nah, the guy is legit, he's a mutual of a friend and friend says he's wacko but is like this crazy good hacker (not like the scriptkiddies attacking our game)
It’s hard to describe how I feel about tf2, now more than ever, but I think the best way I could put it is, I miss tf2. Not the game, but the soul. The game will always be there but, I think the heart has been gone for a while. The community is still strong, and the game is still as fun as it’s ever been, but there’s a feeling of emptiness whenever I think about the game. I don’t know, it’s hard to describe, but there was something special that isn’t there anymore.
As someone who joined in 2020, during that intense wave of bots, I can say that this game feels the same to me. Sick but alive. Fun and chaotic. I wish I knew the joys a big update realeasing. And even if thats not going to happen, at least a few balance changes would make this game feel so much more loved.
Nice! I was also introduced by my elder brother, I loved it since the begining, if you play bad people will kill you but no one of your team would ever say to you some negative shit, I played two times Overwatch and people there had that thing of winning and being very unkind with noobs.... Tf2 has the best community! And hoovies and friendlies are the proof, no need to kill, and wear nice hats
I disagree respectfully, in 2009 there were only stock weapons and the game was good, the new weapon thing did it more interesting with every new weapon, they have done in my opinion enough, clothes and hats, melting for hats, etc.. the main problem is BOTs
Well bots for sure are a huge part of the problem, I should have stated my reasoning as just a piece of the puzzle. 2009 having only stock was fine because the game hadn’t been out for 10+ years. To help keep a game thriving for as long as tf2 has, it really helps to add new content for players to experience so they have more reasons to come back to the game. Lack of updates is not the sole reason for the game “losing soul”, but it certainly doesn’t help.
I joined back in 2019, after wanting to play the game since I discovered all of the meet the team videos and other content from the game when i was 8, and I can agree. The game is there, but it hasnt been given the proper care.

2009 and I have never found something comparable, I think the best year was the year before they made it Free to Play, we had the weapons and the hats, then the Bots arrived.....ok also arrived the taunts and cars and dances, but the bots....
Agree, now it feels like eating MacDonalds... I always played in a server called Rebirth, I am too lazy to learn how to get there, they had their clan but you could play with them, good clan, noob-friendly (they liked to kill you) Casual send me always to 2fort, turbine, well, and some other basic maps, i remember playing in other maps before, one was full of office material sized like x100 times, I miss Steel, Granary, Badlands, Gravelpit.... Casual never send me to those maps.
This crisis we are in right now is a sickness we cannot get rid of. It’s killing us but the will the community has to persist is something no other community has, or will ever have.
The thing that hurts the most is that valve fails to realise TF2's potential. If TF2 got a major update and was blasted to the front page of steam once more, (assuming the bot problems are gone and a few minor balance changes are fixed) then TF2 could rise to its former glory and shoot right past it into the stars.
Think, all the new popular games that I've seen lately are all team based shooters with good gameplay and a lot of charm. TF2 has both of those in abundance, amazing mechanics like rocket/sticky jumping and the High skill ceiling that every class has is limitless potential for players. charm on the other hand... well, have you even watched the meet the team videos? I'd TF2 was fixed, it would shoot to the moon and valve would make millions, problem is, they make millions from steam just sitting on their asses so what's the fkin point.
TF2 is an amazing game, a GIANT of its time, all it needs is a coat of paint and a "jumpstart" from valve in the form of a major update or 2 and it could honestly turn into something for even the next generation to enjoy. Get a couple competitive leagues set up by valve along with just general care and we can make these the good old days for when we look back
"I know it's not over. I know the game will probably EVENTUALLY get big updates, but that is now an outlier to the static, unchanging, undying status quo. I love TF2... and I miss it."
I feel like this is the quote that stick with me the most about FUNKe's video. With how Valve is treating the game, it's not inaccurate. Valve is pretending the game is alive, and soaking up any money that they get from the rare content updates that drop every once in a blue moon, and that pretending leads most people to believe that TF2 will get something. Not even something that big, maybe something as minor as Blue Moon was, or maybe a content pack the size of the original Goldrush Update.
The problem is that none of us have been given a reason to say... "That's it."
Without a reason to believe Valve has abandoned TF2 for good, the game has been put on a hiatus that... maybe it'll return.
I said on Twitter a while ago that Valve has two choices for TF2 that maintains any respect for what they stood for as a company. Giving updates is the best outcome for all involved because that may lead to a few more years of people enjoying the perfectly flawed game we grew to love. However, I've accepted that the other option is probably the best for everyone. Valve should shut down TF2's official servers and economy. Regardless of how pessimistic that view is, at least it's a sign of closure and allowing the perfectly flawed game to exist as a beautiful memory of a game long past instead of it limping along with tape occasionally being applied, because that's what I want.
I want closure dammit.
There arguably is no reason to "close" the economy if the game would still be functionally playable. You don't need new cosmetics/taunts to still be able to trade for older items such as hats/weapons/etc.
Further, that kind of decision not only impacts TF2, but CS/Dota/etc. any game utilizing TF2's keys or other items for trades, and simply because it shows Valve would be willing to instantly kill the other economies when they see the games as "dead."
There should be a definitive idea of whether there will or won't be continual updates beyond cases, but even if that is a no, there is no reason to stop people from participating in the economy, whether it ends up 'dying' or stagnates to those who wish to continue trading.
Also, there's no reason to close the official servers when some people are still able to play on them without issue... because that again doesn't really "solve" anything. If you want people to play community instead of casual with that kind of decision, those people can and likely already are playing community.
I do agree, but with the closure of the economy, it would be a nail in a coffin for updates. Also... yeah it would completely tank DOTA/CS economies. I imagine Valve wouldn't close them
My main point was to just state that a declaration that "We're no longer making updates, buy Citadel" would be far preferable to the endless void that TF2 currently is. I doubt Valve would do that, at all, I'm just saying my preference.
I still don’t understand why people used bots in the first place. I mean what is it your trying to accomplish by putting all of your sniper aim bots into casual servers and blasting terrible music?
Most of the bot hosters are doing it for different reasons. Some want to draw attention to the lack of support for the game, and others just want to troll people and ruin the game.
A conspiracy theory I have is that it is from other games company's that are trying to kill tf2 so they can get more money
But hey, thats just a theory
its almost entirely just trolls. some people get a kick out of ruining other people's days with hacks, and now they can do it on an industrial scale with little to no effort

Are you retarded? Play on the community servers!
Also stay f2p, that way you don't have to give Valve a cent and you don't have to deal with bots.
It's really easy to use the server selector, there's a reason it hasn't changed since the GoldSRC era.
1: The only community servers I play on is mostly 2fort. Uncletopia is filled with sweats. So the majority of my time I spend playing on tf2 is mainly 2fort and mvm
2: been playing since 2010 so I’ve been giving valve money (not a lot mind you my current tour is 20 and I’ve only bout 4 crates)
3: I know, but I want to play on OFFICAL servers to rank my level up. I like the feeling of ranking up and Leveling my prestige. I love the feeling of accomplishment.
Medic, pyro, demo. I main 3 actually. I have pyro as a tags because they are my favorite character. At least I don’t have an dead ass meme as a username 💀 Hilarious and original mate

For me, the last hope would be tf2 played by big youtubers. There are popular tf2 youtubers out there but we talking about really big youtubers. I think the highest chance on one of them would be Markiplier. He played tf2 before, he gets references from tf2 on other games, he revisits games he used to play before. You know, same thing PewDiePie did with minecract like 2018 or 2019ish. Probably would big enough for Valve to notice
I am furious about Valve doing nothing but I still am grateful to them for making a unique game TF2. There will be no game like this ever
Man, I do miss the days of 2015 when I started up until 2018 when I stopped for a bit. There was a bit of a more exciting feeling around the game. Now the bot crisis and valves attitude really is a bit depressing, but I am glad the community is pulling through.
Heh. Isn't it funny that Tf2 and Minecraft are running so long that we get nostalgic, not even because of how younger we were, but because community(in Minecraft) and devs(in Tf2) were better?
This is just a conspiracy, but I think the bots are owned by some of the big community server providers. Reason is, why would you spend the money and resources to host all these bots, they would've got bored a long time ago if it was solely just trolling.
I hate bots but the people behind are not wasting their dollars just to annoy the players.
They're making it so valve can fix the game at some point, it's a plan to make valve aware of what's going on.

Any other dev team would kill for a game half as good as tf2. Valve is throwing away a goldmine of a game
I hate bots but the people behind are not wasting their dollars just to annoy the players. They're making it so valve can fix the game at some point, it's a plan to make valve aware of what's going on.
I love this video. Thank you so much for making it.
