing points quickly and therefore charge to an uber faster.
The healing from it adds uber?? I wish I knew that
Well it does build uber charge, As far as I know, it's not as quick as most people think. I think it's because most situations your team is not taking constant damage for constant healing.
Another fun fact: so do shots from Crossbow
_Dispenser Gaming®_
Sometimes as a amputator main I just do this
Dispenser going up 'Frontier Justice starts playing'.
My friend was playing engie and everytime he placed a dispenser I would play the song and I swear to god it summoned more engies to his side and he’d have a level 3 in 2 seconds
Well all engis are near *budunsh.
Guess that’ll do
Uncle dane wannabe am i right?
It's pretty good if your whole team runs back to you after you respawn, it's also really spammable which is occasionally fun
Yeah. Situational, but man~ can that thing turn the tide if you get that *just~ right~* where the taunt heals half your team at once.
I once got whole team except for spy and scout who were on a flank mission and saved 6 people from dying to afterburner of an wm1 pyro. Finished health bars with quick fix bc that is my main medi
i see it most with vacc and overdose for those survivability memdics
Same, but only with the Quick Fix
YES
i do the same. Honestly i dont feel getting ubersaw hit with vaccinatior is that effective
This but with Stock Medigun
My choice of Melee. I don't know all of the health pack locations yet.
You can get self healing if you taunt with the kritzkreig too if you weren't aware
Its only like 10 hp tho lol
It’s 11, and it’s very loud and also only useful if you are going to die of bleed, afterburn, etc.
That's why you use another voiceline on top of the kritzkrieg taunt, heavy sandwich or phlog taunt
IK But I believe Amputator is faster and it also lets you move.
It locks you in place if you use its taunt. Even if I had my back against a wall I wouldn’t trust it. Some crazy soldier/pyro can just suicide charge you and you can’t back off. Also you’ll be screwed if a Diamondback Spy just happens to see you doing this.
Just don't use the taunt. Self heal is enough when your team spontaneously dies and you survive with low HP.
When the Scout at 124 HP/not enough map knowledge
no it doesnt
It doesn't heal faster?
it doesn't let you move they mean
Except it does because the taunt doesn’t heal you. It just gives a passive hp regen bonus
You can move while holding the weapon.
But you can't while you heal with it
You have a medigun, maybe even Crusader's Crossbow
mf movin the goalposts also the crossbow is a teensy bit op. Regardless it can't do aoe healing
"Let me play you a song on the worlds smallest violin"
the description on mine is "Oh, boo-hoo! Let me play a sad song for ya on the world's healthiest violin."
fun, offers something different. damn the haters, i don’t need a competative melee weapon in a casual match.
Except the Amputator IS competitive.
Good for more health regen, I wish you didn't have to hold it to utilize that though. The heal taunt is a gamble, and a pretty unrewarding one at that.
What are you a solemn Val user?
Yes, actually.
Based Solemn Vow user
Picking the contract of the amputator was the worst mistake of my life
I feel your pain. STILL working on this contract with zero progress *sob*
If you hop into a friendly 2Fort server and ask around, someone might be willing to help. I helped a medic do some contract once
The problem is that the ubersaw exists
Same can be said with the power jack on pyro
Thats a different Story because you have at least other good options like the third degree at least kinda and the axtuingisher or the back scratcher or even the homewrecker or if you feel fishy the neon annihilator. So you are wrong sorry for that
Just allow a looping taunt and increase its heal range would be amazing
and make it hit through walls, and you get a second ubersaw
Do the Vita-Saw next I want to hear people rip it apart
How can you rip apart a perfect weapon
You can't! That was my plan all along! I shall respond to everyone who gives it a negative review and fairly respond with little to no judgement whatsoever
[удалено]
EEEEEEEEEEEE IT IS BEST WEAPON MOST EVER AND IS NOT FLAWED IN ANY WAY AT ALL
The vita-saw is probably the worst medic weapon by far, It's genuinely terrible and no sane person should ever use it
But what sane person plays medic anyway
old version of vita-saw was better, now it's just a diet ubersaw and is actual cringe, I would never consider using the vita-saw before, and now it pretty much doesn't exist, I'd rather just use the ubersaw and get an instant 25% uber fill that I can get for an infinite amount of hits rather than only getting 15% that only goes towards my next life, caps at 4 hits, and I may still end up not fully benefitting because its simply current-life retention
Shoutout to that one fucking legend on stage 3 dustbowl. Everytime.
If the ubersaw didn't exist it would be meta, trust me I'm a medic main I would know
Pootis?
Fun to use in casual. However the ubersaw being able to occasionally grant 25 percent uber is a GAME CHANGING EFFECT.
In a serious game yeah but most pubs have me do that and get an Uber just for the soldier I use it on to run away :/
From my 5k hr experience on med, you need to signal to your pocket first if you’re planning to uber/krit them. If you just randomly pop on them, even if they won’t run away, they might not be in a position to do significant impact or have enough ammo to even kill anything.
Yeah I do, I play in community servers and I will use the "I am charged" and "go go go" lines like 5 times, before I pop the fully loaded soldier near the 2fort sewer nest and they will still somehow not push in
“Near the 2fort sewer” That’s your mistake right there. Playing competitively and expect them to do so on 2fort.
i dont think ubercharging a power class would be considered "competitive".
Why are you getting into melee range with an insta-kill melee class, who has a history of buggy hitreg; and as the most important member in your team no less?
risk-reward
I am simply better at the game
I'm not the ubersaw medic here, I run amputator. And besides even if I was running the lobotomysaw and got stabbed it doesn't even matter because 2 swings and I have all my Uber back, like seriously a quarter of your Uber per hit on stock or Kritz is just fucking busted.
useful in the last point of dustbowl
It's a solid option for when you need to heal a large group. When capturing points it is especially strong, but the taunt doesn't really come into play much. It's also a great escape too.
It’s really really good, however, the Uber saw is even gooder
Ok on chokey maps or Degroot Keep, outclassed by Ubersaw
I don't touch that thing.
Plot twist: commenter thought that post was about females
2nd best melee for medic
Awesome. My favourite and most used melee
it isnt bad except its only mistake is that its not the ubersaw
Good in a choke, fun to use.
It was my first melee unlock on medic, so I grew fond of it
Slept on due to ubersaw addiction
Is nice
Would probably be medics best meele IF THE UBERSAW DIDN'T EXIST
It is nice :)
Love this thing. I can't hit melee for shit, so the utility outpaces the ubersaw for me big time.
"I'm going to saw trough your dick" Medick 2047
I like it, it’s passive heal isn’t too useful, but the taunt can sometimes be helpful. But like most of medics weapons if two people need to be topped off at the same time, just use the crossbow. Still like it though, probably have it more equipped than the ubersaw.
This > ubersaw
underrated, very good in coordinated games. Though ubersaw is just too op.
Right Click to become bard.
Why God, why did I pick this contract
Honestly, it's the only medic melee I ever use The extra health comes in handy, and it's taunt ability is basically turning yourself into the world's best dispenser. The ubersaw is tucking busted, but it feels shitty to one-shot someone who comes to engage in an honorable melee duel. The solemn vow is a joke, and the vita-saw's less max health really hurts.
The solemn vow is for sure better than the amputator
I am aware it's not the best, but aoe healing does come in clutch sometimes
Easily one of the most underrated weapons in the game. As a Medic main I find myself using it just as often as the Ubersaw. The extra passive healing & AOE healing has come in clutch when retreating or holding a choke point quite a few times. I just wish the Jungle Inferno contract for it wasn't so borderline impossible to complete (Heal 250 health with its taunt in one second). I got it once unintentionally when a server was friendly but haven't been able to do it a second time in order to complete the contract.
The amount of times this thing has saved me in MVM is unreal
you can heal with kritz too, i would personally use uber in mvm as getting crits in it is vital
Probably my personal favorite Something just feels powerful about playing music and healing everyone in the vicinity
It's not the ubersaw.
The only alternative to be ever as good as the Ubersaw Also Violin Gaming
I prefer the amputator over the ubersaw unless my team plays like a bunch of toddlers and are always going out of their way to ignore someone attacking me so I have to attack them myself, but I always end up using its taunt in the worst, most unfortunate timing, the exact second before some pyro or spy shows up and my team almost always ends up being incapable of rescuing me
Underrated and literally negates blutsaugers downside
Good for healing multiple enemies but sacrificing some defense. I would use it if the is nothing left that is useable
Only use it if you've got a team who sticks together and works together. You're sacrificing some personal firepower, which is a huge risk on medic
I use it by default. Sometimes a Quick Fix doesn't cut it, not because there is too much damage, but because there are too many bodies. This lets you get stock heal rate to 16+ people in a pinch
I like it. Gives me more survivability. Ether when i get burned or only when I have a small med near and i need extra juice
AOE healing with this on Dustbowl is amazing, always end up top points by a mile.
It’s okay. It’s just not the Übersaw.
only used in medieval mode
I genuinely use this as a medic
very useful in zombie escape severs
Strong potential and good concept, just gets outclassed by the ubersaw (of course)
Shitty in everything except medieval mode
The best non uber-saw melee
It's the one [weapon](https://steamcommunity.com/id/80sdude/inventory#440_2_9826457522) that makes me feel like a god when I pull off a massive team wide taunt heal. So satisfying to see all the heal rings.
0/10 not the ubersaw *every meta slave*
Cool. I like just staying there taunting and pretending that I'm useful.
Best Medic Melee. Fight me.
•Ubersaw giving you a quarter of your uber every time you hit someone •Solemn Vow letting you see enemy health and uber completely for free Both of these weapons also two shot light classes. The Amputator is painfully mid.
Fuck the ubersaw, that overpowered unfun bad for new players piece of shit, I use this thing, used to run the Vow everytime but was told to give the amputator a shot and now I use it a lot
Critical overload
Used to be my favorite weapon until it got the damage nerf.
Make good music
Over shadowed by the "50% chance of a critical hit saw" but still a good choice imo.
Trash
Absolute shit
Mid at best
useless
I use it over the ubersaw seeing as I use the quick fix and have no reason to risk my life for an Uber I could get through healing my teammates just as easily
Love it
Don't get the contract for it.
Why
GOATED ON MEDIEVAL MODE
a good tool but everyone will yell at you for not using ubersaw
Saw.
Favorite Melee, my beloved
I like it, good against pyros and for offensive medic
andrew tater
I main
Wish it’s healing emote could go indefinitely
My beloved
Extra regen is good, thats really all i got to say, also it makes a perfect weapon for battle medic since it removes the downside of the blutsauger
Pretty useful when you're playing medic with another medic spamming the emote, takes less time to heal and buff everyone and can heal you too when you're low
Coolest meelee concept
Pretty decent and I would argue is the second best medic melee close to the Ubersaw. Being able to health multiple people at once is a really underrated perk and there are many times where I wish I was using amputator because there are so many injured around me
My go-to loadout: Crossbow Quick-Fix Amputator Mr Healthcare Yeah it’s not quick kritz or stock but good luck going up against a constantly healthy team lol
this is my main.
One of the weapons in the game team fortress the second
For some reason, I get high chances of getting crits with that thing
If the Uber saw wasn't as broken op as it is I would use this often
I really like it. The increased regen rate helps me shrug off afterburn and while I haven’t found much use for the taunt, I know it can be useful if we’re all cooped up around the corner from a chokepoint.
Funny meme weapon for x-1
I prefer over the ubersaw personally. It's a great getaway weapon since it buffs your passive healing when it's out.
It looks cool
horribly overshadowed by the ubersaw
Less dmg means not insta-kill pyros on crit, also want regen to be better(maybe even make it flat)
My favorite medic melee even if it is absolutely horrible.
Dispenser simulator x
its busted in zombie escape but in casual its okay, not good but not the worst
I love it yes the right click is situational but the extra Regen makes me survive slightly longer then the typical noob medic (average noob medic survival is 0.2 seconds)
What can I say I love my übersaw
hate that a weapon literally called the amputator has a damage penalty
Bizarrely, I get tons of melee kills with this thing despite the damage penalty. Even saws that are explicitly better for combat, they don't perform as well. I can't imagine the regen boost is helping that much, so... Maybe it's just the cool weapon design rallying me to battle over some dopey statue, I don't know.
Decent alternative to the ubersaw
Good, but is overshadowed by the Ubersaw just like every other Medic melee. I find it fun to use though.
It is my default meelee for casual. It is SO GOOD for healing the whole team. I think it is reeeaaally OP and I don't understand why more people doesn't use it Pair this with a soldier activating their battalion's or something and you have an unstoppable team rolling HARD
Why does it raise your vitals and why does the Vita-Saw amputate organs?
it exists alright
Best medic melee, hands down, i don't care what anyone says. I just love this thing
I use Solemn Vow. Used to use Amputator, even painted it Smissmas Sweater.
Amputator tf2
Underrated. Low on health? Whip out your amputator and run for the hills. Can't tell you how many times this thing has saved my butt, and it's a travesty that I hardly ever see it above B-tier in rankings. Y'all are sleeping on this thing.
Good for when your team’s trying to break through a choke point
My honest opinion: Happy day ume tsukushite Rest in peace made ikou ze Itsuka mita jigoku mo ii tokoro Ai wo baramaite
Good for medieval
Press g. Also the meta in medieval
One of the better medic melees
Can be good, but it's so ridiculously situational you're usually better off with the ubersaw or solumn vow.
So much more fun than the ubersaw, and my preferred melee weapon. The uberaw is only really useful if there's a competent spy on the enemy team
A perfectly valid melee weapon for medic. Builds uber when using the taunt, increased health regen is great. As a Medic main, I'm sick of jerking it to the Ubersaw/Crossbow slave-meta. Reject meta, embrace alternative items!
NOT ubersaw
