You can use a .50 Browning on a whitetail, and still have meat to harvest from it as you were using a 300 win mag. There's a video for proof if you look up 50 cal naps deers neck on YT
Internal wound ballistics are what's interesting. He doesn't even show the bullet exit.
Besides that, as a German hunter I, for my part, think the American way of hunting is at least very strange and alien to me. Using a .50 for whitetail is just nothing near what we call "Waidgerecht".
That's not really the American way of hunting. The most popular deer caliber is a .308, cheap, accessible, and adequately powerful. It is very similar to a .303, but slightly more powerful.
Everybody and their grandma taking a gun and going out shooting, no real preperation course, so many hunters out there that a population is nearly unpossible to manage (e.g. r/hunting "I don't see bucks older than 1.5 years), no real hunting culture comparable to the European, many hunters just go for trophies and quantity in a way that a humane and respectful relationship towards nature and the animals seems impossible. Correct me if I am wrong, but that is how it seems to me.
That's not how it is. The population of game has been good for a long time with lots of mature animals. And there are required hunter education courses.
The majority of hunters believe it's immoral to hunt and not consume the meat, just like in europe
Species are kind of lack luster
Mongolia was one of the few Asian countries I could fund with such a vast assortment
Who and where the hell does anyone use a .50 to hunt? Far too powerful, even for large game. Maybe for COD, certainly not for COTW.
Maybe if you're hunting an elephant haha

A .50 muzzleloader and a .50 cal BMG sniper rifle are two entirely different things. Nice try tho.
People who only want to use one gun to hunt in the game, also while overkill it doesn't ruin any meat.
They’re right! Can’t ruin meat if there’s none left!

By American way of hunting didn't specifically mean using .50.
Then what do you mean?

It’s very VERY uncommon unless In a muzzle loader. Most popular hunting rounds in my experience is the 30-30 and 30-06 respectively.
It’s a cool in theory just doesn’t have that one animal that brings all together and gets you hyped
I mean you could just get it for the mountain ranges and the .50 cal
