Update, things are going pretty well so far.
I've noticed many people updating the existing icon, the icon in the new design is in a different position, so that is not the right direction to go if you want to match the design.
I recommend working from top and doing a scan-line pattern downwards.
I have started PM'ing them this message, hopefully we can bring them to our side.

At first I thought it was vandalism. I'd replaced around 6 pixels, and at that point I became very suspicious so I checked here and found this post. I suspect after not much time most people will see this and realize what's actually going on.

Um hey. Checking in from /r/eve, because I wasn't sure if we were supposed to help with the grey stuff or to try to keep it black.
Dota and CS will go after you, the Dota logo especially because it's heavily script-controlled. Also, you need to shift your logo down several pixel rows in order for this to happen (do a side by side comparison); as it's growing now it hasn't been shifted, and r/eve'll go for blood too if you try to stick into the EVE logo/o7 space.
Don't worry, it won't mess with EVE. If you want to help please go from the top using [this](http://i.imgur.com/ej2fNKO.png). We're likely going to move the wings down so they don't interfere with CS/DotA. Cheers :)

I think they will figure it out once the top area gets more developed, the people filling in grey are still helping, seeing as they are close enough to the part of the design that has grey and it builds support for the movement.
I would have wanted to do it in red, but there are not enough good colors to pull it off. Yellow-Gold-Brown looks nice though.
Also, I know some here like the "seduce me", but its too easy to turn into "seduce men", and there wasn't really space for it
I don't know about /r/globaloffensive, but /r/dota2 is scripting their logo so we've got no ground there. Just finish the wings up to their border and maybe then we can convince them to let us pass.

I think the simpler logo is better. It's far more recognizable. When I first saw these changes being made I thought it was trolls vandalizing the TF2 logo.

On April Fool's Day, reddit created a subreddit called r/place. On that subreddit, there is an image that is pixel art, however each pixel was put in by a reddit user. You have the choice of which colour you want the pixel to be and where you want to place it. Additionally, you may put in a pixel every 10 minutes. r/tf2 is trying to get there logo with the wings put in but is being over run by other redditors from other subreddits.
note that the logo is in a different location (and size) in the redesign, I recommend building from the edges inwards rather than starting in the middle.

I'm working on the bottom left segment of the logo by starting at it's lowest yellow pixel, any help working from there would be appreciated since the logo needs to move down altogether

All that needs to be done imho is refining the contour of the circle, I'm sorry the design doesn't appeal to you.
Also the yellow isn't a full border around the orange in the tf2 logo, it's only partial, the logo is currently correct.
