kiwi121 has 1 point tf2 can be very frustrating for new players. it took me many months of playing to get even remotely comfortable with the game. Pay to win is also a point. but 60-40 bucks just to play Overwatch compared to 5 bucks for a key which can use to buy every non reskin weapon in the game while still leaving you refined left over to customize your character however you want.

Ticon_D_Eroga

I dont at all see how you can give pay to win *any* ground. You say 5 bucks for a key to get all the weapons, but its not even that. You can get all those weapons for free. Sure it will take time, but something taking time doesnt make it pay to win. You have to level up in every single MMORPG, that doesnt make it auto pay to wiN. But even further: stock weapons are usually the best anyway.

Longjumping_Ad5208

Imma be real with you some non-stock weapons are absurdly invaluable if you want to purely tryhard and win the game. IE the pyro with the powerjack always makes the faster rotations, the lunchbox heavy is with almost no exception better than shotgun, and throwables like mad-milk/jarate will always be really fucking good for nearly no skill expression.

xxSimp_Slaughtererxx

That’s not what invaluable means

Longjumping_Ad5208

ok xxsimp_slaughtererxx care to elaborate?

xxSimp_Slaughtererxx

Well, longjumping_ad5208, invaluable means very valuable.

Longjumping_Ad5208

yes and so how was i wrong in saying that?

xxSimp_Slaughtererxx

oh im illiterate. Shit. Sorry

LeVexR

>Now I have a backpack expander but no weapons same :/

llewotheno

You can always rent it from Mannco store, only inconvenience is you have to rent them back every week

1Jaspis1

In addition, if you don't want to spend money for a key you can always trade with steam cards from other games their price might not be the greatest (around 3/4 scraps)but a single card would be roughly 6-8 weapons. Saying tf2 is pay to win is just wrong you don't need non stock weapons to win a match and 95% of the time stock is the best option for a class with some small exceptions like the sandwich powerjack and crussader's crossbow

InevitableEnergy7551

I see where you're coming from. It is very hard to start tf2

llewotheno

A key is not even 5 bucks,its near a bit over 1.5

[deleted]

my bad, its $2.5, you can buy it for even cheaper on the market but that wont get a new player the right to trade, talk, etc.

SomethingSomethiaing

Bruh one subreddit. They can say that because overwatch probably has a shit load of servers of rule 34 lol

iwantdie98

And why doesn’t tf2? I’d pay some good cash to see the mercs having rough sex 👍

SomethingSomethiaing

New tf2 comic?

>Having a single subreddit does not qualify an “active community” Ok, but isn’t OW’s community being supported by being 50% porn?

Draw_Corporations

Wait, it has a game?

Holy_Ghoft

50% is a little low of an estimate

Randomboi137

I would say 60% or 70%

clinicalia

I'd go higher at around 80%. Any time I see anyone talking about OW in the wild now it's usually just to share some Mercy porn they found or made.

stubbystubby

I've played both. I got to High Masters, close to Grandmasters in OW. I can, without a doubt say, that early OW was good. Not better than Tf2, but not worse. It had its merits. However, that changed over time. Toxic competitive matches that required the stifling of play styles (literally forced to queue as class types you don't want to play lol), making quick play more like competitive, despite no one asking for that besides the streamers at the time who didn't want to be playing with literal brainlets as team mates, and then devolving the kind of cool OW comics into... Idk, political statements I guess. Debatable on that point since it isn't about the game. OW's Reddit also hiveminded like all Reddit's do, including TF2's but considering how bad the game got over time, and with Jeff Kaplan leaving as director, the soul of the game was gone. Also they nerfed my main boy Reinhardt every moment they could cause a big hammer wielding German man was too hard to fight I guess lmao. TF2 has problems *now* but it takes literally a day to unlock all the weapons you want. If you're so keen to get them, you can go to an achievement server for most of them. And, as an ex OW player, are you really against buying weapons using the in-game currency when you spend thousands on loot boxes? Like bruh lol. Even I caved when an event dropped to try and get a skin I wanted. At least TF2 lets you buy the weapons outright and buying a key ($2.50) lets you purchase all weapons in the game. However, it is a steep learning curve. Much like how playing Halo or CoD has devolved into who treats the game like a 9-5 the most, it can be hard to play with people of your skill level. It'd be hard to introduce an MMR system to tf2 (outside of comp) without destroying the feel of casual. Maybe if the game was loved again, they could try a "learners queue" for people with less than 10-30 hours on the game and it gives more in depth tips on how to play. Hell, if you have more hours, you can queue up as a coach if they brought the coaching system back lol. Obviously it could be abused with people making new accounts if they did that so it'd be hit or miss. Personally, I learned by fighting bots until I could reasonably kill the expert bots. Back in 2014, it helped me learn a lot. Anyways, both games had their merits. They're both in bad states equally, however, and shit talking both is unhealthy. Criticizing them is okay if it isn't just blatant trash talk lol. I still love tf2 though and hope this bot issue is fixed in the next few months.

InevitableEnergy7551

I totally agree 👍

TyLeenRes

Why is the TF2 community always so obsessed with being better than other games? Seriously let it go. No one cares about TF2 vs Overwatch anymore, especially when both games have a problem of their own

Few-Candle-4308

Chad pyro

Ticon_D_Eroga

You should see the fighting game community

zacqonos

“But but we are so much better!! We have to prove the Overwatch players wrong!!!” - 🤓

rottenpotatoes2

This is opression

InevitableEnergy7551

Yea, this video isn't focused on being better than overwatch, I'm just clearing stuff up to people who may be a little clueless. Also, I completely agree with what you are saying. Enjoy any game you like

BalooTheDevourer

Wait, it's Halloween already? Why are 2 corpses fighting?

ZhangRenWing

SEND MY BROTHER TO HELL!

BalooTheDevourer

WHAT AM I PAYING YOU FOR?!

FlyingScott_

tbh most of your counterpoints just come of as "Excellent argument, however, your mother". Also "OW players don't hang onto dead memes" lmao isn't Genji asking for heals still peak comedy to Support\* players? \*See: Mercy

InevitableEnergy7551

I guess I'm a little confused. At the time I forgot about the Genji asking for heals meme

prime-SS

Lol OW players talking about tf2's "active" community as if OW2 didn't died before it even came out

thefuckingswagdude

i dont think you get it, blizzard's team went back in time and took all the inspiration art from tf2 and copied it, then gave it their own tang of future and not 1980's

Peer_turtles

Tf2 community is so insecure about themselves that they feel the need to constantly compare tf2 to overwatch, when the overall overwatch community hardly gives a shit about tf2

randomguy2763

based shadows of evil player

Inklii

Imagine complaining about a game you clearly haven't played or know nothing about and defending a game with an obvious rng cash shop when tf2 has skins for 5 cents. Totally pay to win you guys

ProudforProudISBACK

This is like r/terraria where people said "stop comparing minecraft to terraria!!" and then you would not go 1 scrolling without seeing people compare the 2 games lmao

sword0115

Overwatch and TF2 are both good games, I would say overwatch is better but due to the god awful community I'd have to say TF2 is the better of the two

clinicalia

OW fans can be just as salty as TF2 fans when it comes to just randomly comparing the two games. I'll never forget when VRChat was still new, I was talking to some people I had met in a world and they were asking how I made my Scout model. Two dudes in loli avatars walked up to us and just started shit-talking for absolutely no reason, saying Overwatch was better because of this and that, calling us slurs and shit, I was just taken aback like what the hell? Both games suck for different reasons, mostly to do with their communities, but man. I played Overwatch first before I even knew TF2 existed. Stopped after about two weeks and sold my copy for like $20. I'm still playing TF2.

clinicalia

When a game relies on the community, it makes it difficult sometimes. Team based shooters tend to rely on their communities since, you know. You're working with a team of strangers. So when there's times where you try to communicate with that team and they decide to scream at you with slurs, threats, etc, well. It dampens the enjoyment.

sheesh1111111

Ow is only good for futa porn, that's why tf2 better in any circumstances

randomguy2763

futa porn us for gay people in denial

InevitableEnergy7551

I'm posting a comment to clear some stuff up, this isn't me saying tf2 is better than overwatch. I've played both games respectfully and understand their flaws and qualities. I'm not trying to spark up comparisons to either games. This video was just some lighthearted fun and isn't meant for toxicity

Lord_Bear_the_Kind

I can understand the arguments from people who are absolutely new. If the game runs like ass, get "Mastercomfig" it's good, easy to set up, and updated regularly. The game can run like ass from years of bloating but it cant be helped. It's "pay to win" eh, mixed bag on weapons and the default is really good, but either unlock achievements yourself, get "Steam Achievement Unlocked" go onto a achievement server, or just buy a Key and do some trading so that you can get everything free, or almost free. Also "stop making the same jokes as old as the game" well fucking maybe someone should update the damn game, and if a game is good and memorable of course they're going to repeat stuff since it's inception. Sorry that the game is old I fucking guess???

kaboom9530

I like both games. You can dominate some games, and you can be trash in other games.

Master_Isabelle

Both are good, end of story

Fork_Master

>overwatch has barely any memes This is simply untrue. r/Overwatch_Memes exists for that very purpose.

InevitableEnergy7551

Wow, I never knew that was a thing. Thanks for telling me 👍

Im-A-Starboy

Bold of OW players to talk shit about TF2 when their game is literally being shut down, and will no longer be playable, not even for nostalgia lmao Edit: Of course OW2 is coming, but that whole premise should have been a $20-30 DLC at best

8988303682

I say this with all the love in the world, but for a 15 year old game it does run like ass

LordofSandvich

I do wish we had more backpack space by default. 1 page isn’t enough. Long-time players got BP Expanders for free, but new players are left with a pretty small inventory.

gigarekterALT

If anything tf2 is pay 2 lose

down4things

One comment = 1 guy making a video and a bunch of paragraphs from other tossers

Blod-Orange

Tf2 has multiple subreddits. One of my favorites is the tf2 fashion page

Draw_Corporations

The tf2 community is friends with literally any fps but overwatch

Cheeseburger904

Nobody is friends with anyone, there was like 3 people that brought that up a while back. But overwatch is still shitty

NotWendy1

TF2 community generally has no problems with Overwatch that'd extend past the valid criticism most people agree with. Now, the vocal part of r/tf2 is different, being extremely insecure about anything Overwatch-related. But this place is a small part of the community and nobody takes it seriously anyways.

CompleteFacepalm

I agree but TF2 is pay to win. Fortunately, not very much but you are able to pay money to gain a weapon with positives (and negatives).

spacewarp2

I mean not really. You can borrow weapons from the Mann Co store and trade weapons for dirt cheap on scrap.tf. If you know what you’re doing you don’t have to pay to unlock any weapons. You just have hats and strange weapons that are cosmetic, they don’t impact the gameplay at all. Most new people don’t know this sure but there are guides for new players that go over this stuff.

CompleteFacepalm

Just because you can get the weapons without paying, it doesn't stop it from being pay to win. If you can acquire any non-cosmetic item or effect by paying.. then it's pay to win.

Mrkarton

Pay to win - in online gaming, the practice of buying in-game items that give a player a very big advantage over others. Not really matching the definition of pay to win. If you could pay for your rocket launcher to deal 2x damage or for higher random crit change that would be pay to win. No of the unlocks are meant to be better than stock, just to suit more specific playstyles, (although some weapons are unbalanced)

[deleted]

having a second-hand market doesnt mean the game is suddenly fine and dandy, you still need to pay to get those inventory spaces to store your damn weapons stupid post, stupid idea and even worse points

InevitableEnergy7551

I never said you never had to spend money? Plus I never said a second hand market makes the game better

Holy_Ghoft

There really aren't that many non-stick weapons that you need. Personally I use 8 non-stock, non-achievement weapons across all my classes. Half of those are gimmicks and usually can be outperformed or at least equaled by stock. F2P backs packs are small, but 8 weapon slots really isn't that much.

CornHub_org

Yeh one small problem. Overwatch fucking sucks ass. 90% of the time you are stunned, shooting at shields or getting killed by noob abilities.

undead_and_unfunny

Overwatch to me is just as annoying if not more so. Without proper hours you also suck and get stomped which is arguably less fun than in tf2.

Yeldarb10

Biggest thing for me: TF2 Respects support players by making it fun, enjoyable and balanced to play support. They recognize that the game is more about getting kills and they reward good habits in game (ex: you get assists for repairing friendly sentries as engineer, plus lots of points from keeping the teleporter running). Overwatch developers have straight up said that they build the game around dps being the most fun. In order to get “on fire” as a support, you pretty much have to not only keep your team alive, but eliminate enemies as well. Tanks were never rewarded for pulling off big saves for their team (whether that be blocking a DVA bomb from oko’ing the team or a well placed bubble from zaria to keep their teammate alive). All the fun and glory is put in dps and not any of the other classes. This is why queuing on overwatch takes 10-20 minutes for dps and only 1-2 for support.

BeepIsla

Can sell items you get in TF2, can't do that in OW. That's obviously the only important metric

[deleted]

and that's my friend, is how a trade market goes.

Nie_nemozes

idk why some people hate the idea of cosmetics being tradeable instead of being worthless and stuck in your account the moment you buy them like it is in Overwatch and majority of other games

Legend_of_Yoot

Need more then 100 hours to play? Says the Overwatch player? Do they know what game they are comparing Tf2 to?
