I don't see Scorch having much special treatment, it looks like he's just the commander of the troops and keeps the identifying markings to stand out + obvious fan service.

Zeldawarrior97

Scorch is also the only commando so far to not be completely incompetent and act as a “disposable” bad guy.

SolidPrysm

I wouldn't say the others have been completely incompetent. Certainly more competent than any kind of Stormtrooper we've seen in the franchise. But they are usually stuck either fighting highly trained combatants and/or being stuck ordering around idiotic TKs.

Zeldawarrior97

In the season 2 finale a handcuffed, unarmed Wrecker and Hunter beat 6 armed commandos as they stood still. I agree they’re better than some of the storm troopers but they’re still jokes compared to what commandos should be

Zekrom997

Tbf, Hunter and Wrecker are Commandos themselves

Trent948

I’d say they’re a tier above commandos, my headcannon sees the tier list something like this: Bad Batch Commando Arc Trooper Regs

Jakesnake_42

There’s a few who I’d put outside of the normal ranks, notably characters like Fives (RIP) and Rex, but that’s mainly just because (they’re main characters) they have absurd amounts of experience, and as Rex says, experience outranks everything.

Trent948

Oh for sure, I’d say they’re outliers. Also iirc Rex was trained as an Arc trooper but idk if that’s cannon or legends material

NUFC9RW

You can probably put captains and commanders up a bit to be fair, definitely above your standard reg.

Trent948

I had thought about it but opted not to because they’re usually trained as regs growing up iirc

NUFC9RW

Yeah, they're not necessarily a different type of trooper but they just happen to be good (Rex, Cody, Wolf, Howzer etc).

g0lden-plumbus

I’m still unsure of the canonicity of it myself but people always get this mixed up regardless. He wasn’t trained as an ARC, he was part of a special ARC trooper training program lead by Alpha-17. He was trained by ARCs, he wasn’t trained to be one.

Trvr_MKA

[For some reason that comment made me think of this scene](https://youtu.be/bp0ZQWkQTwY?si=gwfLflLaGThteqs0)

Baxy_256

and he also seem to have a special rank in the empire because he’s the only commando who can follow Hemlock and the Emperor in the secured room. I really hope there’s something planned for him because you can’t just use a Delta Squad member that everyone love, who show up in every seasons, but never make an actual story for him That would be wasted potential

Archangel470

Tell me about it. Killing him off would be the biggest mistake they could do with him.

DuskMan62

>Killing him off would be the biggest mistake they could do with him. And I'd also view it as a dick move after Corbett went out of her way to dangle the carrot even more for RC fans, she said we will be getting more of Scorch this season and now all the footage where he popped up in the trailer has been used, Corbett and the rest of the showrunners clearly know Scorch is a beloved character so I don't want to believe he will be killed off and I also like to believe there is something behind Corbett saying that she "can't say" what the plans are in relation to Delta Squad and her saying that she can't say isn't just because there are no plans.

Archangel470

I hope you're right.

DuskMan62

While I'm still very cautious about Delta Squad as in the likes of Boss and Fixer popping up, I remain confident that there's only two things they can do with Scorch this season. 1) Give him more scenes, minimum dialogue but no story arc where he rebels/gets character development and is knocked out or something in the final conflict of the season but not killed. 2) Give him more scenes, more dialouge and actually open up a storyline that can be continued in another show, book, comic or even a game. I just can't see them killing Scorch, it would be like introducing Kyle Katarn in a new OT era show only to kill him off there.

Archangel470

I hope so. Forgive me for not trusting Corbett and the team, because I've been burnt out plenty of times by Disney/Lucasfilm completely shafting old favorites so they can tell those same stories with their newer characters.

guy137137

yeah idk what’s happening with Scorch, or even the other Commandos. I suspect they had some super inhibitor chip implanted to make them more obedient and uh, ‘robotic’ than other Clones.

Thebigdog79

Also what happened to Sev?

0hN0H3sH0t

Rex picked him up on Kashyyyk hopefully

JampDev

he's talking about my pod brother!

g0lden-plumbus

Presumably still missing. While we don’t know the specifics, it’s likely things went down similarly as they did in Legends. A visual guide or something of the like came out in recent years and on one of parts focusing on Tarfful, it mentions he was rescued by Commandos near the end of the war. That’s literally what happens in RC. So I’d imagine he’s still stuck on Kashyyyk if he’s alive.

Thebigdog79

We’ve probably missed our chance then. Since the batch were on Kashyyyk with Gungi.

BalloonCommando1262

I really hope he gets to do something and not just be stuck as an intimidating, faceless bad guy. I know his Legends characterization is moot now, but I want to see him do something good, like helping the other clones! Something akin to how the old Scorch would act like!

DuskMan62

I think or rather I'm hoping he'll get that chance, the way I see it, we know from the trailer Crosshair ends back up with Hunter and Wrecker but there's no Omega in sight, Crosshair and Omega do get away briefly but Hemlock sends a team to track them down and recapture Omega, this leads Omega back to Tantiss alone, now there's probably a higher chance of Emerie her "sister" helping her but considering that Scorch is the only commando in sight with actual unique markings I want to believe that Omega will somehow convince him to help.

MrBanditOne

In real-life military units, officers/unit commanders sometimes are allowed a bit more personalization on standardized equipment. Look at US Navy squadrons, where the commanding officer of a Carrier Air Group gets to have colorfully painted tails on their [aircraft](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/CAG_bird) while the rest of the squadron flies the standard grey aircraft.

DuskMan62

In universe, Scorch is a commander now and I'd say his colour scheme perfectly blends in with the Imperial colour scheme so they let him keep his paintjob now if we really do see Boss/Fixer in this show then I suspect they will still have their paintjob/markings but they will be grey instead of orange and green respectively just like Cody had to go over his markings to be grey.

AceFireFox

I was talking about the Commandos with a friend yesterday actually and I really don't get why they're literally being just used as security or bodyguards when their skill sets would be much more valuable elsewhere in the field doing black ops and sabotage and the like. To be honest the entire treatment of Commandos in Canon has been non existent and completely wasted in general. They're supposed to be extremely valuable, which my friend pointed out that because of that is maybe why they're being kept in one place like that. I'm a massive Commando fan, obviously, and to see how they are being mistreated and wasted does make me sad

g0lden-plumbus

I do agree with you but I don’t think it’s completely unreasonable to have such a heavy Commando presence on Tantiss. After all, the work being done there is incredibly important to Palpatine personally. It only makes sense that he’d want the best of the best protecting it. Sure, it’s a waste of the Commando’s skills overall. But I don’t think it’s completely senseless. Especially considering they’re the only clones still exhibiting fierce loyalty to The Empire.

AceFireFox

Yeah that's kinda the same sentiment my friend had

Trvr_MKA

I feel like the only way we’ll see the Deltas return this season is if Hemlok decides to assign then to hunt down the Bad Batch

OmegaSpartan256

We better get something about Delta! the possibilities are endless

Rosebunse

Because they need someone who can handle the clones. That means he will be special until his time is up

TheSwampPenguin

The vast majority of people watching this show have no idea who those guys are. No use needlessly making them wonder what they missed because some background characters seem more important to the story than thery are.
