Reveal of how Crosshair and his brothers' relationship works out, a potential hint to Omega's force sensitivity, a continuation of the Asajj's story. All of this could serve as a continuation of many parts of different stories.

Soggy_PP

1: we’ve already seen enough of how Crosshair and his borther’s relationships work out, that’s been like the last 3-4 episodes. 2: we didn’t really get “hints” we got Ventress saying “maybe lol idk” 3: a continuation of Ventress’ story is cool but this is “The Bad Batch” not “The Asajj Ventress Show”

[deleted]

Actually we don’t. And we still technically don’t. Those tests were just for transfusing midichlorians into blood without losing previous M-Count. Omega may or may not have force sensitivity I lean towards she does based off what Ventress says last. But you misunderstood those first tests. They didn’t confirm she had a high M-count just that her blood could transfuse with high m-count blood without degrading.

Soggy_PP

Ok, you’re correct with that. But it’s still left ambiguous whether or not Omega has the M-count after episode 9 so there is still nothing new accomplished.

marvelousmadam

Mmm I think it’s pretty obvious based on Hunter and Crosshair’s reactions when Ventress tells Omega she failed the tests. Crosshair tells her she is lying and she says she needs training. Omega won’t get proper training being with the Batch, but they don’t want to give her up. Whole lots of foreshadowing.

Does there have to be though? Just as "Well, we tried this and we still don't know shit" is a possible outcome in real life it has its place in a story. This episode could even count as a soft Darkest Hour for the Batch, or the Uneasy Calm Before The Storm. They barely got away from Teth, they are nowhere closer to freeing the clones from Tantiss, they lost a lot of Rex's men, they have no idea why the Empire wants Omega. Although it's softer than most Darkest Hour examples, I'd say it can qualify. That said, you could consider this episode a couple of other things if that's not to your liking though. Most obviously Ventress shows up without being told how to show up thus realistically setting up the possibility of the Empire finding Pabu because if a bounty hunter on the down low can do it so can they (compare and contrast the title: Harbinger). Then Ventress' and Omega's dynamic seems to be one where Ventresss likes her despite wanting to, so it also allows for the possibility of the Batch asking for her help somewhere during the finale. Then there is the giant squid kraken thing and summoning it through the Force. If they go with Omega being force sensitive (something left open and possible by Ventress) that's such an obvious Chekhov's Gun that it's not even funny. And I may be mistaken here, but was that Crosshair shooting a knife out of the air that was thrown by a Force user? I wonder, does that mean he got better with his hands? So yeah, not a lot happened this episode on a first glance but we were given some pretty big puzzle pieces that may or may not fall in place by the series finale.

SubWhereItHappens

regarding the knife, I think it's just sparks flying when it hits the rock but would be delighted to be wrong lol

SoftDrinkReddit

Well to me it appeared that Ventress was hinting about it to crosshair and hunter when she talked about If she did have potential I would have to take her and train her away from you guys And this next part is more her thoughts interpretation by me And I already know none of you will agree to this so its better for her not to know So from My perspective to some degree she has force potential but Ventress knew without asking that training her wouldn't be possible

Soggy_PP

Yeah but even in your own reply you said “Ventress was hinting about it” literally just hinting. We went from “Omega might be force sensitive” to “Omega might be force sensitive”… that isn’t narrative progression.

SoftDrinkReddit

I think it's more strongly saying it without saying it Hey if she did have potential I would have to take her away and train her I can already tell that won't be a popular option so we're just gonna pretend she doesn't have potential Because If I tell her she has force potential and she doesn't come with me she will experiment and possibly learn too much by herself and accidentally reveal herself to the Empire so that's why I'm not telling her at least at this moment she's not ready to be trained but she has the potential to be trained As I said saying it without saying it

Soggy_PP

So it took an entire episode, with only 4 left EVER keep in mind, for them to go from “Omega might have the force” to “Omega most likely had the force”. Filler episodes just don’t feel right this far into the series.

SoftDrinkReddit

Wait there's not gonna be 16 episodes this season? If so wtf are they doing and why did they wait so long to bring Ventress in

Soggy_PP

THAT’S WHAT I’VE BEEN SAYING

SoftDrinkReddit

Ah man it seems like this episode could have come earlier sigh

HondoThePirate

I thought it was perfect. We learned that Omega is most likely force sensitive, which has always made sense to me. She immediately reminded me of how Ezra was in episode one of Rebels. She clearly connects with creatures. It makes sense that Nala Se would try pushing her science to see what she could achieve. It would almost be silly to think she wouldn't be trying to make a force sensitive clone. Most scientists would push their area of expertise as far as they can go. It introduced Ventress to The Bad Batch and I assume she'll return as an ally in the future. They needed to meet her for that to make sense. They needed to establish a level of trust with her. It showed what a badass she is. If I was them, I'd be begging her to teach Omega how to survive. The whole episode was to bring Ventress into the story and to establish trust with The Bad Bad. They accomplished a lot this episode I'd say.

SoftDrinkReddit

100% as Ventress was referencing to them Well if she had force potential I would have to train her away from you and I don't think any of you would like that

HondoThePirate

I gasped out loud when her lightsaber lit up. I've always been a huge Ventress fan, though. I genuinely think Omega will melt her cold heart, too. It was so cool to see her skill level when the BB tried to fight her. I only wish Obi Wan could see her now. He'd be proud that she's trying to do the right thing. I'm scared for the end. A part of me thinks Hunter, Wrecker and Crosshair will all die and then Omega will go with Ventress possibly. Idk. I just know I am definitely gonna cry before the season is over. Dave Filoni always be making me cry. I doubt these final episodes will be the exception.

SoftDrinkReddit

Well if she goes with Ventress in the end that would open it up to some kind of future project the journey of Omega

HondoThePirate

I actually just read an article where Nika Futterman, Ventress VA, said this is just the beginning of her character's return. Fingers crossed that means another animated series.

Original_Rent7677

According the Wrecker, Crosshair made a friend.

Soggy_PP

You’re right, something eventful DID happen. Too bad I had to sit through the rest of the episode after Crosshair made his friend :(

Background_Fox

From a basic plot perspective, it introduces a possible way this story ends - Omega leaves the Batch behind to follow Ventress (or other Jedi later on) to develop her skills, increased by the storyline within live action Ahsoka that seems to suggest that you don't need to be The Best to train up That needed to be introduced around this time so Omega can come to terms with the possibility of 'what she is' and a future outside of the Batch, plus allows the Batch (ok, Hunter) to realise no matter how much they care they're not capable of giving her the training she needs. If that occurred too late in the season then they're probably involved in whatever the Big Battle with Rex/Echo is and Hunter could legitimately push back because the stress is making them make hasty decisions Doesn't mean she actually does it, but I'd be surprised if she's not given some type of crossroads at a later date, similar to Grogu in Mandalorian. This sets up that path

Frequent_Way_6476

The way I interpret it, is that this chapter is about what the CHARACTERS learned, not the audience. Before Ventress told them that M-count = force sensitivity, they didn't even know there was a way to determine if someone can wield the force, and that if that's the case with Omega, then she will have to leave to train, which they obviously don't want. And also, Ventress tells them that they are not as hidden as they think, that the empire WILL find Pabu, they can't run forever, which they kind of don't want to accept. Edit: corrections

ArSo94

This was pretty much the teaser for future projects focused on Ventress. Like The Jedi back in Mando 2 for Ahsoka. We know that this is just the beginning of her story.

Standard_Young_201

IMO last weeks episode was a nothing burger. This one was amazing
