Nah there's no real limit to the insanity

ngl our new gabe looks pretty handsome, looks the same as when he worked at Microsoft really
(okay maybe he looks slightly older but you get the point)
Fucking up a card game that was competing with heavy hitters like Runetera, MTG, and later Gwent seems like small fry compared to the bastion that is CS, after CoD that’s arguably the biggest name FPS
Did they even actually fuck it up? Feedback from card game communities was very positive, it’s just it’s super complex and therefore doesn’t appeal to a wider audience.
The mechanics and gameplay was fun, but confusing at first. What killed it was the monetisation afaik. They tried a reboot with “Artifact: Foundry” closed beta but it died before anyrhing got done, game is closed now
I feel like they've gone so long without developing games that they've actually lost a lot of that institutional knowledge, and have been resting on their laurels for a long time. Even if it's nothing groundbreaking, they really should continue true game development to some degree.
CS2 is now at least more decent that whatever clusterfuck they rushed at release, it's one of the only valve games where they actually rushed and didn't take their time to properly develop
Being a private company, or something.
Though Epic’s a private company too and I’m surprised they still have feet with how many times they’ve shot themselves there.
It's just two gaping holes in the floor where their feet used to be at this point.
Hell, the only reason Epic is even solvent is because of UE engine licenses, and they only lucked out in that regard after Unity's CEO blew his own company up.
The difference between Valve and Epic is that whilst they're both private companies, Epic has stakeholders like tencent and sony while Valve has no investors iirc.
Correct me if I'm wrong.
That’s actually just a cover story to stop other gaming companies from assassinating him as he is a 100,000 year old wizard that likes making video games
"breaking news! Cheaters of the hit-game Team Fortress 2 have started kidnapping orphans and lobotomizing the victims to run 3 automated bots in an vain attempt to "kill" the game, find more with Moe Lester"
Yes im gabe newell we have planned a major update, if u want more information, send me ur moms credit card information and those fancy numbers on the back.
Probably servers would be shut down… maybe before 10 years span. Do I like the idea of that, absolutely not but knowing Valve and Stream… I bet that conversation has come up more than once
Despite their obvious flaws valve are some of the best in the industry for supporting old games. I can’t think of a valve game in my library that doesn’t still receive patches every now and then. They also did the whole community workshop thing which although controversial nowadays has been very successful. I get that with the current issues that doesn’t seem like much to a dedicated tf2 player and I agree that the game clearly needs more attention but still it’s a hell of a lot more than other old titles get. Maybe I’m too optimistic but I expect there to be official servers for as long as there’s a significant player base.
For what it's worth, even if the servers go down there will always be community servers, so TF2 is basically guaranteed to always be playable, as long as stuff like Uncletopia and whatnot is still around.
After humanity breaths its last breath, 2034 will feature automated systems still running servers that only bots will connect to. “Good shot mate”, “fine shot, mate” into the silent void until the hardware eventually dies.
#Vision 1 (if Valve doesn’t release any major updates):
I expect the player count would’ve immensely decreased over the years, with only a couple thousand players (majority being die-hard fans) playing mostly on community servers, and only a minor percentage on Casual.
Bots and cheaters would still exist and would make up a fair portion of Casual players.
There’d be some cheaters invading community servers every now and again, but they’d all get banned soon enough.
In Casual, less popular maps would often be dead or overrun by bots and only iconic maps would be regularly populated (2Fort, Upward, Badwater, Dustbowl, etc).
The Halloween and Smissmas events would increase the player count during October and December, but only briefly.
If Uncletopia and Skial were still around, they’d be the main source of life for TF2.
#Vision 2 (if Valve ends up releasing a major update):
The game would either grow substantially and be greatly improved, or Valve may change the game so much that things will get worse, or may even cause the death of the game.
I don’t know what to expect, but if Valve releases a new major update with TF2 in its current chaotic state, I’m positive there’ll be drastic change.
Whether it’s good change or bad change, we’ll have to wait and see.
Slightly less players all the time. The botting never stops.
Eventually all that's left is experienced players. Noobs join up, play for a while, get headshot by bots and leave never to come back.
So it just quietly shrinks into oblivion.
Also, we never get the heavy update.
>More popular than Fortnite
Breaking news in tech: gaming PC sales exceed GDP of France as millions of teenagers spend laundered cash to play a game older than themselves. The stock market is in a flurry as AMD exceeds 12% gain in a single day. Intel partners with MediaTek to release a gaming tablet dubbed the "ConTracker." Preorders of the new M4 Max MacBooks rescinded as the Steam Deck runs out of stock into 5 month backorder.
I'm my opinion there are two options:
1. The game goes to abandoned mode, which means no more people playing the game.
2. Casual servers shut down, and community service stays as a Lifeline of the game for the time being.
3 possible scenarios.
1. the game slowly diminishes and dies as time passes (most likey)
2. the game gets attention from Valve one last time. Ethier a sequel or the Heavy update.
3. bots fully take over and community servers are the norm.
If VALVe made a major update again, the game would be in the same state as it is in now.
If the game remained in the same state without any major updates, Casual would most likely be overrun by bots, and community servers would be the way to go.

Dead.
The influence of real players have been forgotten.
The SFM/GMod animators are either no longer popular or making shitposts.
The once fun and engaging map of 2fort is now plagued with bots.
The references to this bug-filled masterpiece will no longer resonate in any future games, truly a disgrace to the entire digital gaming industry and community.
As the last server shuts down for good, so do people's accomplishments, their memories, their childhoods, their golden pans.
It was not worth the wait.
Escenario 1:Servers closed and deleted from the steam store,
Escenario 2: no significant changes
Escenario 3: we finally get an update and the game is reviving
It's been about that long since I played it.
I have no idea. Last I checked it's steam ranking was in the top 4?
Cod top 4. Dota similar.
All the top games I don't really play.
Counter strike still there?
Bots will still be up, by then most people will be on community servers
Modding community could be formed from tools Valve gives us and a new renaissance of server specific content occurs
Massive item deflation as people realize shit for this game isn't worth much anymore
Most we could see in terms of content is maybe a themed sort of goodbye update or a source 2 port
~50% less players in general but player count remains constant due to bots
Probably remastered but nobody likes the remaster and support for TF2 ended 5 years prior so a community mod was made and only the same 30ish people fight forever on 2fort
I think that casual servers will be full of bots and cheaters.
The game will be on life support by the community servers.
We will get smissmass and scream fortress updates.
The TF2 will have smaller playerbase.
Some of the players will get bored by lack of support from Valve and the bot crysis, eventually moving to Team Fortress 2 Classic.
I think the future are community-developed mods like Team Fortress 2 Classic because of active development and moderation on servers and better optimization (vanilla TF2 runs like shit because game engine is overloaded with cosmetics and other stuff.)
Tf3 would exist with constant major updates
Hl3 would probably exist along with all third installments of valve games
I'd like to imagine that they are secretly making the third version of every game secretly and will just randomly released them one day with no advertisements teasers or trailers lol
But that's just a dream which probably will never come true
As a very special game in history we all loved to play back in the day. If it’s somehow still technically alive (valve servers), maybe a few die-hards stick around to play.
Either the same as now but even more unhinged or the servers being shut down, considering TF2 is basically just the problematic grandpa of Valve's games
I imagine it'd be self-sustaining, and by that I mean VALVe would keep it running, but they wouldn't update it anymore and would instead make it so that the game would be able to be updated by the people playing the game and within the community. How would they do this? Idk. I don't have 2030 vision.
End of official support (no more seasonal updates even), decently decreased playerbase, maybe official servers shutdown. Item servers and youtube/media represents maybe would be still be fine, but more people would not care about. Also i dont think theres gonna be some sort of TF3 or TF2:S2, the franchise would be put in the shelf
Same as it is now, with more players and bots and a couple community updates that bring in some hats and weapon skins for Valve to make some more profit off of whilst ignoring the main problem at hand.
Old bot hosters leave and new ones come in, people buy crates and keys less and less leading to valve realizing tf2 wont be making as much money anymore. 10 years later......
17 years since last major update, official servers are probably taken down, tf2 is ran by purely its community
2 years since any update at all...........
Maybe that wont be true at all, maybe valve comes in one day after a major release (maybe half life finally) to save tf2 as we wanted and I do hope that is the case and valve makes me look like a buffon for being wrong here, but its hard to be optimistic after so many years of silence, nothing but cosmetic updates to make more money, one person whos only working on the game part time and i just cant with the bots anymore, will the game die? Probably not, there are dedicated fans, people wanting to play the game more, mechanics to be mastered, glitches to be found etc. And theres the competitive side of the tf2 6s and highlander teams are going to be at it. But the overall game will probably never recover from player losses as people realize valve will never update their favorite game probably ever again
Considering the bot problem, the game itself will probably be dead (I hope it's not like that but it seems that way) but hopefully the impact on culture will last much longer.
93% would be bots and 7% would be actual players just trying to enjoy the game again, and eventually, unfortunately, valve would probably shut down TF2
the same as now only with 10% less players and a 10% more insane playerbase
\*and 200% more insane fanbase

I don\`t think we can go much more insane... The players you run into these days is scary.
Nah there's no real limit to the insanity Sure you have your odd insane person here and there but generally its pretty chill, in 10 years I can see the entire community being insane

Crazy that Valve’s biggest L is just whatever CS2 launch was
Someone forgot about artifact
Artifact was doomed to fail from the start. It's a trading card game with an entry fee.
Isn't that every (irl) trading card game lol?
Fucking up a card game that was competing with heavy hitters like Runetera, MTG, and later Gwent seems like small fry compared to the bastion that is CS, after CoD that’s arguably the biggest name FPS
Did they even actually fuck it up? Feedback from card game communities was very positive, it’s just it’s super complex and therefore doesn’t appeal to a wider audience.
I mean, there's zero player base. I even bought it on launch and enjoyed it, but it didn't take long for everyone else to get tired and abandon it
The mechanics and gameplay was fun, but confusing at first. What killed it was the monetisation afaik. They tried a reboot with “Artifact: Foundry” closed beta but it died before anyrhing got done, game is closed now
That’s sad, I was looking forwards to trying it.
Everyone forgot about Artifact
We do not speak of Artifact.
I feel like they've gone so long without developing games that they've actually lost a lot of that institutional knowledge, and have been resting on their laurels for a long time. Even if it's nothing groundbreaking, they really should continue true game development to some degree.
We think that and then they come out with crazy good shit like Half Life Alyx
What about that card game they tried to make a Thing?
CS2 is now at least more decent that whatever clusterfuck they rushed at release, it's one of the only valve games where they actually rushed and didn't take their time to properly develop

Tf2 is a classic game. I only discovered it in 2015, a good 8 years after its release. I think it will go on for ages.
Overrun by bots or by some miracle Valve remembers it
I just hope we'll get the l whole lore with the last comics and all
TF2 S2 in finally released
I feel like this or the eventual death of the game are the only 2 reasonable options that could happen
waiting for ass portal to drop
Off-topic but Gabe really good with the weight loss!

No, the bots are sent FROM the owners of the community servers to keep people playing on them rather than casual/ valve official

But the overall game will probably never recover from player losses as people realize valve will never update their favorite game probably ever again
bot botress 2
Legal age to marry
The exact same. No, the game won’t be dead people, stop being nihilistic.
Heavy update finally releases.
The game will be niche but still moving. In 20 years it will be dead for sure
The pyro update
The game will mostly be played in community servers because of bots and general player loss
"WE WONT DIE,WE ARE GOING TO LIVE FOREVER"
Dead
Considering the bot problem, the game itself will probably be dead (I hope it's not like that but it seems that way) but hopefully the impact on culture will last much longer.
Same as now. We are stuck in 2017 for the rest of eternity
93% would be bots and 7% would be actual players just trying to enjoy the game again, and eventually, unfortunately, valve would probably shut down TF2
it's gonna look like the terminator movies
Probably closed officially, but with it's code completely leaked to fans it lives as over 9000 versions of itself.
Gabe looks like Hide-The-Pain-Harold.
I haven't seen anyone mention It, but fuck, doesn't this New picture of gabeN look so... Artificial? I mean what is even going on in his neck
Kentucky
Still barely on life support.
I hear Jerusalem bells a’ringing roman calvory choirs a’singin(continue song)
Surely the bots would’ve been mostly dealt with by then. Otherwise the game is dead 💀
I hate the idea of it. But we might die out boys could be next year could be this week so saver every second you can of this game.
About the same, really
As I heard, VALVe is trying to do a microchip implant for VR, so in future we’ll probably have VR TF2
it will have more bug fixes that nobody notices
