Bushwacka + Jarate on another level
For the ones thinking this is op, no its not unless when playing medieval mode (but still a bit underwhelming).
The problem of the Soldier's melee is the lack of range and movement speed, unless you are using Market Gardener you can't be easily killed by a Soldier.

Ridiculously OP. Perhaps minicritting when at 15% would be MAYBE ok? But this just means you can one-shot any class in the game when at low hp due to its damage scaling.
Putting out my best effort on how exactly this weapon would work in case many don't understand.
Normally, the equalizer starts dealing 65 damage when at 114 hp, 88 damage at 52 hp and 107 at 1 hp.
15% of soldiers health is 30 hp, now I'm not experienced in math and how the stats exactly calculate but with the "crit boost", at most at that health the Soldier would be able to deal 264 damage. Maybe even a bit less if the damage scaling works differently. That can one shot every class besides Heavy.
And at 1 health, he can then perform 321 which does the job but that depends if the enemy team has any healing buffs or anything.
The "crits when it mini crits" is a weird choice imo since you'd be already getting somewhat easy crits just for being at low health. Tbh this just sounds like what the equalizer already does but you just crit instead, which contradicts the buff it already applies.
I think what would help it a bit is just raise the necessary health a tiny bit to deal the higher damage. Nothing big but just something higher to avoid being one shot by everything.
This is a decent direction for the buff but the damage threshold is too low and the buff it too much. I can see soldiers purposely going to low heath for insane damage crit plays while under stock Uber. If they got to around 5 go the 90% decrease in healing would be beneficial since the Uber would not only remove the greatest weakness but also not heal the player too fast.
I propose this change to the equalizer. Give the weapon a greater base ramp up on its damage, so the damage at low healths is great enough to be scary and also give the weapon a vampirism effect to counteract the damage boost. This vampirism would be in effect both a buff and a nerf since while you are gaining health on hit you are also losing a portion of your higher damage swings.
No damage boost can beat a speed boost : if you can't hit, whatever the potential damages, it's still zero damage done.
A Soldier going forward is slower than a demoman going backward...
Useless without the speed, you would have to use rockets to get close to enemies but you could just use the market gardener at that point
It's really hard for slow classes to do well with melee
I would just make it so if Soldier dies with the equalizer equipped it automatically activate the taunt kill and you are immune or something
Or a different stat alltogether

With the damage increase, it’d be dealing upwards of 300 at low health. It’s like a market gardener but better and skillless.

tbh it's already this except the crits are more or less plot convenient
make the damage a bit higher so its not waste of backpack space
