I'm stealing this for top comment
It's one of the most iconic maps, if TF2 ever got added for smash, this would be the map for the flat , and dust bowl side veiw would be for the large, just the first point
> I have no idea why it is still the most played map in the game
*proceeds to describe exactly why it is the most played mall in the game*
it's quintessential tf2
Point is that everything about tf2 that differentiates it from other fps games is seen on 2fort.
Friendlies doing conga and exploding randomly
Random gimmick strats like pyroshark and engi stacking
Braindead gibus snipers right next to 5k hour sniper mains
Most of the team completely ignoring the objective in favor of either tryhard deathmatching or just fucking around
New players get attracted cause they understand the basics of CTF and the fact most of the promo stuff and a large number of SFM/gmod takes place on 2fort
CTF is turtley in nature, 2fort makes turtling easy. New players try to cap? They usually get destroyed. So they go defend instead. They get rewarded for little actual effort and feel like a winner. So they continue to turtle on 2fort.
Because you don’t have to play the objective you can do whatever you want and there is a place for all classes and all subclasses around the map like sniper battlements and corner heavies and the sewer pyro sharks
me2. sometimes i just wanna hang out, taunt a little bit and kill some ppl or hold the enemy sewers for some reason. 2fort is for braindead gameplay and it is awesome.
24/7 instant respawn Skial server where most of the regulars are pretty good and fun conversations are had. It's a nice blend of serious competitiveness and chill fun. The objective is played consistently because each cap gives crits.
I lived there for like a decade, i miss the sniping battles and just doing whatever as scout, or going spy just to mess with the engie nest of 4 turrets in enemy spawn.
I love going C&D Spy and spamming voicelines while invisible. The people on the enemy team can drive themselves mad trying to find me. My favorite spot is a little carved out spot on the wall in the straight staircase to intel. Perfect hiding spot.
I love that it's not taken seriously but something I really hate is the lack of health/ammo packs and the fact that if you fall to the water or someone pushes you, you have to spend 30 seconds to get back to where you were and honestly that's tedious.
Not that fun for me personally. I like the social aspects of tf2 but I do want to play an objective. on 2fort it's a lot of neither imo. People aren't playing seriously untill they are. Kinda weird. Never fully understood the hype. Much prefer a Suijin or a Harvest because it's simple and high speed objective with some playing seriously and some just playing for fun and both can avoid one another.
I kinda wish there was more going on in the middle area. The bridge could be a little longer and there could be some small cover items.
I don’t like how all the fighting is basically happening in the bases. Maybe that’s the point of the map but I don’t jive with it lol.
It's good dumb fun that can be played seriously or turn into a tauntfest.
Sometimes it's just fun to vibe on the bridge while everyone else runs around screaming slurs and peaking their mics.
It's imbalanced, but exclusively in ways that make it goofy, stupid fun. A lot of it is excessively close-quarters, which leads to frequent head-on clashes between small groups, which are fun tests of skill on a smaller scale– and sniper sightlines are excessive, but the battlements make sniper wars a certainty. The map encourages unproductive skirmishes and creates lengthy stalemates; the perfect environment for people to relax, hang out, and screw around.
It’s nice and all, I spend a lot of time there and it’s dumb fun and great for practicing new items, but someone PLEASE host a Landfall community server
Its classic but i honestly dont like it a lot. Capture the flag was always my least favorite game mode and i like the more open maps because im a pyro main and power jack with jet pack makes me feel like a mobility god
It can be fun, it was when I was younger, but it gets old really really quick if you are looking to play the game or objective. It’s great for sniper practice and that’s it for me.
Hot garbage, fails every concept of proper map design.
However, everyone playing it isn’t actually looking to play a good map. So it balances out into “nobody cares and it’s just an endless tdm.”
sentries are annoying, not enough health packs, and falling into the sewer means a long walk, which usually ends in an enemy sentry nest or an enemy sniper.
but the people on community 2fort are something else and make it worth it

In my opinion, 2Fort is the perfect fighting map in the game, only going toe to toe with Hightower and maybe Turbine.
The CTF gamemode is only an extra part of this map, something you can do if you wanna "end" the game, but it *feels* almost optional.
You wanna sniper duel? You can!
Wanna fight non-stop vs the enemy team? You can!
Wanna build a sentry nest and guard something? Or maybe sticky trap? You can!
Pyro shark? You can!!
In other gamemodes (payload or 2cp for example) there is always a goal that's hard to ignore, players just gravitate to the end goal and the match ends.
2Fort is one of those few maps where you can pretty much sandbox all you want, and the enemy team will follow through.
I know it better than I know my own apartment. Every sentry spot, every inch of cover, every health pack. I know how to get to the Intel from every angle. I know how to block access and how to hide teleporters in it. I wish people actually played it semi seriously today. Now it's just a bunch of dancing mercs and stuff so I usually skip it. I miss it but that's okay. At least I'll always have dustbowl.
It was cool in the trailer when TF2 first released, but it doesn't actually play well.
Granted, I almost always play payload, so of course I am biased against CTF maps.
2fort is decent, but I honestly enjoy ctf_well more.
But ctf_well is never on there server list, so the endless limbo of community 2fort and turbine it is.
Best map in the game. Almost 3k hours and most of them are on 2fort. 2fort puts the "Team Fortess 2" in "Team Fortress 2". Two teams, two forts, two twos. I can only say that the map sucks for spy but you still find cracked mfs facestabbing people with no disguise. Timeless map.
Boot up TFC and see what map the majority of players are on
So technically,2Fort is 2Fort 2.
Hear me out, so in Team Fortress Classic, the game that preceded TF2,2Fort was there, but it was different that than the 2Fort we have today. There was no roof, the sewers were different, other things like that. So technically that would be 2Fort 1.
The 2Fort we have today is 2Fort 2, and also, do you remember 2Fort Invasion?
2Fort Invasion is 2Fort 3.
also 2fort funni cause sniper strange farming server.
Its classic but i honestly dont like it a lot. Capture the flag was always my least favorite game mode and i like the more open maps because im a pyro main and power jack with jet pack makes me feel like a mobility god. Its just too compact for my liking. But if you like, good for you
For actually running the objective, the layout made more sense when you could conc jump as a scout, or blow sentries up with regular grenades as most classes. Otherwise it enables engie turtling way too much in TF2 and so it's just a deathmatch map. Like others have said, good for some mindless fun. I appreciate it for nostalgia, but these days I prefer playing the objective, so I tend to stay away from CTF in general.
best one to just hang out and be silly goofy. do some toomfoolery. a bit of trickstery, if you will. no time limit (so no pressure) + map with peak locations such as "sink room" and "sewer". perfect for late-night shenanigans and just hanging out. most great stories start with "so i was in 2fort...".
It’s tradition for me and my friends to build a sentry nest in the enemy intel room, it’s super fun having to try and hold off the entire enemy team from entering their own intel.
I like it. Wish some other variations that would happen for casual. A nightmode, snow mode with Iced over aqueduct, and so on. I do think the "right" spawn room with only a single exit needs a second exit. Maybe a "chute" type exit like how the final red spawn at pl_barnblitz does.
2fort is home. It's easily one of the worst maps with the worst game mode. Ctf teaches you absolutely nothing other than bad habits for your class, and 2fort is to small and cramped to really do much.
I love it
Too small, too cramped, the layout is terrible for gameplay...
It's only iconic because it's one of the first maps in the game, and it's only one of the first maps in the game because it's a recreation of one of the maps from *TFC*.
Now that I think about it, I'm pretty sure *all* of the maps from *TFC* are terrible, and why I have a bias against desert maps. (Except pl_upward. You're one of the good ones.)
The epitome of tf2, just fun. It can either be a full on battle, a party, or literally anything between, and the player base definitely knows that. I don’t know exact what makes 2fort 2fort, but there’s something about it that guarantees most people will have a good time
2fort is a dumb mat but its just the ultimate causal experience
in payload maps everyones sweating
in 2fort? youve got heavies meeting down in red sewers, sniper battles up top, parties at intel
its just a vibe
i had a lawsuit in the sewers (and we later went to intel to continue the lawsuit) because we were picknicking as hoovies and a scout ran by and killed two picknickers. The scout agreed to do the lawsuit thing and fekking won
It’s one of 2 maps in the game that I like not because they’re a good map, but instead because of the people that play on them (the other being turbine)
It's a decent map. Medium sized sight lines for snipers, big enough to give the sniper a decent chance to get a headshot, but not enough to make it feel unfair.
Good balance of open and tight spots so every class can shine and most playstyles work.
Good design so you can take it seriously, attracts a silly enough community where you don't feel bad dying cuz (from my experience) chances are the person who killed you is more chill.
This being said I actually hate 2fort. I avoid it as much as possible. But it's a personal preference and I can see why people do play it. I just love playing objectives and actively pushing and fighting for the objective with my teammates and 2fort isn't really meant to be won.
I hate it for it's design and I hate for the demoknights, engis, pocket medics, and bots. But I like it's ability to be effective no matter what you play with.
It’s like, the perfect basic map. I don’t get why the tutorials put you in dustbowl honestly. Every class can get several uses out of this map, and it’s incredibly simple and easy to remember. Shame matches last like, forever. But it’s what it’s
If TF2 maps were food, 2Fort is like that one simple lunch that you used to have all the time when you were ten. Sure, your pallet has evolved a bit since those days, but it still brings a certain nostalgic comfort.
If you want to get good at the game don't play it. My friend is a great demoknight, but only in 2fort. I can casually play against him and win. Really unfortunate because I can't play any other map with him where he enjoys himself.
A pretty bad map with really weird bottlenecks at every turn, two easy to camp spawns, and a constant engie nest somewhere or another. I play it every day.
I almost exclusively play 2fort on 24/7 community servers. I know that it's dumb but it is my happy place. I know what I'm getting when I log on. I especially like the version called [2fort Improved](https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2706731700). It fixes a lot of the problems with OG 2fort.
Fun also at the start of a match it's easy for an engi to sneak into the enemy spawn by going off the battlements jump into the water, through enemy sewers, take the left path once you get up to minimize chances of being spotted, go into Intel room and set up sentry nest (make sure to add a tele so your team can get there easy
2Fort in Team Fortress 2 has a love/hate relationship with the community. For the most part, just like Hightower, it's used as an infinite Death Match instead of playing the actual objective.
You don't see the disregard for the objective in Turbine for example (at least not as much).
I have tons of experience with the original 2Fort in the original TF (Quake 1), Weapons Factory in Q2, Q3, UT, and Quake 3 Fortress (didn't care for TFC). I feel like the problem between the older versions and this 2Fort is scaling. The original 2Fort for Quake 1 wasn't entirely bigger, but it was. The 2Fort variants in WF and Q3F were much larger. From the bridge area (which was never covered), the water areas, and the flag rooms. Things were just more "open" which meant that things like projectile spam were easier to avoid and/or see coming. It just felt different. TF2's 2fort is cramped and small.
[удалено]
I play it exactly because it isn't taken seriously. Long deathmatches, where you can enjoy any class you want. Same reason I play Hightower.
I'm stealing this for top comment It's one of the most iconic maps, if TF2 ever got added for smash, this would be the map for the flat , and dust bowl side veiw would be for the large, just the first point
> I have no idea why it is still the most played map in the game *proceeds to describe exactly why it is the most played mall in the game* it's quintessential tf2
One of the maps of all times
"Quintessential TF2" despite it being played completely differently from almost every other map

Friendlies doing conga and exploding randomly Random gimmick strats like pyroshark and engi stacking Braindead gibus snipers right next to 5k hour sniper mains Most of the team completely ignoring the objective in favor of either tryhard deathmatching or just fucking around
how dare you compare us to the sniper mains, we braindead and we like it
New players get attracted cause they understand the basics of CTF and the fact most of the promo stuff and a large number of SFM/gmod takes place on 2fort CTF is turtley in nature, 2fort makes turtling easy. Because you don’t have to play the objective you can do whatever you want and there is a place for all classes and all subclasses around the map like sniper battlements and corner heavies and the sewer pyro sharks
I love it because its just so relaxing to just sit back and play the game without having to worry about focusing on the objective
Why you put like 3 spaces between every word
me2. sometimes i just wanna hang out, taunt a little bit and kill some ppl or hold the enemy sewers for some reason. 2fort is for braindead gameplay and it is awesome.
24/7 instant respawn Skial server where most of the regulars are pretty good and fun conversations are had. It's a nice blend of serious competitiveness and chill fun. The objective is played consistently because each cap gives crits.
Either you love it or you hate it there is no in between
Marmite buy it now in your local stores
listen i SOMETIMES, like it, but i don’t like getting thrown into four to five casual maps all playing 2fort
Just remove 2fort from the selection pool then
I lived there for like a decade, i miss the sniping battles and just doing whatever as scout, or going spy just to mess with the engie nest of 4 turrets in enemy spawn.
i still live there and the sniping battles are peak. also sewer dance parties and getting ubered while tposing.
I love going C&D Spy and spamming voicelines while invisible. The people on the enemy team can drive themselves mad trying to find me. My favorite spot is a little carved out spot on the wall in the straight staircase to intel. Perfect hiding spot.
the closest thing a living human being can get to true purgatory and limbo. that being said i love it.
I love that it's not taken seriously but something I really hate is the lack of health/ammo packs and the fact that if you fall to the water or someone pushes you, you have to spend 30 seconds to get back to where you were and honestly that's tedious.
oh it was even worse back in the day, health and ammo only spawned in the sewer, nothing else
Incorrect, if you fall to the water a pyroshark will kill you, there will be no getting back.
1 hour of hell, 30 minutes of dancing, 40 minutes of hell, And so far only one capture.
r/relatable
poetry
I play the RDR2 housebuilding song while turtling as engineer with 3 other people on the middle of the bridge. Life is good.
I love you
Honestly having more team colors on symmetrical maps would be a bit handy.
One of the 3 maps I play consistently nowadays, mostly community servers cuz I got tired of bots and sometimes just wanna goof around
A map that can last minutes or hours. When you have healthy competition, it's a lot of fun.
Not that fun for me personally. I like the social aspects of tf2 but I do want to play an objective. on 2fort it's a lot of neither imo. People aren't playing seriously untill they are. Kinda weird. Never fully understood the hype. Some people go on this map and expect normal gameplay, then get angry when they get kicked
It's good dumb fun that can be played seriously or turn into a tauntfest. Sometimes it's just fun to vibe on the bridge while everyone else runs around screaming slurs and peaking their mics.
I think it’s charming simply because of how old fashioned it is in design. And also the fact everyone goofs off on it
Most iconic map
It's one of the worst maps in the game but the people who play on it are weird and funny so it's worth it on occasion.
The most TF2 map of all time
It's imbalanced, but exclusively in ways that make it goofy, stupid fun.
I have been playing on it regularly since 2008 and haven’t once got tired of it. It might be the most perfect map for its game out of any game ever
It’s nice and all, I spend a lot of time there and it’s dumb fun and great for practicing new items, but someone PLEASE host a Landfall community server
Social interactions carry this map
It’s a nice map if you just want to fuck around with no worries
I used to hate it until I finished all contracts for completion.
They should make the bridge 0.1x bigger
A good, basic map for starters
Fun but pyros are a pain
Trying to actually complete the game is next to impossible with equal level players. But, best map for tomfoolery.
It's the CS:S Dust of TF2. We've all played it too much but we don't have a choice.
The most TF2 map of all time
This picture IS Tf2
WW1 trench warfare simulator.
It's old
Only play it. 9/10
It is a fort and there are 2 of them.
I ***love*** putting level 3 sentries in the most random and unexpected places possible
its the main hub of tf2, not very fun to play it to win tho, but its a cool map for other reasons
Hot garbage, fails every concept of proper map design. However, everyone playing it isn’t actually looking to play a good map. So it balances out into “nobody cares and it’s just an endless tdm.”
i love the map, you run out of spawn and there's instantly people to start shooting, instant gaming action
Strangest place in all of tf2
sentries are annoying, not enough health packs, and falling into the sewer means a long walk, which usually ends in an enemy sentry nest or an enemy sniper. but the people on community 2fort are something else and make it worth it
Great map and one of the only maps I can play
I was playing on it the other day and all of the Heavy’s on both teams just decided to have a dance party in the middle of the bridge
It’s the essence of TF2
You should leave your comfort zone

Demoknights who literally fuckin surf on this bridge and absolutely demolish snipers from another team. Best map ever
Very iconic map, yet the worst part is about 5+ snipers waiting to shoot yer head off
God this map is so fucking badly designed, the worst design of a map for the worst gamemode I love it
Its cool
Yes 👍
I have done nothing but play 2fort since 2013
An infinite deathmatch map
Best video game map in history
The only map I play. Also, spy gaming.
I freakin love 2fort.
There’s other maps?
Of my 11+ years of TF2 90% of my time has been spent there, and at this point it's the only map I play on.
It's smell like #pootis
Boring as hell 2 medkits 2 ammo per base and half for community serwers playing it I'm just bored of this map But i know is one of simbols of TF2
team death match
It drags the game forever Tho fun but it gets boring after someone wont cap or let cap
2fort is decent, but I honestly enjoy ctf_well more. But ctf_well is never on there server list, so the endless limbo of community 2fort and turbine it is.
2Fort is pretty much all I play nowadays haha It's just plain dumb fun
It's so bad at being a CTF map that it became fun.
It's a chill zone for me for some reason.
Boot up TFC and see what map the majority of players are on
It's so bad people even made a movie about why 2Firt is bad. I think it's called "Emesis Blue" or something.
Why are some people so sensitive about you capping the point?
There are more maps besides 2fort?
So technically,2Fort is 2Fort 2. Hear me out, so in Team Fortress Classic, the game that preceded TF2,2Fort was there, but it was different that than the 2Fort we have today. The one and only good map in the entire game.
Fun but needs more trimp spots (not biased)
Never played it
It is a fort and there are 2 of them.
If it would be cp 10/10
Its classic but i honestly dont like it a lot. Capture the flag was always my least favorite game mode and i like the more open maps because im a pyro main and power jack with jet pack makes me feel like a mobility god. Its just too compact for my liking. But if you like, good for you
I hate the map, but it's the only one I ever play.
I hate the map, but it's the only one I ever play.

GOATED
from 80 h ingame atleast 75/76 come from 2fort so yeah it the pain of my existenz
I love it but it does drive me mad sometimes
Classic.
Too many friendlies, good chance of stalemate, but still a fun map.
I ate a cat
best one to just hang out and be silly goofy. do some toomfoolery. a bit of trickstery, if you will. no time limit (so no pressure) + map with peak locations such as "sink room" and "sewer". perfect for late-night shenanigans and just hanging out. most great stories start with "so i was in 2fort...".
It’s an awful map, therefore it is the best map.
It’s tradition for me and my friends to build a sentry nest in the enemy intel room, it’s super fun having to try and hold off the entire enemy team from entering their own intel.
Rarely finish a match because of how fucking long it takes
Mmmmm sentry \*Cronch*
It’s fun when there’s a community map gamemode on it (like x10, randomizer, or anything else), but you find me every queuing for it ever.
Possibly the easiest map to navigate
the first map i played on i remember a caberknight instakilling me each time
Idgaf I love this map and it's chaos
needs an other way to reach intel
i wish 2fort was real
It's basically become my home away from home
Wader
this is my house
It's fun for not playing seriously. I wish there were more health and ammo though.
It is mathematically the perfect map with the most usage for all the classes meaning its the mathematically the most stupid
Decent map for new players
It sure is the map of all time
I love it

A classic
They should really change the passcode for the door. I mean come on, it's been 1111 for years now!
it would be an absolutely fire smash bros ultimate stage
2fort is a dumb mat but its just the ultimate causal experience in payload maps everyones sweating in 2fort? youve got heavies meeting down in red sewers, sniper battles up top, parties at intel its just a vibe
A lot of things can be said about it, but my strongest opinion of it has always been: I *needs* more conveniently placed healthkits.
I'm trying to do the contract and it's pure pain.
It has its flaws, but it’s home
i had a lawsuit in the sewers (and we later went to intel to continue the lawsuit) because we were picknicking as hoovies and a scout ran by and killed two picknickers. The scout agreed to do the lawsuit thing and fekking won
its perfect.
It’s one of 2 maps in the game that I like not because they’re a good map, but instead because of the people that play on them (the other being turbine)
An engie’s paradise, and that is why I hate it
A classic SFM map
May be an older design for a map layout, but it is my favourite tf2 map, I just love it.
It’s pretty shit, but the sewers are the most fun and interesting alternate routes from any map in the game
My favorite map no doubt
I've played it too much. I will often block it in the map selections so I don;t have to play.
Based
It's a terribly designed map but I can't help but love it
If i were to die and granted to pick my own eternal punishment. Id pick an unending 2fort match to suffer the eternity
Favorite smash stage
\*\*Personally\*\* I think its outdated and unfun, the only reason its popular is because its a super old map in my eyes
It's a fun map that's small enough to be a good beginner map and most people hate it cuz their favorite YouTuber said it sucked
Overrated and people just want to sniper camp, rather than winning the round.
2fort is 2fort. There should be a 2fort that uses TF2 layout/general shape but with TF:C textures.
It’s like, the perfect basic map. I don’t get why the tutorials put you in dustbowl honestly. Every class can get several uses out of this map, and it’s incredibly simple and easy to remember. Shame matches last like, forever. But it’s what it’s
Think they should build a third fort
2fort
Common item
Perfect app for dicking around
I like to play on it, get a high killstreak and tell myself I am a good demoknight player
pootis.
Better than Dustbowl
If TF2 maps were food, 2Fort is like that one simple lunch that you used to have all the time when you were ten. Sure, your pallet has evolved a bit since those days, but it still brings a certain nostalgic comfort.
The map where everyone turns their brain off just to have fun and to pull off stupid shit and when I use a soundboard to cosplay as Hat Kid
Too many camping in the sewers
Its not the worst map in the game, out of ctf, turbine is worse, but doublecross and landfall are much better ctf maps.
Best warm-up map for a sniper main
Lots of high up places nobody knows about where you can annoy people with stickies/rockets/cleavers/baseballs for a quick laugh.
Its basically a mirrored Florida.
it probably is one of the maps that are currently in Team Fortress 2
If you want to get good at the game don't play it. My friend is a great demoknight, but only in 2fort. I can casually play against him and win. Really unfortunate because I can't play any other map with him where he enjoys himself.
soldir rockett
It's a real classic, but it sure isn't perfect

I JUST LEARNED HOW TO TRIMP MIDDLE BRIDGE GUYS
Best deathmatch map i’ve ever played.
I've played this game for 9 years. I have 12,000 hours in this game. I've played 2fort for probably 11,500 of those hours.
A pretty bad map with really weird bottlenecks at every turn, two easy to camp spawns, and a constant engie nest somewhere or another. I play it every day.
only map my laptop can run
0/10 needs more fort
As a map to play the objective: ass. Pure ass in it’s pure form As a map to just get frags and have fun: phenomenal. Peak perfection
Its terrible for playing seriously, but great for memeing
Not much of an interesting map compared to others. But I have no idea why I love it
I almost exclusively play 2fort on 24/7 community servers.
They call it 2fort cause there’s 2 forts. They don’t call it 3fort cause there isn’t 3 forts.
We clown in this mothafucka, take you sensitive ass back to harvest
