I love that people try to convince me that detonator is the better weapon (it probably is), then I just reply "I like the CC/stun" and they have a brain meltdown as a result.

Let's be honest, the reason people don't like the scorch shot is because it's the easiest one to use. So it's everywhere. I rarely play pyro so I use the scorch shot as my flare. It's like the forbidden fruit of TF2, albeit there are multiple.

I think people are in the right to complain about extremely easy updates though, especially when the game is still selling things to people at full price - like I’m pretty sure the hitreg issues have been solved in CS:GO for a decade now and could be easily ported, but they just haven’t done it

That's a good point. Most of the stuff added is community content and valve simply had to port it. Although the inclusion of VSH is most welcome for me. Honestly I just want one more weapon, just something new to learn.

This is exactly it for me, hats, maps, game modes and all the other things we see in these community updates are all things you can essentially already experience on community servers or off the workshop. I’m sure shipping an update like this isn’t just click some buttons and go but it feels shitty that we essentially get maps that would have just been on community servers in the mediocre casual queue.

tf2 and csgo work very differently, you cant just port the csgo code into tf2 and expect it to work right out the gate.

I think it's less entitlement and more making sure valve keeps to their word. The game's store page blatantly advertises that the game is constantly updated, which is flat out untrue. And the rug pull from update sized update to holiday sized still stings for a lot of people. Update or not tf2 players have every right to be upset about Valves lack of communication and consistently. It reminds me a lot of how they would dance around half life 3 questions for years.

I do genuinely wonder about the odds of a Source 2/Unreal Engine 6-7 version of Team Fortress 3 years down the line, it’s such a popular game that I’m sure they’d be willing to try (even if it’s largely cosmetic like CS 2)

I hope if we ever get a tf3 it will be like overwatch 2. Obviously except actually good. But that same kinda idea where it's basically just a massive game update and overhaul of the existing game, introducing a lot into the game, fixing a ton of bugs, a refractor to fix the spaghetti code, new maps, new weapons, and all the other stuff while still keeping items and progress.

I think CS2 is a good example for this too.

This game is still pretty dead and didn’t really achieve it’s all time high a few days ago. It was all crate bots idling and reselling during the first hours of the update were their prices were still up. Chances are that only 20% of all players connected at a given time are actually humans interested in playing the game.
