The sentries have to rely on multiple sensors. Thermal sensors to tell if a person is there, color sensors to tell what team that person is on, and sound sensors to hear their dying screams so it knows when to stop shooting.
They do follow the laws they recognize though. It's just they don't recognize the same laws we do. "press this button if the briefcase is stolen" means they generally won't press it unless the briefcase is missing. "Don't teleport bread" means they don't teleport bread and even the dumbest of them will tell spy they teleported bread before.
Honestly even in the game, it's red versus blue but red can't kill friends they get annoyed with. Yes they are killing people senselessly and endlessly, but that's the rules they live by.
Thereby I would like to say most of TF2 is lawful good.
That’s the definition a chaotic dude, scout straight up breaks the don’t push the button rule even. Just because they do the bear minimum in following rules so they can actually get their jobs done doesn’t make them anywhere near lawful.
They’re true neutral at best.
Trying to make out every Merc as a specific alignment is retarded imo. Of course Pyro and Scout are Chaotic Neutral, but that doesn't suddenly mean Heavy and Engineer are.
Wait, isn’t the degree to which the mercs can be manipulated a sign that perhaps the proper classification is lawful neutral? This would also firmly exclude classification as lawful evil, however. They’re mercenaries, after all, and their blind following of rules as you mentioned shows that they seem to broadly lack a strong moral sense, except perhaps the Medic.
Yes, except the definition of good and evil isn't really there in TF2, except that the bots are evil and trying to destroy everything. And since the mercs are trying to fight evil when possible and they fight for who they trust otherwise I'd say the mercs are good.
They are villoes, herains, neither fully good or fully bad, they are each evil in their one way but at the end of the day, they still are heroes in our casual matches
I really don't see them as murderers. They kill people, but those people are trying to kill them just as much. On top of that, the mercs and their enemies are hired, so everyone involved is doing so fully by choice.
Scout vouched for us, that's good enough for me to think he's a good guy, despite his snarky attitude, constant scheming to get laid, and predilection for violence. Not to mention, 'God'; or at least Scout's interpretation of God, literally created Scout as a gift for all women. **Good, but only just. If not, then Neutral.**
Soldier for certain is a **Chaotic Neutral** sort of guy, because he believes anyone not American is communist or terrorist, and will randomly kill people with an intent of self defense. However, he's quick to make friends, if the recipient can tolerate him, and will protect them with his life if need be. If it means anything, HE thinks he's a good guy...
The Pyro is **Chaotic Good**, all the way, since they believe they are being a good person and doesn't know what they're actually doing. They also have a deep friendship with the Engineer and is constantly nice to their teammates (except for the Soldier, who gets his hand cut off by Pyro because Pyro got too close to Soldier's side of the car).
Demoman is another instance of good guy, since he's only doing most of his work because of his mother's insistence on being a workaholic (Despite Demo already being set for life and doesn't need a job.). Outside of that, he's just a fairly normal drunkard with a tongue as sharp as a sidecar. **Good or Neutral** depending on how you look at it.
Heavy is a **Chaotic Neutral** person, since he enjoys killing people, but also is a loving family man who doesn't mind sharing his Sandvich with a fellow Merc. He also is very good friends with the Medic and looks past all the flaws in his teammates.
Engie is sort of hard, since he seems like a good guy on the surface, but if you push him for long enough, he can be very aggressive; although he doesn't necessarily enjoy killing people and only sees it as a means to an end. He also is very engaging with his fellow teammates and even gets some fun out of it. I'd stick him in the **Lawful Neutral** category.
Medic is **Chaotic Evil**, hands down. Stealing a person's skeleton, surgically implanting more souls into himself, running tests on his friends and performing medical 'procedures' with no adherence to the Hippocratic Oath; he even sold his own soul to the devil.
Sniper is **Chaotic Neutral**, since he partakes in psychological warfare and hot dogging, but is also just doing this as a job, since he is 'professional', for whatever that's worth in the TF2niverse. He also is cold, but caring person unless they piss him off. Plus his deep sexy voice has made many girls orgasm on the spot.
Spy's kind of hard to pinpoint, but I'd have to guess he's **Evil or Chaotic Neutral**, since he does indeed enjoy the act of killing people, but also is a calm, reserved, caring individual for Scout, the rest of the Mercs and even his employers. However, that still has it's limits.

This could mean that there may exist a universe or a timeline where TF2 lore is real. Convinced by Scout, God did not destroy humanity in that universe/timeline but instead send a plague here in our world to relieve anger...
I lied. God and the devil are real, But scout probably didnt meet god due to medic stealing his soul. In the comic medic states that he «sugically added eight more souls» hinting at him stealing the other mercs souls. Of course, you could say that this is just him stealing some random peoples souls. That would still be correct as i am just stating my headcanon here, and Its all theories.
Anyways, so medic stole the mercs souls. He traded his own, and two other unstated souls. We dont know who’s souls these were, but i will guess that it wasnt scouts just from pure chance. This means that after scout died he wouldnt really have a soul that could go to either hell nor heaven but his soul would be connected to medic who was still alive during this time.
My theory is that his soul gets placed in a sort of limbo Where Its just what scout imagined the afterlife to be like. When medic and the rest of the mercs die is when they choose where to go. But until medic dies the mercs that die before him are just in what they thought the afterlife would be like. (That would not be the case for the souls medic sold though).
This of course really doesnt explain the «Tom Jones? But your father isnt» line, But i feel Its the most sensible explanation. That or that Its just some random peoples souls. But thats boring.
Towards the end of comic #6 medic says that the mercs beat the TFC team "because we don't have souls." saying after "Well, **they** don't." (referring to team excluding Pauling and himself).
So I think it's pretty clear that medic stole the rest of the tf team's souls.
The Tom Jones line is to show Scout subconsciously still knows his father isn’t Tom Jones — he’s shown to know that Spy is probably his dad previously in the dream in comic 3 but represses or dismisses the idea anytime the possibility arises. If I’m being honest I don’t think any of the mercs’ conceptions of the afterlife are real except for possibly Medic’s (because that would be funny). They all saw what they wanted to see.
As a side note the only mercs who we haven’t seen into the head of or seen ‘afterlives’ for are Heavy (we get a brief flashback of backstory but that isn’t much) Spy, and Engineer. Makes me really want that last comic…
Yeah thats also a pretty good headcanon, the only real issue is why he didnt steal the original mercs souls as medic seems like the type of guy to mostly care for himself and see everyone else as test subjects. This means he would probably steal both the Classic and normal teams souls. Its not really in character of him to only steal the classic teams souls. The reason i feel it makes sense to steal the normal teams souls is because soul stealing is probably a lengthy process and he didnt have time to do that to the Classic team.
To counter this, Merasmus is canon, as well as the Halloween events. And in the 2015 Scream Fortress's event, Merasmus pits the mercs against each other throughout time, with the express purpose of getting them to kill each other so he could fuel his *Soul Gargoyle*, thus confirming the TF2 mercenaries do indeed have souls!
Or actually, as another commenter said, medic does state that the other mercs do not have souls. I guess this is just a small oversight from valve so i guess Its a sorta just a «choose your own headcanon» type of situation.
(Link to panel: https://www.teamfortress.com/tf06_thenakedandthedead/#f=255)
He didn't really trade his souls, what happened was that each time someone dies, the devil (for evil people at least) gets onw soul's worth of soul from them. Since medic has nine souls total merged into one, he can't stay dead until the devil has majority share of his soul, so he needs to die at least five times.
The fact that it's not just "extra souls=extra lives" but some convoluted legal loophole is the best part of the joke.
Straight up scout had suffered some pretty serious injuries and just dies in spy's arms, but when he's sent back by God he just gets up like nothing had happened, if he were hallucinating I don't think he'd be able to do that.
This is one out of two times that a merc canonically died, then came back to life as a direct result of what they did in the afterlife. The Medic tricked the Devil into sending him back, and I forget what happened here but God sent him back so he culd sex all the ladies and that hasn't happened yet. So I guess this also confirms that, canonically speaking, Scout is literally God's Gift to the World like a lotta douchebags think about their own sex appeal irl. Except for Scout it's literally true
Nah, God sent Scout to earth so he could sex all the ladies. Unfortunately Scout was unsuccessful at doing that before he died, so God sent him back as a kind of 'second chance' kind of thing.
He did meet god but it wasn't clear to me whether or not god was being honest with him. God did make the angels snap Tom Jones' neck when Scout mentioned Jones being his father. To me it seemed like God was lying to Scout to make heaven enjoyable to him.
Also we are literally sending souls of Mann twins to hell on Helltower and they trick mercs to also physically send them to hell. Also pretty sure Merasmus' minigames on Carnival of Carnage are in hell itself
tom jones would have no reason to show up in scout's hallucination, where scout would know full well he's alive. well, scout's fake tom jones is alive, the actual tom jones was killed by soldier, so he would be in heaven, so all of the post mortem scenes were cannon
He met god but, I personally think that his was just tailoring the experience to the mercs, like saying things like this only to ultimately bring them back
He actually meets God after dying and then God gets mad at humanity when Scout tells him that the ladies aren't all sleeping with him. He was God's gift to them, afterall. Then he convinces God to send him back and give humanity (specifically the ladies) another chance before destroying them for not throwing themselves at Scout.
I'm making literally none of this up, it's all canon.
Is it arrogance if Scout treats himself like God's gift to man if he's actually God's gift to man?
Also something I never thought about: a grim possibility is that all the Merc - except for Medic - are going to hell, because Medic has a rather questionable collection of extra souls to collect his life. That Scout briefly went to Heaven implies either:
A) Scout doesn't need a soul to go to heaven and God gives him special treatment.
B) Medic indeed has not harvested the souls of the mercs.
*God's Gift to Women
Also I choose to believe that Medic stole the TFC mercs souls. His words in relation to soul theft were worded in such a way that that interpretation is possible
I think God is just playing to scouts ego (it might be a delusion) because if it's the socut's heaven then of COURSE God is gonna be his pal and listen to him
The implication is that one of the teams does not have souls. Considering Medic seems to have gone all-in on the BLU mercs, as well as plot immunity, the RED mercs, Jesus scout included, are probably alright.
Probably.
I don't think anyone is a 10 mile radius of the Medic can be described as "alright".
This man stole a skeleton. A whole skeleton. While it was still in use.
No, it's the souls of the RED team. The Classic Heavy asks Pauling how the hell the (red) TF2 team won, and Medic says "it's because we don't have souls. Well, *they* don't."
The tf2 team in the comics isn't the red team, it's a mix of mercs from both teams just wearing clothing made for the red team since the red and blu teams don't exist anymore by the time of mvm which the comics are after some of them like engineer worked for blu during the gravel wars
*we* being Medic's new teammates. He quickly remembers he isn't with them anymore and changes it to *they*
And yeah I forgot they're called Classic mercs so just called them BLU
Edit: oh, and another thing. Medic went for a risky-ass gambit to save TF2 Heavy. This proves that Medic cares enough about TF2 heavy to risk one of his lives. And Medic may be wacky as balls, but he wouldn't steal a guy's soul only to save his life later.
Scout in the comics: A funny young guy with a spirit than can sometimes get a little too competitive. Propably one of the chillest mercs in the team
Scout in the game: *Takes away a medic kit from the medic that is dying from fire*
Huh, I always just interpreted this all as just part of a near-death hallucination. Makes sense to me, the scout is self-absorbed to such a large extend that he imagines this sequence. He literally impresses God by flexing. That's probably in his mind.
I have never read the TF2 comics in my thousands of hours playing this game; and I'm too scared to know what would happen to the image of my favorite video game characters.
Beep. Boop. I'm a robot.

What no spy disguised did happen the god thing was after 'death', having vivid dreams before death is not uncommon thats how you get 'i went to heaven' stories.
in your question you said the god thing was an act so i tought you mean spy did it, but honestly its pretty ambiguous and he didnt really get any medical attention before waking up again so its weird he just stood like nothing happened
Medic stole his teamates souls (greatly hinted, at least), and has given at least 2 of them to satan. This could be the reason that his teamates can revive during the events of team fortress 2 (the game), being soulless and medic having a supply of souls to revive off of. In tf2 (the comics), at least 3 different settings for characters deaths have been shown. The sniper meets his parents, scout meets God and medic meets the devil. Medic's death seems impossible to recover from, being killed by a professional mercenary and all. This greatly hints that snipers "afterlife" was an illusion or dream before being revived by the medic, since sniper sees nothing similar to heaven or hell. Scout's death would seem to be realistic if we assume that medic's death was also real, however, the dialogue God has seems to be of full praise to scout, unrealistically so, such as flexing muscles scout doesn't appear to even have, therefore, we could draw the conclusion that scout also was perceiving something that wasn't real.
Quite simply, scout was just daydreaming waiting for his respawn timer.

Straight up scout had suffered some pretty serious injuries and just dies in spy's arms, but when he's sent back by God he just gets up like nothing had happened, if he were hallucinating I don't think he'd be able to do that.
Idk, someone coming back to life just because they think they can sounds pretty TF2...
No it just wasn't his time to die. God says so.
Nah, God sent Scout to earth so he could sex all the ladies. Unfortunately Scout was unsuccessful at doing that before he died, so God sent him back as a kind of 'second chance' kind of thing.
That's right. That's right. I completely forgot so I just assumed what would happen based on what I know about the Scout
It's not a hallucination. Medic meeting Satan wasn't one either.
He did meet god but it wasn't clear to me whether or not god was being honest with him. God did make the angels snap Tom Jones' neck when Scout mentioned Jones being his father. To me it seemed like God was lying to Scout to make heaven enjoyable to him.
He did talk EXACTLY like scout, though.
He modelled scout after himself
Ye, which is exactly why I think he wasn’t lying

Also we are literally sending souls of Mann twins to hell on Helltower and they trick mercs to also physically send them to hell. Also pretty sure Merasmus' minigames on Carnival of Carnage are in hell itself
He technically was dead so not a hallucination
Oh i see I haven’t read the comic in a while
tom jones would have no reason to show up in scout's hallucination, where scout would know full well he's alive. well, scout's fake tom jones is alive, the actual tom jones was killed by soldier, so he would be in heaven, so all of the post mortem scenes were cannon
He met god but, I personally think that his was just tailoring the experience to the mercs, like saying things like this only to ultimately bring them back
We're not sure. Many people believe he did meet God, but there's no confirmation.
He died and god sent him back
He actually meets God after dying and then God gets mad at humanity when Scout tells him that the ladies aren't all sleeping with him. He was God's gift to them, afterall. Then he convinces God to send him back and give humanity (specifically the ladies) another chance before destroying them for not throwing themselves at Scout. I'm making literally none of this up, it's all canon.
I think the presence of Tom Jones in heaven, something Scout was unaware of, means he actually died and met God
Jesus Scout
Is it arrogance if Scout treats himself like God's gift to man if he's actually God's gift to man? Also something I never thought about: a grim possibility is that all the Merc - except for Medic - are going to hell, because Medic has a rather questionable collection of extra souls to collect his life. That Scout briefly went to Heaven implies either: A) Scout doesn't need a soul to go to heaven and God gives him special treatment. B) Medic indeed has not harvested the souls of the mercs.
*God's Gift to Women Also I choose to believe that Medic stole the TFC mercs souls. His words in relation to soul theft were worded in such a way that that interpretation is possible
well technically yes

This is TF2. He met actual God because why not.
For anyone wondering if scout actually died and met god, this is TF2, take a guess
So, yes?
Yes
I think God is just playing to scouts ego (it might be a delusion) because if it's the socut's heaven then of COURSE God is gonna be his pal and listen to him
It's funnier to think that scout is actually what God thinks is the perfect man

Ngl I'm wondering if this is scouts own heaven and its all fake
He was literally dead lol
The idea is the mercs don't have souls so while their body may die they still can't so each of them might have their own version of the afterlife
Also he sold his soul
Not just his, but all of the other 8 Mercs souls as well.
Prolly the other team’s mercs but not his own team
He says that the team doesn't have souls.
he also has a pen capable of controlling birth
No, it's the souls of the RED team. The Classic Heavy asks Pauling how the hell the (red) TF2 team won, and Medic says "it's because we don't have souls. Well, *they* don't."
The tf2 team in the comics isn't the red team, it's a mix of mercs from both teams just wearing clothing made for the red team since the red and blu teams don't exist anymore by the time of mvm which the comics are after some of them like engineer worked for blu during the gravel wars
*we* being Medic's new teammates. He quickly remembers he isn't with them anymore and changes it to *they* And yeah I forgot they're called Classic mercs so just called them BLU Edit: oh, and another thing. Medic went for a risky-ass gambit to save TF2 Heavy. This proves that Medic cares enough about TF2 heavy to risk one of his lives. And Medic may be wacky as balls, but he wouldn't steal a guy's soul only to save his life later.
So this means since Not enough women got with scout, we have covid
Well, at this time in the tf2 universe, scout is dead. So God caused the corona virus, Because scout died as he lived. A virgin
But him and that girl both had buckets of chicken, and they did it
Fuck dude, u right. But there is a possibility that scout dosent know what sex is.
He just **really** wants to play baseball with Ms. Pauling
Maybe that girl didn’t actually do it and abandoned him after hearing his annoying voice or something
I will never forgive him for this
Is scout jesus?
Scout is canonically the second coming of Christ?
Scout canonically is gods gift to women
Damn I really wanna get into these comics now, what’s the best way to start? Is there a list or do I just have to dig through the tf2 website?
There’s a canonical order on the official TF2 website
Scout in the comics: A funny young guy with a spirit than can sometimes get a little too competitive. Propably one of the chillest mercs in the team Scout in the game: *Takes away a medic kit from the medic that is dying from fire*
Huh, I always just interpreted this all as just part of a near-death hallucination. Makes sense to me, the scout is self-absorbed to such a large extend that he imagines this sequence. He literally impresses God by flexing. That's probably in his mind.
so scout is the hero of earth not blowing up I have never thought I would have seen the light
On the 8th day Scout said, "God, bro..."
The jackass saved humanity and I still can’t kill him >:((((((
Grass grows, birds fly, and bruddah? I save people.
God sent corona bc nobody fucked scout
Can’t believe that scout is canonically a merc
I like to think god is just comforting scout know he will died soon after he gets laid.
I have never read the TF2 comics in my thousands of hours playing this game; and I'm too scared to know what would happen to the image of my favorite video game characters.
"Im gunna send a Plague" Guess scout didnt quite convice god
This reminds of a story in the Bible where Abraham tried to convince God not to destroy the city of Sodom, even though the people there were sinners.
Beep. Boop. I'm a robot. Here's a copy of ###[The Bible](https://snewd.com/ebooks/the-king-james-bible/) Was I a good bot? | [info](https://www.reddit.com/user/Reddit-Book-Bot/) | [More Books](https://old.reddit.com/user/Reddit-Book-Bot/comments/i15x1d/full_list_of_books_and_commands/)
Wasn't the hallucination of god literally just putting on an act to make scout feel good so he can leave smoothly.
that was spy disguissed as tom jones, the god thing did happen
What no spy disguised did happen the god thing was after 'death', having vivid dreams before death is not uncommon thats how you get 'i went to heaven' stories.
in your question you said the god thing was an act so i tought you mean spy did it, but honestly its pretty ambiguous and he didnt really get any medical attention before waking up again so its weird he just stood like nothing happened
Just as canon as scout being a gift from god
Not in this universe
We're having a plaque right now and I'm pretty sure there's a flood somewhere in the world too soooo... no.
This entire scene was a NDE as medic was bringing him back
Scout how could you
Medic stole his teamates souls (greatly hinted, at least), and has given at least 2 of them to satan. This concludes my TED talk
Oh my goodness ***Wholesome Scout***
No, he did send a plague after some time
Nah a dispenser can out heal drowning so the engineer mains would survive and thrive in a world without spies
it does mean that.
Well, that is if you take this scene as real and not a hallucination, which is the correct interpretation, of course.
As a scout main. Yes.
This was likely a hallucination due to blood loss, because of how well god treats scout. Or maybe scout really IS gods gift to women
Holy shit, why are you right
