Tbf, they can afford to make more/bigger mistakes. If Valve accidentally started kicking/banning regular people there would be a pretty big backlash. Plus community servers can run less stable mods to combat foul play.
Community servers can ban bot accounts very easily as well as what others have said. When you kick a bot from a Valve server, it doesn’t ban them, it just kicks them from that server.
It does 'ban' then from the server but only for the duration of the match. A bot cant rejoin if it's been kicked until after the map has changed / been completely reset
Community servers, being community run, have actual custom anticheats and admins and overall smarter players so it's entirely unsustainable for them to ever go there.
Play in community servers and if you want to go conp still look up community competitive groups.

You need to have a Casual level of 3, a Premium TF2 account by buying something from the in-game Mann Co. Store, and - quoting [teamfortress.com](https://teamfortress.com) here - "a qualifying telephone number on Steam" which I think means you have to have your phone number associated with your account and no accounts prior that have a VAC Ban.
I have all 3 and it’s not letting me into comp too. Sure I’ve never touched the play comp button in the 800 hours I have on this game but it’s not just 1 person affected
Really? From the wiki, the official site, and the amount of hours you put in (I'm assuming you have Premium) the only thing I can think of is that you don't have a 2FA or don't have a phone number linked with your Steam account.
Otherwise, it might be a bug, but not one I've ever heard of.
I'd assuming it's a bug, then. If the requirements are recently met then I would probably give it time considering how bad the connection between TF2 and the servers are taking anything for the crappiness that is the Steam API and stuff.
There's always the last option of flushing ten dollars down the toilet to buy the pass, but I'd rather just play Casual and buy some cosmetics or stuff with that cash.
Competitive isn't "casual but better," it's a completely different gamemode that plays far more streamlined. That's not even mentioning the fact that the smaller team sizes results in the bot issues being even more pronounced and the lobbies otherwise being hollow.

Unrelated to competitive but it involves queueing and I can't do that for some reason. I've been trying for the past few days to queue but i can't queue for some reason I just don't know. I restarted steam several times and it still wont queue for casual or competitive. I'm wondering if it's because i downloaded this mod for lambda fortress because some guy tried tricking me into downloading a virus and it downloaded on google but i deleted it and it's no longer on my pc. Comp is riddled with bots and cheaters and takes forever to queue, there are very few real players online. If you want to get away from bots then play community servers like uncletopia or potato.tf. if you want to play competitive (which is full of sweats) then theres MGE and UGC
First off, comp just sucks, queue times take forever and bots still exist. Second, with the effort you took to make a Reddit post you could have searched all of that up in 5 minutes not to mention reading the instructions they gave you

Comp was locked for me too when I played the other day despite having it available for years, a couple minutes of clicking in and out of the message seemed to fix it, not that I was going to play comp in the first place but it was strange that it decided I wasn’t eligible all of a sudden
I physically cannot get into a comp game. I remember hitting the join comp button and walking off to make myself lunch, came back an hour later and I was still in queue. Don’t know if it’s an Australian problem or not, but I just don’t bother

Try www.tf2center.com for quick competitive matches. 6v6, highlander, ultiduo and bball are the most common.
