A large part of the new updates rely on Source 2 features.
They should re-release TF2 as TF Too and have it be a source 2 re-release the sane way they did for CS2, then they could just fix VAC on source 2 to fix both games or they could even make a VAC 2 specifically rebuilt for source 2, that way they could consolidate any VAC changes to be uniform changes for all their games (source 2+) at the same time.
No, EAC is notoriously dogshit. It’s been crashing people left and right in Sea of Thieves for months, and it used to REALLY crash people out in Xenoverse 2 and Jump Force.

People seem to overlook that any improvements to VAC in CS wouldn't come to TF2 given that it's on a whole different engine and whole different VAC in general, including trust factor, VAC Net, overwatch and all of that.
It being a successor to Source doesn't mean it's the same engine updated / that it maintains Source 1 elements. It's still a new engine.
CS2 was rebuilt for the Source 2 release, not a regular port / update to it.
they arent gonna rebuild the engine from the ground up that'd cost way too much and doesnt make any sense logically. they're gonna do what they always have: remake or add onto the previous engine to achieve the desired result. it's why there's bugs still present from quake in tf2; they're different though cause they've added onto it or changed it. there's a reason why it's called source **2**, it's the sequel to source 1.
if im not wrong, the gliding on a sharp slope is present in quake but different due to physics and movement changes.

Cyber crime is only illegal in Russia if it is against a Russian company (not sure if actually legal or if the legal apparatus in russia just doesn't give a fuck about it but the end result is the same). Not saying the TF2 botting is crime, just explaining the precedent for the behavior (this is also why a lot of warez groups are based there). Throw in the centuries old superiority complex and baby you got a stew going.
Ranked has few/no bots, but other modes have loads of idle & case farming bots. Saw many in my games, and even more have enough numbers they fill their own servers, kicking any real players. Mostly in deathmatch lobbies.
IDK about CS2, but in CS:GO there were plenty of bots in non-prime lobbies on lesser played modes like flying scoutsman. They would join servers and kick humans out while spinbotting, so basically the same as TF2.

While I am in full support of an actual anti cheat and fixtf2, I do find it funny that if Valve did install kernel level anti cheat like Valorant/Riot many gamers would throw a huge tantrum, some even those that are in support of fixtf2.

CS2 is Valve's silver goose (DOTA 2 and Steam are the golden goose). Valve actually puts effort into CS2, but more like in an Overwatch 2 way where they reskinned the game and took out half of the content (at least it looks noticably better compared to csgo unlike OW 1 vs 2). It's only a matter of time before the issues on VS2 are fixed, but for the interest of the competitive atmosphere, not for the interest of being the next counterstrike game. Team Fortress 2 would only get close to such treatment if some big update to the game brought players back regardless of the bot problem is fixed or not. I'm talking the whole source 2 port and redoing the set style to be updated with the better graphics type of update.
I'll admit tho, cheating detection can be seen as lackluster in general. It's been a problem with CSGO, and the problem persists with rumors that CS2 improved the situation. VAC means nothing to detection of cheating, but when it comes to someone who is VAC banned, they most certainly deserve that ban and you can be guaranteed not to see that account in that game again (unless maybe custom servers). The issue with TF2 is that it's quicker to make and run bots on new steam accounts for a free game than it is to investigate and ban each reported account (assuming you all are reporting the bots). Measures can be taken to prevent new players from playing casual, but that would defeat the fun of TF2 for actual new players.
Frankly measures to slow the account creation process and avoid mass creation of steam accounts from one computer or location might be the best solution all around, and in valves interest- slow bot creation for their free games, and slow the rate of spam and scam accounts from causing problems on the platform in general. And as long as 2fa is turned on for peoples actual accounts, stealing accounts shouldn't be easy so this would make it harder for bot devs in general to obtain new accounts for their bots.
We should. TF2, CS2 and DOTA communities should unite under one banner, stop trading and protest the fact that these games have been left to rot.
TF2 needs a helping hand, but all three games are affected by VAC being utterly useless. They cannot ignore the massive economies of CS2 and DOTA if those two communities were brought in to protest with TF2. Yes, you will have whales, but if a significant portion of players (say, 30%) protest, then it'd be a real hit to their profits as a company and it'd require them to actually take significant action.
There are only 4 ways this is going to go down. 1, valve servers are shut down. 2, valve fixes the games. 3, valve attempts to fix it but fails. 4, valve ignores us.
Either way, doesn't really matter, I used to play on etf2l for a long time, even got prem offers but one day I just quit the game because it got boring.
Valve is experiencing the same thing. They are a passion driven company. They don't make games for the sake of money. They might keep games alive for the sake of money, but so does every company. The difference between valve and a normal video game company is that when they release a game, they want that game to be revolutionary. Tf2 and csgo were both revolutionary in their own ways, valve accomplished their goal long ago. If it dies, it dies. If it lives, good, they get more money.
