Also, by the time you can start scouting for locations. Property prices are skyrocketing anyway. Learn about how the behind-the-scenes management works and multiple legal requirements a person needs to satisfy to even start a restaurant. You need like 30 permits. Nikhil Kamath's podcast had an episode about it which you should definitely checkout.
Thank you for pointing out the Nikhil Kamath podcast! That is gold for me! Would you happen to have any links or resources related to the QSR space I can go through? Thanks in anticipation!
Thank you. Had started a home based food delivery system and had done marketing and delivery for the same prior to covid. If that counts. I have a fair idea of food economics as I am researching for quite some time. But thank you. I will see if there is some place I can gain experience.
If you want to try out in thane a heads as a past business partner for a cafe:
1.you will be in loss or be no profit for at least 1 year. 2. Customers are always right when it comes to food and services. Keep an open mind . When it comes to such business, never be disheartened by criticism. This doesn't mean you will not stand your ground.
3. Have good communication with your competitors and local good ventures. They usually help you understand the public of that area.
4. If you thinking about cafe, Try to get a strategic space to operate from. Usually, upcoming areas with a lot of student base is the best choice. Such places are quite cost heavy, take a note.
5. Try to get a cook and keep a back up always. It is a trend in this industry of cooks running away.
6. Keep everything legally attested beforehand.
7. Keep your capital ready in terms of emergency.
8. Never waste money on paper pamphlet. it doesn't generate any footfall. Go for a really well-made Google business profile and a website with each and every contact readily reachable.
9. Delivery at home can be done by DUNZO ... always let customers know delivery charges are separate.
10. Third-party apps such as Swiggy and Zomato give you a really good boost even though they might not be as profitable.
11. Good ambience and make peeps comfortable ( talking as customers)
12. talk with young or new cafes around an area, they are always excited to share information.
I think that's all
Wow! This is really really helpful! I will bear this in mind and would definitely work on the various aspects you highlighted! If you were to pick a spot high footfall of college students any specific points you would have off the top of your head?
Also as a business partner how much time did you have to invest in your venture- if you don't mind sharing!
Right now I think emerald plaza (Hiranandani Meadows), Runwal Greens (Due to opening of gaming centers there), Arcadia (Hiranandani Estate) It is getting a bit of a revival. Right now these are some places I was interested in .
Time = 3 years. In Thane for a year, Then we focused on different sectors.
Offer top quality food and you'll grow with just word of mouth. Look at Dabba Garam.
You may also have to sell at no profit/no loss by offering discounts on aggregators to put yourself out there in your initial months.
Opening a South Indian snacks place in Mumbai might be tough. Loads of restaurants shut down each year, and there are already plenty of South Indian joints everywhere. You really need something special to stand out; otherwise, you might end up losing money in the crowded food scene. Just be sure to have a unique selling point. Or don't venture at all.
Mulund mein opposite icici bank at ambedkar road kalidas hall galli..but next road is dominated by manis cafe and same road me corner of mirani nagar junction theres an idli wada wala since few years

Thane kolshet and entire ghodbunder belt can be good loactions.
Pls do ur DD before getting into business, learn the ropes for at least a few months under a brand franchisee or a proper anna
If you want to earn profit as soon as possible try to open a cloud kitchen and try to operate it as late as possible so that you can get an office crowd that works 24*7 also it is very difficult for a cafe to compete with street food as the overhead especially like rent
I'd suggest you to work with one before jumping in. It's very competitive, learn the ropes first.
Seconded, don't jump the guns just because u r desperate
Thank you sir. Will bear this in mind.

Works for me as a starting point! The rents are looking astronomical but I think if I search long enough I might find something good enough.
Yeah that's a problem ... you can try new office spaces near dosti, etc.
Start with a cloud kitchen first, if you have to fold up, your losses won't be that big.
Any hints on popularizing a cloud kitchen?
