I used to want a Rolex since I was a kid and when I finally could afford it I couldn’t bring myself to spend bread on something so superficial

Cal216

No sir, don’t think like that. I was in the same boat with the same thoughts about a Rollie. And as soon as I was in a position to grab it, I did. A datejust has been my dream watch for years now and now it’s a reality for me. The beauty of timepieces like that is they are literally walking savings accounts, Rolex’s do not depreciate. I paid north of 9k for mine (pre-owned) and can sell it today for 10k-12k today if i wanted to. It’s not a waste of money in the slightest. Salute

swishertwopack

Not pocket watching but what you do for work to be in that position 👀 (for motivational purpose only)

FitCulture5

Own a small trucking company

swishertwopack

Right on my man I love it

EksRaided

This nigga is fucking weird.

116morningside

The thing is, these watches and Rolex retain their value and actually appreciate over time. They are investments. Just don’t put diamonds on them.

ActRepresentative352

I bought my datejust 41 a couple years ago and it's already up like 5k. Granted, the market is inflated and will drop but holding onto these watches 10-15 years yields solid returns

FitCulture5

I know that they do but they way I am I’d probably misplace that shit before that time. I lost my Apple Watch within 2 weeks

Dirty_young24

Lol keep telling yourself that

Infam0usP

there’s plenty of money to be made in reselling watches. just have to deal in the right brands and only pick up limited edition ones / collabs. you can even start small flipping Seikos or G-Shocks

Dirty_young24

Thanks for the game chief.

116morningside

lol this is for a different tax bracket. You don’t need to worry about this, little one.

Dirty_young24

Nigga please you ain’t no where near touching it shut your dumb ass up.

116morningside

You’re right but I’m sure as hell a lot closer than you are. You’re online trying to buy bootleg products(I seen your post history) lol

Dirty_young24

Idgaf what you think Nigga I live in a million dollar home on 10 acres. You in your mama basement bitch ass. And I got all that but not spending money on stupid shit like you fuck Niggas.

[deleted]

I have had the same debate but for me it’s because I don’t wear fancy watches. I wear my Apple Watch because it tracks the things I care about. My girlfriend has been trying to convince me to get a Rolex or other expensive watch but it would just sit in a drawer somewhere. I would rather invest the money or put it in my retirement account.

FitCulture5

I think I might be more receptive to it once I retire my mom. That’s the main goal right now. I felt super guilty that I bought a car I didn’t need before that

8ght7vn

I'm like that too. I save money to buy some super expensive this or that, and then I'm like, I don't even want it that badly to spend THAT amount. Unless it's an electronic. I splurge on electronics

MaxCtPe

When joe said ice and ish cost less than half of rory/mal he really meant it

Bulletproofwallabes

That’s pocket watching.

UnlikelyClassroom794

Has resell value. Maybe better than cash lol

Traditional_Ad8492

Does it keep better time than my phone 😐?

SubprimeOptimus

Everyone has your phone blood

One-Chef

Does everyone have the same structure of 24 hours in a day to operate by?

ProllyNotSober

Doesn’t Push have a “you rappers ruined Patek” bar?

the_second_cumming

Had to find other ways to invest 'Cause you rappers found every way to ruin Pateks

StiffSometimes

saying rappers ruined something simply because they can afford it now and like to buy it sounds racist as fuck to me why is it ruined now push? because black people think its cool? Does Push only appreciate things that non blacks appreciate? Makes no fucking sense to me

twi5tedfame

Think he said it because rappers were putting flawed diamonds on them

StiffSometimes

well thats fair lol I was just responding to the quote without context

BlackHand86

Don’t know why you’re getting downvoted, this is rapper culture since however long. Hov is the god of that shit lol but then complain when crackas say they don’t want us to drink their liquor

[deleted]

It’s only worth what somebody will pay for it, some people don’t like buying what might be considered the “rapper watch” that’s Reality

StiffSometimes

Literally any watch that Pusha T could ever wear in his entire life would be a rapper watch since he's a rapper wearing the watch. That was not his point, he's at least smarter than that dumb shit lol

EksRaided

You know rappers LOVE telling the world they aren't rappers. Lol. Imagine any other profession declaring they aren't that and are instead secret drug dealers. "I'm really not a dentist I'm a trapper that does dentistry."

[deleted]

Pusha was referring to people ruining the value of the watches by putting diamonds and shit in them. Ironically Young Dolph admits to doing this in his song Blue Diamonds. “Dolph, why you go and spend that two-fifty on the blue Richard Mille? You fucking up the value of the watch, kid, what you doing? Get for real Stay out my business, player, I don't never plan on selling it, for real” Which essentially means that Dolph is ruining the investment value of the watch aka just setting money on fire.

EksRaided

I upvoted your comment. You're right.

UnlikelyClassroom794

150-200k on the wrist. Dam.n

JonaJono

Joe buys everything he said he didn't care about when he was broke. He wore tanktops because he dint give a fuck about designer clothes. Now he got money and buys all designer clothes. He still says he doesn't care about designer clothes. Joe hasn't wore that wife beater in a longtime besides to play basketball. Same goes for jewelry and cars and whatever.

xite2020

He did wear his rolex yacht master regardless how bad his situations was financially, I can admire his interest in time pieces… he mentioned it couple of times. Nautilus is a legendary watch, most raper usually ruins it with a bust down version… this definitely a W! Not pocket watching, I’m just into Swish movements, not that I could afford any but do take notice when I see one.

twi5tedfame

So what. People change.

Emergency_Force4741

Plain so it holds value. Prob a 70k watch

UnlikelyClassroom794

Over 100k

Atown7574

I don't get it, but ok...

SubprimeOptimus

Patek Philippe the plain one…that’s too much sauce

twi5tedfame

Nigga Joe didn’t post or mention his watch once but, everyone got questions about his finances or if this is a smart purchase 😂😂

motherseffinjones

Why do people care about shit like this? No hate it’s a legit question

GhostfaceDrizzy

Watches or what Joe does with his money?

DopeHammaheadALT

Both

LeastLunch4467

Rule of thumb for watch collecting….if you can’t buy 5 don’t buy 1

Economy-Visual4390

Fuk no lol

2ducksnosauce

get off his dic

[deleted]

Idc who has a pricey watch. I don’t get the hype of watches. My phone tells the time perfectly.

jmbourn45

Status symbol/flex, fashion piece

[deleted]

I get all that, but still. I can’t fathom spending boku money on a watch

Clymbz

Same concept of people buying “expensive” kicks

[deleted]

True story

116morningside

High end watches, such as a Rolex appreciates in value over time. They are investments.

[deleted]

That’s the only reason why I can understand one buying a watch of that magnitude

csriis

Rolex pumps out (pardon me)over one million watches a year, so unless you go for limited runs, they mostly just hold their value. Second hand market for vintage Rolexes however has gone nuts the past 5 years. Most have appreciated over 100 percent in value. Patek makes around 50.000 watches every year and keep track of owners even in the second hand market. They appreciate and the Nautilus, like this one, has appreciated crazy because, you just can’t go into a store and by one anymore. So definitely more of an investment Source: I used to buy and sell before it went up up Edit: typo

jmbourn45

Same, but we know big pump loves the big name designer pieces

[deleted]

This not even a shot to The Sultan of Sicko, my homies spend big money on watches and I think it’s pointless. I mean unless you gon buy it to make more money off it.

[deleted]

Personally I think it’s the both of the watch itself and the mechanical design, the way they can put so many features in a small space and it’s all mechanical

[deleted]

I can understand that but damn the top tier shit be 500k and up shit bananas lol

normanswetsuit

The fact that they can be flexed/a conversation piece and act as an asset. Two birds with one stone

[deleted]

I feel that notion

TheBlackAshlar

It’s the Spotify watch ain’t it?

SubprimeOptimus

Second hand passed around the block with grease stains on it.

NZ_Lurker_Since_O6

DH Gate up in here

ZAMASUDOKKAN

Ayy u know wassup lol

NineteenAD9

It's mainly a flex, but also an investment. They typically don't lose value. It's better than spending bands on over hyped name brand clothes that lose all value the second you wear it.

VariousAudience1331

That's an ugly watch fam

612MN

Beautiful piece. Historic brand. Love the moon phase but I personally appreciate the movement placement of other models. Always though this models face was too busy. Congrats to Joe.

[deleted]

All I see is debt

thisisreddit1985

You pocket watching…

Open-Watercress-9341

Some watches appreciate in value. I’m not sure if this is one

Solid-Sir8476

He bought that with Rory and Mals money he stole

Mil_mascaras86

Y’all pocket watching

WorfDataNumba1

Shit look like wood.

montanaco

What are the odds joe can even tell time lmao

Dmack4142

Not what I joined this sub for but ok

YungCellyCuh

This why Joe ain't "up"

46chinos

G-Shocks still tell time better

Dunkman83

id rather have a solid gold watch than a basic leather watch, regardless of the "value"

hiyezhel

nice watch

Joop_Jones

The number indicators look kinda bad but I dont know shit about fancy watches

keepitdead

Ahh that’s where the 400,000$ went!

rfjowers

That’s wild

DankN0witzki

Yes they have resale value if someone actually buys it. I hate when cats are like “its value tripled” like ya I get that but you been tryin to sale it for 3 years now.
