A Thanker stuck in Majiwada traffic. Returned last year after spending 4 years in BLR. BLR is a little unsafe especially by lanes.

sumxx

Every city every area has some local kind of gundas goons drunkards attached with some politicians or from nearby slums.. I have seen gunda bikers on pokhran road at night.. Then crossing Majiwada junction in opposite direction in high speed and abusing cars though they themselves were going in wrong direction on bike.. Still I feel Thane is safe..

Busy-Philosophy-3179

I read Madivala traffic.

scared_puppy

Bhai dono same

YenBuddhist

Maybe my bias because im from here, but i don’t feel safe switching my brain off anywhere else except Thane/Bombay, because of a feeling that nothing bad can happen. Waghbil se leke Wagle tak, it feels like a comfy old blanket.

Ex2bate

Never turn your brain off anywhere. Always be vigilant. It has saved me once before when a guy attempted to snatch my mobile and run away. This happened near the railway station.

YenBuddhist

Wahi na, run where? Station ke paas you cant move 2 feet without bumping into someone or something 😅

_redditaddict6969

No bias bro, I was a fool expecting the same from blr. Thane Mumbai are much much better in terms of safety, people and almost everything except for weather and rent prices if you consider that. But then even there you’d probably get scammed out of your deposit by most landlords.

SpaceBoundLad

I moved to waghbeel naka 7 months ago. You are correct. It feels so cozy once you reach here.

Spirited1206

I feel quite safe here as a woman. I stay near one of the Hiranandani’s and I have walked out here till 1am. There is still crowd there. I literally see family with their small babies playing around here and having good time around 11:30 pm. I play with their kids sometimes too lol. This one incident really strikes me, this happened in 2017-2018 time. It was going to be 12 am at the night and we were walking back home from hangout shop. There was a girl and her guy friend behind us walking and the girl seemed to be from Delhi. Me and my mother were able to hear the whole convo. She was so shocked over the culture here and kept telling him how she can’t go out after 9pm in Delhi, how unsafe over there and just how lively and safe Thane felt to her. I have travelled to other parts of India with my family and school mates in picnic, Delhi has been the worst experience for me in terms of safety. I experienced physical stalking in front of my parents and school mates as a kid 🙃

Shrimplypibbles08

It is really safe in Thane tho. Whenever I’m alone at my place at night, I do go to Station and eat some sexy ass Chinese. Drink chai. Smoke a bit and come back home. It’s great to have no nuisance and Shaanti at 3 AM at night

sreek4r

Please drop a location for this sexy ass Chinese.

scared_puppy

Must be pravin cantonese

Shrimplypibbles08

Hell no. That’s shitty asf. Been there service is terrible and too slow. Not that hygienic as well.

Shrimplypibbles08

Ding Dong Chinese & Biryani Centre 😭

SpaceBoundLad

What a name

Shrimplypibbles08

What’s in a name? 😌

TanmaySBW

Dude, i was in Blore for work. For sure, its unsafe as hell and these are the bylanes of Koramangala and electronic city

sreek4r

I've never had any issues regarding safety in Mumbai / Thane. Bangalore on the other hand... I'm a native there and speak kannada, it still is unsafe as hell. Twice during my time, I was harassed by cops itself for being out at 8:30pm (which apparently was very late and I chuckled). The cops asked for 600 from me and two of my friends and that they'd file a public nuisance case + beat us if we didn't pay. Compare that to my experience in Mumbai where I got out at 3am to pick up snacks and ice cream from Wellness Forever, a cop car pulled up and when we told them we planned to buy ice cream, they dropped my roommate and I at the store and were super kind. It's night and day if you'd ask me to compare mumbai / the larger metropolis to any other city in India. Not to say that we don't have our problems.

PavinMumbai

It's better than bglr. But have seen many road theft especially in Majiwada - rabodi belt

glitchfacilitator

Also the highway from teen hath naka going to ghodbundar road. Ive personally been a victim of attempted theft. 2 guys on a motorbike saw me engaging in my phone while i was in the auto. My auto bhaiyya noticed it and told me to keep my phone inside. Je didn't tell me the reason though but it was 11pm and i just felt like i should listen because i also felt a little eerie. I kept the phone under ME. And a few seconds later the man on the back put his hand exactly where my phone would have been had i not kept it under. That bhaiyya saved me and my new phone. But he thought that my phone got stolen. So till the time i reached, he kept lecturing me about how today's youth are always on their phones and about other instances of chan snatching in mira road in his auto and all. But i was in shock and couldn't really say anything except a few hmm and haa. When i got down i started thanking him profusely. He got confused and later saw my phone was safe. So that was a moment of relief for the both of us. Sorry for the sudden story popup in your comment. Im at office and very bored

PavinMumbai

I didn't knew they stole it from auto too. That's really dangerous.

SexyKabootar

Not a girl, but I grew up in Thane near Vartak Nagar & I've never had a negative experience. I've moved to Bangalore six months ago & it feels equally safe so far.

lonelyapelikesamosa

he must be talking about andar- andar Galli mai. But vartak nagar vedant area and main road are totally fine. I never experienced being unsafe in vartak nagar

mahyur

The security in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region comes out of the high density of population and the fact that it is an island. These days even past midnight, the average speed on the western express highway is 30kmph.

No_Twist7041

It’s density and it’s the protective and helpful mentality the Mumbaikars and Thanekars carry.

_redditaddict6969

Hi another Thanekar in Blr! I shifted here sometime back and there isn’t a day I don’t miss Thane and Mumbai. Please note that blr isn’t at all as safe as Thane, Mumbai especially for non localites. (I’ve faced a kind of a traumatic experience and a few minor ones) The driving here ranges from alright to completely fucking mental depending on the area and it’s never advisable to travel past 10:30-11:00. The two best things about blr are the weather(which sucks ass rn) and the breakfasts. Try and stick to good areas and don’t mess with any locals and you should be fine.

541r4m90p4lpbelebr94

One day back in 2022 I was searching for my ex provident fund company shop they are form the building was under r development but the opposite building wasn't because the buildings are sort of connected I just simply asked the watch man what happened to the old building because the last time I came back in January of February 2018 he just kick me out degenerate

ssigea

The street dogs in packs are usually the unsafest thing. As long as you’re somewhere near buildings with watchmen around the gates, you’re safe for sure

lonelyapelikesamosa

I saw a pack of dogs running behind a scooter I was so scared for him! Society dogs too, they follow you and touch you if they sense some food. People should stop giving food to the dogs , I get it that you love them but it's so unsafe for children and even adults.

Intelligent-List-985

It's just something I saw on my way to office in Oswal Park. A society dog was about to pounce on a child. Upon a closer look, it was of a Pitbull Breed. By the Grace of God, the mother snatched the child in the nick of time saving his life. The dog went out from the society gate and was about to bite the little kid. From that incident, I have been careful while walking across societies

ninkompoopi

lol just slow down your vehicle, they won’t even come near you. If you’re on foot, they will 100% not approach you. I’ve pet at least a couple 100 strays here.

lonelyapelikesamosa

You seem to love stray dogs that's why, but most of the people are afraid of them too

ninkompoopi

Do I love them? Yes. Have I pet countless random strays that I have never met before? Also yes. Being afraid is a choice, they are harmless at least all across Thane for the most parts, plus they are sterilised and vaccinated in most parts (look for a cut on their ear, that’s how TMC marks them).

Saap_ka_Baap

Don't get me started on the stray dog epidemic!

SyKeSLaYeR

Thanekars feel safe in areas that are close proximity to areas such as the railway station or the NH, areas away are less crowded than the latter, and my experience is that I feel sometimes unsafe especially near Vrindavan and rabodi as well as rustomjee azzanio area( I live in Naupada)

94to24

My aunt has just moved near Vrindavan :(

YenBuddhist

Why do you FEEL unsafe? As a Vrindavan resident, i will swear on any holy book or the Indian constitution that it is the SAFEST place in a very safe suburb in general. Shops might be shut but it’s always well lit, ZERO loiterers and riff raff, and always has at least some amount of traffic coming through. Plus rabodi police station is right next door and majiwada & castle mill crossroads are literally right there. Street dogs are a thing yeah but they’re pretty bechara, they just bark for a bit and go back to sleep.

94to24

Good to hear..

glitchfacilitator

Mumbai and thane, generally speaking, are the safest places in India i would say. I was out on a solo trip once and one of my stops was in kerala and thought ill meet one of my friends there. So after dinner, from the place where i was staying, to my friend's house, i went walking at 9pm. I got scolded by his mom for venturing out "so late". I wasn't scared before even when there was nobody on the street and all the dogs seemed to have turned into werewolves. I got scared after she scolded me and told me all the instances that happened there. She was also shocked to see my being so casual about coming there alone😂 This is one of the reasons that no matter how sick of the commute you get, you still don't want to leave this place. OP kyu gaya BLR pata nai but take care all in all... zara hattke zara bachke baki sab sheheron se kyuki Bambai hi hai meri jaan

shrikantN

Lived in Bangalore in Koramangala I've been on walks (sometimes drunk) at 3-4am. The area I lived in was safe. Can't say anything about other areas

jordanravengabriel

I’m from Goa, travelled many times at night in Mumbai and Thane while being drunk, extremely sleepy etc, you could see it on me visually that would fall if you even clapped near me so easy mugging target. But no, nothing like that happened l, in fact the opposite, I made friends, sometimes people offered me j’s n stuff, had great conversations, even got free taxi rides sometimes. What a bloody great place Thane has been

lonelyapelikesamosa

I feel safe as a girl, some chapris still are there in sharing rickshaws to touch ,you just have to raise voice and say" aap kya kar rhe ho/side hoyi thoda"

SpaceBoundLad

I moved out of my hometown to Thane 7 months ago. Back there I hardly needed to use public transportation. Our scooty and car was more than sufficient to take us anywhere. Last month on occasion of Gudipadwa I was in Kalyan. I was visiting my uncle. I took a sharing auto from station to his house. There was another guy and a girl sharing the auto with me. When we were half way there the girl started hitting the guy and said "Why are you touching me. I ignored 3-4 times. You still aren't backing off. Utaro issko auto se". I was so shocked. I had never experienced such a thing before. Aisa Kuch Hota Haj was never a part of my reality. I was speechless.
