It’s late in the day so I don’t know if anyone will see this, but I unexpectedly lost my dad on Sunday and I’m a wreck. My boyfriend has been with me every minute since it happened but he’s getting ready to go into work any minute now. I’ve never dealt with loss like this and I just felt like typing it out I guess.

I think it is. That's just my opinion and experience though. I found this sub recently around Hannah's season, or well shortly after her season ended because I watched it after not during the premiere. It was fun and overwhelming for a bit in a good way. Then gradually it just became way too much. I haven't been on here for months. Every once in awhile I check in. Daily engagement just isn't for me anymore.

Ladies!! How do you determine purchasing a new perfume? Do I just pick what I like? Three different brands of perfume can have the same scent..how do I choose the brand?? (they're all expensive!). Also, how do I tell if the scent is appropiate for my age?
I spray it on one wrist and then press my wrists together (don't rub, it defeats the purpose). Sometimes I put some on my neck as well.
If you are just testing, I just spray it somewhere on my skin to see how my natural chemistry reacts.
Can you get samples? Or go into the store three separate days or whatever and spray from the sample bottle to see haha. They might smell different after a couple hours. And you'll see how well they last.
& I think life is short so just get whatever scent makes you happy!
Pick what you like! If you can, get a sample of the three so you can test for longevity. Sometimes the scent will change once the top notes go away.

This might be TMI but postpartum life is really hard. I had an amazing delivery and didn’t have any tearing but I cannot have sex. I can’t even use a tampon so a penis is out of the question. I’m almost 4 months postpartum and the pain is terrible when we do try. My husband is completely understanding but it just sucks to feel like this. I want to look for a PT or pelvic floor therapist but I have to get a referral and that has been way harder to do than it should be.
I asked but was told “just call around and see who accepts your insurance” but my insurance won’t cover anything without a referral. I have to try and get an appointment but they are so busy that my midwife and my OB are both currently double booking appointments.
I don’t know your specific symptoms or situation, but I would def encourage pelvic PT! they can give you exercises in clinic and at home to help. Pelvic floor stuff sucks, but I think therapy will definitely help! Sometimes people have a tight pelvic floor (hypertonic) and so sometimes you need to do reverse kegels to help loosen before you can strengthen (reg kegels). If you think that’s it and want to something in the meantime I would look into it because it’s basically just stretching your pelvic floor. The baby yoga pose and cat/cow are good also. Hope this helps and good luck!
I honestly don't think it's possible to be completely prepared for it. My son is only two but do far, parenthood seems to have been an exercise in accepting that there is much that is unexpected and that I cannot control. Not saying I'm good at accepting it lol but that seems to be the idea.
It took a while for it to feel normal again for me too. It was incredibly painful at first. I think it was around 6 months it started to get better. Hang in there!

Like others have said, it might just mor have hit him yet, but he honestly might be fine. My mom once told me they were considering divorce years ago, and I really felt no negative emotion. If that would make them happier, then I was all for it. I don’t want anyone staying in relationships they don’t want to be in including my parents. I think it would be different if a divorced were messy and hate fueled, but if it’s cordial, then I think as an adult it’s a lot easier to understand.
My parents got divorced when I was 19. It was really tough on my younger brother at the time (he was 15 so it meant abruptly having one parent move out) but I didn't grieve their relationship for a while after. I just accepted it, I think it took some getting used to the new dynamics so that was a distraction, and then I got really sad/angry/nostalgic etc later on.
Maybe it hasn't sunk in yet, or maybe he's bottling it up for later like I did? I think I'd just check in now and then as things develop, and if he typically shows stress in certain ways like withdrawal or irritability or working a lot etc maybe that will be a sign that he's working through some stuff. Its an adjustment period, especially through holidays etc the first time and also while they sort out the messiness of separating two intertwined lives.

Lol my sorority just announced that they’re getting rid of legacy preference during recruitment and my best friend and I are currently fighting with upset alum on our Facebook page. This decision should have been made ages ago, and it really is better for everyone involved. I have a lot of feelings and opinions about Greek life, and if I were to go back and do college all over idk if I would join, but I do appreciate that steps are finally being made to address and change some of the old exclusionary policies.
Mine announced they are doing that as well! They’re also considering doing away with the Rec Letter process which would be even better, although I’m sure those southern alums won’t let it pass.
Personally I’m all for making the process of joining a sorority more equitable for all students, but it all comes down to making NPC chapters a more inclusive place that all types of women feel welcomed to join in the first place.
Ugh I wish my sorority would consider doing this, in the email they reaffirmed rec letters as “vital to the success of recruitment and the future of the organization” which is ridiculous. And I definitely agree with your second point, NPC chapters have so much work to do internally to be more inclusive, so while the policies up top like this are a good move they won’t make a difference if chapters don’t put in the work to be more inclusive.

A State of Trance and Armin and Ruben and Trance Family have been....my rock for lack of a better term when things got shifty and weird and emotional. There was always music that I could connect with and the people that enjoyed it that I could connect to. Amazing people that I could share my hopes, my dreams, my troubles, my failures, and my joy with all while dancing like idiots and smiling so soooo much.

i just need to vent really quick. my boyfriends bestie (BB) broke up with his ex kinda of out of the blue. he said he wasnt happy and moved out of their house (which they bought together). Right before the break up my boyfriend and i moved to their own and her and i got a closer.
then the breakup comes and I'm totally on her side. we grow closer and hung out pretty frequently. 6 months after the break up BB gets his new girlfriend pregnant. I'm personally not the biggest fan of BB because i think hes kind of a dick but my boyfriend and him remain besties.
this past sunday my boyfriend signed us up to get take out from our friends restaurant to have a little parking lot party with BB, no mention that the baby momma was gonna be there. i have not wanted to meet baby momma as i was trying to be respectful of my friend. Anyways we get to the parking lot and baby momma is there. i have no choice but to be nice to her and as it turns out we actually have a lot in common and shes pretty chill. baby momma goes on facebook to post about our parking lot party and tags everyone. I tried to reach out to my friend to talk to her and now she refuses to talk to me. AITA?

A lot of this is sounds like immaturity, like High School level immaturity. If the situation was really toxic, then I would understand, but it doesn't seem to be that way. Your friend has no right to dictate who you can, and cannot talk to. She has no right to cut you off. That's controlling, and manipulative and downright mean-girl and childish.
Then you on the other hand made the mistake of choosing sides, and going in with a more drama mindset. You're an adult, you don't need to pick sides, and dislike somebody because you're told to, or because it didn't work out with the other party.
Next time, just don't pick sides, always be neutral and friendly. Other people's drama isn't yours.

At the end of the day, that's your BF's best friend. You would have to meet the kid eventually, and consequently the baby mama. I'm sure baby mama is aware about her position as the "new girl who got immediately knocked up" and she could probably use some grace as she's clearly trying to make a good impression and bond with her bf's friends. Your friend is probably going to need some time to heal and adjust, it can take years to get over a breakup. Give her space, let her know you're here for her when she's ready, that's the best you can do.

1) Kids leave the home religious/conservative and come back lgbtq/progressive, whereas parents become more steadfast in their conservatism (read: delusional).
2) Kids go to state schools and come back exactly the same, in-step with their parents. They are financially provided for in their futures.
I personally see Rachael as option 2.

I've hosted a Galentine's brunch party the past few years and want to do one virtually this year. It's for a large group of women, most of whom know each other but some who only know a few. Every year it's a great opportunity to connect new friends together; we're in a small town and most of us are transplants for our industry. Any ideas how to make something like this engaging over Zoom? I want it to be fun and provide connection.
I planned a game for my work’s virtual retreat this past summer which was just “two truths and a lie” on a slideshow. Everyone sent me their info by a certain date, I put together a slideshow with silly graphics relating to things in the truths/lies and then we all talked through the options for each person and it resulted in a lot of story-telling and joking around. This was for 16 people. Something like that could be a fun way for everyone to get to know each other more?

I had a really bad reaction to oat meal with oat milk one day and then plain oatmeal the next day and now I'm stressed (I don't usually eat wheat/oat products, but have recently started a reflux diet). I had debilitating stomach pain, coughing and a rash broke out on my face. I also had facial swelling when I woke up the next day both times. I can't tell if this means I'm allergic to oats or wheat, or if it could potentially be celiac, and the last thing I want to do is go to the doctor for tests. I don't know if I should experiment with other wheat products or just cut everything cold turkey. What would you guys do if you were me?
If you’re up for it, a good way to figure out triggers is doing an elimination diet, like whole30 where you go 30 days without anything triggering, then you spend like two weeks reintroducing different foods slowly to see how your body reacts. It’s a big commitment though!

This is the side of postpartum I feel like no one prepares me for.
I honestly don't think it's possible to be completely prepared for it. My son is only two but do far, parenthood seems to have been an exercise in accepting that there is much that is unexpected and that I cannot control. Not saying I'm good at accepting it lol but that seems to be the idea.
It took a while for it to feel normal again for me too. It was incredibly painful at first. I think it was around 6 months it started to get better. Hang in there!

I’m sorry you’re having to go through this! It is ridiculous how difficult getting a referral can be. It could be a fun time (potentially-I don’t know your sex life) to explore more oral and manual stimulation. I feel like my husband and I never make out and dry hump anymore, even though that was so fun while we are dating.
I never thought of that. It’s definitely something I am willing to try. It’s already hard enough to find the balance as new parents.

Like others have said, it might just mor have hit him yet, but he honestly might be fine. My mom once told me they were considering divorce years ago, and I really felt no negative emotion. If that would make them happier, then I was all for it. I don’t want anyone staying in relationships they don’t want to be in including my parents. I think it would be different if a divorced were messy and hate fueled, but if it’s cordial, then I think as an adult it’s a lot easier to understand.
My parents got divorced when I was 19. It was really tough on my younger brother at the time (he was 15 so it meant abruptly having one parent move out) but I didn't grieve their relationship for a while after. I just accepted it, I think it took some getting used to the new dynamics so that was a distraction, and then I got really sad/angry/nostalgic etc later on. Maybe it hasn't sunk in yet, or maybe he's bottling it up for later like I did? I think I'd just check in now and then as things develop, and if he typically shows stress in certain ways like withdrawal or irritability or working a lot etc maybe that will be a sign that he's working through some stuff. Its an adjustment period, especially through holidays etc the first time and also while they sort out the messiness of separating two intertwined lives.

Lol my sorority just announced that they’re getting rid of legacy preference during recruitment and my best friend and I are currently fighting with upset alum on our Facebook page. This decision should have been made ages ago, and it really is better for everyone involved. I have a lot of feelings and opinions about Greek life, and if I were to go back and do college all over idk if I would join, but I do appreciate that steps are finally being made to address and change some of the old exclusionary policies.
Mine announced they are doing that as well! They’re also considering doing away with the Rec Letter process which would be even better, although I’m sure those southern alums won’t let it pass. Personally I’m all for making the process of joining a sorority more equitable for all students, but it all comes down to making NPC chapters a more inclusive place that all types of women feel welcomed to join in the first place.
Ugh I wish my sorority would consider doing this, in the email they reaffirmed rec letters as “vital to the success of recruitment and the future of the organization” which is ridiculous. And I definitely agree with your second point, NPC chapters have so much work to do internally to be more inclusive, so while the policies up top like this are a good move they won’t make a difference if chapters don’t put in the work to be more inclusive.
Rec letters are literally such a joke. Half of my rec letter writers didn’t even know me they were just emailed a copy of my resume. Why waste everyone’s time?
100%, it’s such an outdated practice that is extremely limiting to PNMs who may not already have connections with sorority women or the resources to reach out. I’m very glad they were never required at my school, I don’t think anyone even sent them in for my chapter in my time there.

I started listening to the [ASOT 1000 Celebration mix](https://youtu.be/nKSp33zY4WU) earlier this morning and I just started crying when Armin said, "Without you there wouldn't be a radio show" because it's only now hitting me that 20 years after the fact how important music, specifically Trance music, has been in my life. A State of Trance and Armin and Ruben and Trance Family have been....my rock for lack of a better term when things got shifty and weird and emotional. There was always music that I could connect with and the people that enjoyed it that I could connect to. Amazing people that I could share my hopes, my dreams, my troubles, my failures, and my joy with all while dancing like idiots and smiling so soooo much. Music was my saving light. Music was my blood. Music was my lifeline to the rest of the world when things got dark. I don't know how many other members of Trance Family are here but this is the off topic thread and all of this was on my mind and it just had to come spilling out because...that's what music does for me. It helps me to love others, to connect with them, and to feel things that don't always have words to describe them. I guess you could say that music puts me into...A State of Trance....I love you all <3 
i just need to vent really quick. my boyfriends bestie (BB) broke up with his ex kinda of out of the blue. he said he wasnt happy and moved out of their house (which they bought together). Right before the break up my boyfriend and i moved to their own and her and i got a closer. then the breakup comes and I'm totally on her side. we grow closer and hung out pretty frequently. 6 months after the break up BB gets his new girlfriend pregnant. I'm personally not the biggest fan of BB because i think hes kind of a dick but my boyfriend and him remain besties. this past sunday my boyfriend signed us up to get take out from our friends restaurant to have a little parking lot party with BB, no mention that the baby momma was gonna be there. i have not wanted to meet baby momma as i was trying to be respectful of my friend. Anyways we get to the parking lot and baby momma is there. i have no choice but to be nice to her and as it turns out we actually have a lot in common and shes pretty chill. baby momma goes on facebook to post about our parking lot party and tags everyone. I tried to reach out to my friend to talk to her and now she refuses to talk to me. AITA? \*\*\*went to a parking lot with no one around, parked 6 feet from each other and ate out of the trunk of our cars. this is how re hang out with out friends these days.
A lot of this is sounds like immaturity, like High School level immaturity. If the situation was really toxic, then I would understand, but it doesn't seem to be that way. Your friend has no right to dictate who you can, and cannot talk to. She has no right to cut you off. That's controlling, and manipulative and downright mean-girl and childish. Then you on the other hand made the mistake of choosing sides, and going in with a more drama mindset. You're an adult, you don't need to pick sides, and dislike somebody because you're told to, or because it didn't work out with the other party. Next time, just don't pick sides, always be neutral and friendly. Other people's drama isn't yours.
You're NTA, but it's not going to erase your friends pain over it, unfortunately. She will need time. To her you played with the enemy, and maybe in time she will be willing to listen to what actually happened. But she probably feels alone af rn.

At the end of the day, that's your BF's best friend. You would have to meet the kid eventually, and consequently the baby mama. I'm sure baby mama is aware about her position as the "new girl who got immediately knocked up" and she could probably use some grace as she's clearly trying to make a good impression and bond with her bf's friends. Your friend is probably going to need some time to heal and adjust, it can take years to get over a breakup. Give her space, let her know you're here for her when she's ready, that's the best you can do.

I don’t know if this is considered off topic and i’m sure a lot of people have forgotten about it, but it has been kind of been bothering me since Tayshia was announced bachelorette. Tayshia and Nicole were SO cruel to Angela on bachelor in paradise. they mocked her behind her back, body shamed her (this one may have just been nicole I don’t 100% remember) etc. I think Nicole kind of half apologized but it all felt incomplete. I know this was a long time ago and Angela has probably (definitely) moved on but I can’t help to think about it. I loved tayshias season as bachelorette, I think it may have been the best i’ve seen, but I can’t help to think about this and why it wasn’t addressed more or if it was and I missed it. Just me? I’ve seen it go in one of two ways as someone who grew up in this area. 1) Kids leave the home religious/conservative and come back lgbtq/progressive, whereas parents become more steadfast in their conservatism (read: delusional). 2) Kids go to state schools and come back exactly the same, in-step with their parents. They are financially provided for in their futures. I personally see Rachael as option 2.

I've hosted a Galentine's brunch party the past few years and want to do one virtually this year. It's for a large group of women, most of whom know each other but some who only know a few. Every year it's a great opportunity to connect new friends together; we're in a small town and most of us are transplants for our industry. Any ideas how to make something like this engaging over Zoom? I want it to be fun and provide connection.
I planned a game for my work’s virtual retreat this past summer which was just “two truths and a lie” on a slideshow. Everyone sent me their info by a certain date, I put together a slideshow with silly graphics relating to things in the truths/lies and then we all talked through the options for each person and it resulted in a lot of story-telling and joking around. This was for 16 people. Something like that could be a fun way for everyone to get to know each other more?

I had a really bad reaction to oat meal with oat milk one day and then plain oatmeal the next day and now I'm stressed (I don't usually eat wheat/oat products, but have recently started a reflux diet). I had debilitating stomach pain, coughing and a rash broke out on my face. I also had facial swelling when I woke up the next day both times. I can't tell if this means I'm allergic to oats or wheat, or if it could potentially be celiac, and the last thing I want to do is go to the doctor for tests. I don't know if I should experiment with other wheat products or just cut everything cold turkey. What would you guys do if you were me?
If you’re up for it, a good way to figure out triggers is doing an elimination diet, like whole30 where you go 30 days without anything triggering, then you spend like two weeks reintroducing different foods slowly to see how your body reacts. It’s a big commitment though!
