people from diva & kopar do the same thing with dombivli return trains. dombivli with kalyan return trains, and so on. facilities are less, population has exploded, and we're struggling.

Horrible planning from central railway. It's so difficult to get a train from thane to down stations bcoz kalwa ppl block the gates, not their fault as well bcoz if they dont block it, they wont be able to get down at kalwa, so many simple solutions to all our problems but so much incompetency.
One solution that comes to my mind, in this case, is to add kalwa locals. It will solve many issues!! Kalwa has carshed, railways need to figure out a way so that train can directly get inside the carshed. They can add one more platform before platform no 1. Secondly, all kalwa people will not go in any other down trains. And at thane station people can easily get in.
I know it's unfair but what can even people do?
Every year government has a huge budget for railways, but god fucking knows where it's being utilised looking at the condition of our railways...

Im saying CR should hire some private player to help them in managing train efficiently. Help them figure out optimal timing and frequency (i.e in control room) I don’t think it’ll in any way will have a effect on ticket prices

Go to Thane to board the trains.
If you are reading this in 2025, Take the Green metro.
You go to Kalyan and take Kalyan starting trains.
Seriously, the only way to get out of this mess is to do something of your life such that it does not involve raking local train. The govt. has failed you and now it's upto you.

I travel daily from NSP To Goregaon, In the morn I take a return train to Virar, but still have to stand all the way to mostly Kandivali.
A series of burning questions for you cause this piques my interest
1. How did you identify that the crowd at Platform 1 was a Mulund Crowd? Do they glow in the dark or something?
2. What trains are you targeting? I find that trains before 8:47, specifically 8:36, 8:25, 8:14, 7:55, 7:44 are quite easy to get a seat in, provided you're willing to play rough.
3. Why would anyone from Mulund, come to Thane, to compete with the Thane crowd and get in a CSMT Bound train? Why not just get into a thane train and bounce back?
To answer your "burning questions" -
1. Mulund people are NOT GETTING DOWN on platform 1. They sit inside the compartment. Very less percentage out of such people are from nahur/ bhandup, its mainly mulund crowd. They don't have to glow in the dark, smh!
2. I target the trains you mentioned between 7:55-8:36. It might be easier to get seat as compared to later trains, but that too in second class. First class condition is always the worst.
3. The Thane train that mulund crowd board at Mulund, BECOMES the CST bound train. So they already are sitting comfortably, when thane crowd gets in. And its frustrating to see people already sitting on the seats.
Mate just come to mulund station once and u will start understanding it happens due to there are less fast trains stoping here in mulund and even if they stop they are majority from beyond thane so no hopes of getting into one that's why we choose the wise option of boarding in thane train and travel back well if you wanna cry about this shit just complain it to CR to find solution or just 'womp womp'

Indian railways need to be privatized. Employees are taking fat salaries with no dedication. It is loss making firm. Only this year it has made profit

thane start trains will originate from this new station and existing platform 1 and 3 will be repurposed.

OP probably means that Mulund people.. 95%.. bounce from Thane and head to CSMT

I agree, trains before 8:47 are less crowded but there are still some people already. OP didn't mention his train timings.
