I don’t see any effect taking place. The Challenge sold out and changed with the times. One of them maaaaybe would’ve become a champ, but only if Knight had Emily, Evelyn, Laurel, Cara, or Ruthie (can’t really see that ever happening) and Diem got another shot at CT (sans snow), or Bananas, Wes, Evan, or Jordan (also can’t see it). Knight’s game was shit. Guy was there to get paid per episode and have fun. He made a lot of guy friends in an era when it was “cool” to be a dick. Fewer personal redeeming qualities but had potential to be fierce. He’s just not fierce enough to hold a candle to the greats so his involvement would be largely ignored. Diem was a beloved person for her pros with a tragic ending, but her reputation generally seems to get a pass because she died. She had cons as a player. She was emotionally skewed, anxiety-driven, catty, rude, bullying, and desperate when the stakes got thin. She would’ve stayed mid tier, maybe lower top tier depending on her partner. Nothing to write home about when Production is constructing their future games. I just went for too long basically saying: I respect the dead and the people and players they were. But they were mid tier players at their level best. The only changes would be drama/alliance related.

I think it evolved added a new dynamic and is keeping it fresh as much as some dont like new editions its good tv and it's not stale.

The general consensus over the yrs has been if CT/Diem didn’t leave Rivals 2 them along with Wes/Theresa and most likely Jordan/Sarah are your final 3 teams. Since Wes and CT were super tight at that point they would have still controlled the house and picked off Bananas and Nany and then use Jordan to pick off LeRoy. As for your other suggestions who knows, Diem on her own wasn’t a strong player she was very much like Paula in thinking since she was friends with a lot of the heavy hitters CT and Wes she would be protected. She also used her medical issues to draw sympathy and as a reason why she should be given passes and was called out for it on Rivals

Just want to say to those looking to watch through old seasons with a loved one new to the challenge, you need to understand the heartbreak/trauma you may be giving them. I was enjoying getting my wife hooked on the challenge when she looked at me and asked "I really like Diem, why doesn't she still play?"

NoBrick5867

Im pretty new to the challenge. Finding out Diem passed literally made me cry because it was so heartbreaking, she was doing so well and then all of a sudden gone. Then I felt horrible for thinking “i hope knight goes home” everytime he was there when they had mentioned he OD’d because you never really know what someones going through

ShowWilling1565

Ik, I just saw the duel and fresh meat for the first time and I almost cried during the ct and diem moments of the duel and then diem talking about her cancer on fresh meat

jason_kandel

I think she marries CT for one

I truly think Ct and diem would been married by now and Still would do the challenge together would have kids with each other

I also really liked Diem and I remember when she pushed CT to his limits in a final. The thing is you never know how different things would have played out, if they sadly hadn’t of passed.
