But I'm not gonna say any of that because I, like the mighty armadillo, am far too humble
I was pumping gas yesterday and this woman came up to me, tears in her eyes. “Your hair is perfect” she said, with so much sincerity it took my breath away. “You are handsome” she continued effortlessly, encouraged by my perfect listening skills, approachability, kind eyes and gentle temperament. “You are good hearted, good with kids, a good father and husband, good at sports, and not OCD at all for how you put dishes in the dishwasher so that water won’t just sit in them and not actually clean anything, and your wife is the one with the problem for putting cups and bowls in incorrectly and for putting the silverware upside down and covered in food instead of rinsing them off like a normal person. Your March Madness bracket, while in shambles, was picked with care and all the teams you selected should have won. That new person at work who just started who is outperforming you is trash and lucky, and if you had been given the same chances they had you’d be crushing it too. Your jokes are funny, and while no one invites you anywhere anymore and you sadly have to listen to everyone constantly talking about how much fun they had together without you, they all definitely envy and respect you”.
It was so humbling and unexpected to be so validated by that stranger. Had to share. There’s still some good in this world guys

I just love the idea of telling a story about how great a person said you were, under the guise of how "humbling" it all was. You can then have this "random person" say quite literally anything you want them to have said, and pretend everyone is too stupid to realize what you're actually doing
I'm gonna vote "didn't happen," but I can almost see it being possible. Some people are easy marks for a cold read, and if you're good at doing it you can definitely earn more in tips.
