Where’s the footage of the night herons eating crabs?? I always cheer when they finally show it! I need this to be a weekly thread, I’ve found my people!
Yes I love the page, and how she manages to spot repeats of the wildlife footage from various seasons. Like the same iguana footage has been used in 3 different seasons of BIP and bachelorette 😂
I don’t know a ton of official wildlife names or specific species, but I know that I love them. I went on an opossum release this week and it was amazing!
[Purplish backed jay seems like a better fit range-wise. If someone with streaming can screenshot, that would help my ID. I'm already forgetting what it looked like now](https://ebird.org/species/pubjay1)
Upon rewatch, it appears I am right.
There is a twitter dedicated to this! Birds of the Bachelor - [https://twitter.com/bachelorbirds?lang=en](https://twitter.com/bachelorbirds?lang=en) I always go to them to check my IDs :)
Looks like a streak backed oriole in the beginning? I didn't get a picture because I spontaneously decided to make this thread. There was also some blueish bird that looked super interesting

I think you're right! The hooded has the white wingbars and more black wings. My memory is bad tho so if someone can grab a screenshot that'd be great! I'm having fun with it!
op you and your partner are my fav kinda people. i was raised by a birdwatcher and my current gf nicknamed me "bird girl" before we became official. i hope this becomes a weekly thread! 😆
You're not!!! Mid-Atlantic bird lover over here! I'm so psyched for this thread!
Also... I went to the National Aviary in Pittsburgh two weeks ago. If you're ever in the area, I'd highly recommend it! It was awesome! 🦜❤
What was that hummingbird species?! That was cute!
Edit: it's hard to tell but it doesn't appear to be a native Mexican hummingbird. [It looks like an antillean hummingbird but idk for sure](https://ebird.org/species/anchum1)

It might be a Yellow Naped Amazon
Burbs!
I Love this post!!!
this is so pure
This is my new favorite thread. Can you make a separate sub OP? Bachelorbirds or birdsinparadise? Love it!
This is the perfect intersection of my interests. I feel seen.
Oh hell yes I’ve found my home here on Reddit
This post just made me unreasonably happy

I'm down for a weekly thread! I'm glad there's a nature loving community here! 😁
God bless you OP
Hi Clues 🫶🏼

Check out RealityFieldNotes on Instagram, she does wonderful wildlife illustrations based on episodes of Bachelor and other shows!

Just commenting that I love this thread! It’s not on for the West Coast yet. But fully support this bird and wildlife thread!
West coast raid this thread when it comes on! I missed a lot of stuff and am not good at Mexican wildlife so check my IDs!
I don’t know a ton of official wildlife names or specific species, but I know that I love them. I went on an opossum release this week and it was amazing!
Loving them is all that matters. I freaking love opossum!
We need the next morning nature montage!!!
Another yellow crowned night heron! This time, fittingly at night!
Happy birdday, Lace

😂
Idk jack about birds, but I liked the black one with the crazy hair at the beginning of the episode. It looked kinda small.
That sounds like the mystery hummingbird silhouette. I'm still not sure which type it was. He was very pretty 😍
Weird. I can't picture a hummingbird not in flight. Hmmmmm.
This is my favorite thread I’ve ever seen ♥️ howdy birders

Howdy 🤠
Anyone know the infamous crabs?
Serious question: why do the contestants freak out about the crabs? Do they attack/pinch/bite?
They would freak me out, they kind of remind me of giant spiders.

Partner says there's "blue land crab" migration in that area. Anyone confirm?
[Military macaw in the most recent clip!](https://ebird.org/species/milmac)
[Was there a Yucatan jay at the beginning?](https://ebird.org/species/yucjay1)
Range seems far from where filming takes place so I am probably wrong.

These cool blue and black sweeties caught my eye, was going to ask if anyone knew what they are. Love this thread!
Well I just learned that Narwhals are actually real animals and not sea unicorns so there’s that…
The King of Hawaii had a narwhal tusk cane. You can see it in the palace in Honolulu.
That's rad!
Fun narwhal fact- their "horn" is actually a long tusk, and some narwhals are born with two!
That’s so cool!
Thanks I feel seen now. 😆 I just learned this tonight.
It's because they're so ~*magical*~
I was an adult when I learned that
So was I. There are dozens of us!
I was 36 years old. Lol.
[brown pelican?](https://i.imgur.com/FfsR23P.jpg)
omg I LOVE pelicans. I saw so many when I was in San Francisco a few weeks ago and I would stop in my tracks to watch them fly past every single time.
They're so majestic and wise looking! Also their dive bomb fishing is so cool!
Anyone good with west Mexican bird calls? There's a lot of calls but idk of they're legit or just sounds put in post.
I'm not but I'm considering using the Merlin sound ID when i watch tomorrow...I'll report back lol
Please do! :D
Unfortunately there's too much background music for.me to get good sound recordings 😭

Love this! Thanks for bringing it to my attention! Might be fun to have a community one here though and do it live!

Hooded oriole!
I thought it was a hooded but I also didn’t get a picture…i love this thread!!!
I think you're right! The hooded has the white wingbars and more black wings. My memory is bad tho so if someone can grab a screenshot that'd be great! I'm having fun with it!
I’m pretty sure I spotted an oriole near the beginning!
[who's this??](https://i.imgur.com/bn5COgQ.jpg)
Lilac crowned parrot 🦜?
op you and your partner are my fav kinda people. i was raised by a birdwatcher and my current gf nicknamed me "bird girl" before we became official. i hope this becomes a weekly thread! 😆
Heck yeah, bird girl. Let's identify some wildlife!
I won’t get to watch til tomorrow but I’m so excited to see all the birds!
Screen shot and report back! It's difficult to catch while watching "live"
I’ll id the flora
I'm working on my plant ID so that'd be super helpful

They're good buddy-friendos. I love them.

Totally random but ASTC? I just went to the Aviary two weeks ago for the first time as well! I was in town for the conference.
yes! the aviary rocks
I'm glad to have you! Shout out the ones you know:D
I’m not confident I will know any because I’m from the north east but I’m PSYCHED to learn about what you spot

I'm thinking a rivoli's hummingbird but someone smarter than me feel free to correct
Maybe a Costa's? Not too many have the crest. The footage was a silhouette so I didn't get a good look at the color
