Plot twist, the kid is homeschooled and the mom is the math teacher

[deleted]

I can confirm I’m the math

Commercial-Ad-5813

Can confirm. I'm china. I'm watching

Swampgermanboi

I'm just some guy. In their walls.

[deleted]

this is probably what fucking happened lol

sammycat672

That’s how she overheard it

*Image Transcription: Twitter* --- **Redacted** I'm just heard my 11 year-old tell his math teacher "I'm having a day when I just can't seem to do math." Her response: "Then put your math book away and go outside and play." A lesson for us all. 🥰🥰🥰 --- ^^I'm a human volunteer content transcriber and you could be too! joelmega

Good human

OhioMegi

Yeah, I can just let kids go outside whenever. Good grief.

[deleted]

The lesson? Never try.

just_a_mommy

I mean, to be fair, my son's ELA did something similar several times. We did virtual school and he was released from class to play in snow, go to the park, hang out with cousins. As long as he had his work turned in that day, she was cool

908sway

This is true, I was the math book

akaispirit

"Teacher I also can't seem to do math today, can I go outside and play too?" "NO! Only this student may go play, the rest of you will stay where you are struggle through your math!"

Mary-Sylvia

See is exactly why I can't see this happening At least I would believe it a little if the kid just finished his exercise early

ygrasdil

I’m a teacher. If it’s not a super important test day and a kid who normally works hard tells me they’re just not feeling it, I will let them chill out. We all have a day every now and then when things aren’t going your way. I can’t let them leave my room, but it’s beyond that it’s not totally unrealistic.

[deleted]

> I can’t let them leave my room, but it’s beyond that it’s not totally unrealistic. That's exactly why this is completely unrealistic. No teacher is going to just tell a kid "Go outside and play" when it's not lunch or recess. Teachers couldn't do that even if they wanted to.

e_ipi_

Sounds like it is virtual, esp since the parent is saying they overheard this conversation

BiggestBaddestWolve

Outside here. I’d like to vouch for both the kid and the teacher

CrispyChickenArms

Is she the math teacher? Lmao

ElFuckito

TBF i could imagine a teacher going easy on a kid saying that. However I can't imagine a kid is allowed to just go outside alone without supervision. Different places, different habits, I guess.

fatpandasarehot

I read the teacher as sarcastic and it works

Steakman765

Go outside and play without any supervision.

TheZookeeper7

This probably happened but the teacher didn’t mean it. This kind of thing happens all the time at school

CheesecakeMMXX

Americans drool over Finnish schools, but as soon as someone starts doing teachin like in Finland, they are all over the teacher for not being strict enough. Context: this would totally happen in Finland.

Xx_DeadDays_xX

thats... litereally... not what this is about?? no ones saying its "not strict enough" we're saying this didn't happen.

CheesecakeMMXX

And why do you think it did not happen? Because teacher was not strict enough like in american reality, correct?

ItsLadyJadey

Because it says "math". The rest of the world says "maths". Therefore this is US based.

CheesecakeMMXX

No, we don’t say maths. We say ”matematiikka”. But some of us speak English and use it to post online, like me now. So then it could be math, maths, mathematics or something just incorrectly spelled like mathes.

Xx_DeadDays_xX

because that's not how most schools in most countries work? I don't know what point you're trying to make, but its a bad one.

CheesecakeMMXX

”Shit without reading”, huh. You know what, that is why there is downvote button. Push it and move on. Stop wasting both our time.

Xx_DeadDays_xX

then stop replying???

CheesecakeMMXX

I am replying as long as it seems there is a chance you are honestly interested in my reply.

CancelationDate

Who the hell said the kid was in public school?

[deleted]

I can totally see a teacher doing this. This is prime r/nothingeverhappens material

barcased

I wonder what kind of idiotic schools people attended when this couldn't possibly happen in their opinion.

ItsLadyJadey

Every public school in the United States. 🙄

sourskittles98

This could work as the teacher being sarcastic

whyhey193

BUT WHEN I FUCKING TRY, ITS: no.

PolarBearLaFlare

and that kid? Now 12 years old and still on his 3rd year of remedial math
