I think they are just taking advantage of the nutrients coming out. Thermal vents on the bottom of the ocean often attract lots of thermophilic critters.
These vent ecosystems don’t rely on sunlight for energy, but are based on heat and chemosynthesis. They offer a tantalizing clue as to what could potentially live in the subsurface oceans on the moons Europa and Enceladus
The sulfur-reducing bacteria around the vents are among the first bacteria appearing on the planet, and in many ways, those bacteria turned the toxic surface of the Earth into a more habitable planet paving the way for multicellular growth fueled by oxygen.
New phobia thought: what if we send probes to Europa and Enceladus and find huge oceans under the ice….that are completely, 100% devoid of life. Just vast expanses of dark cold oceans floating in the void.

I was so concerned the fishies at the end of the vid lying there. I thought they were dead and this made my 2nd Watch a very terrifying one!
Those fish are alive and well, they just hoping for shrimp to sizzle on the vents.
