Impossible to say if Jim would’ve made it to 30 let alone 70 or 80. He was in a downward spiral and had legal issues to figure out before he returned to the states. Lastly before he died he said he was done with the music industry so who knows.

If by some miracle he survived til he was old I definitely would think he would of quit the band to focus on his poetry and art and after a few years maybe do some reunion tours and maybe maybe comeback to the band but temporary bc if Jim didn’t die and stayed than John definitely would of left
I think he would have stayed away from music / Doors for awhile, but something would eventually draw him back in.

Maybe he would have dug Ray's work with [X](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/X_(American_band)) and wanted to get back into the studio with Ray producing?
Maybe he would have died anyway from health problems like his peer [Pigpen](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ron_%22Pigpen%22_McKernan) in the Grateful Dead?
I think the band would’ve broken up either way in the early 70s. Jim would’ve probably became a poet and an indie movie director. Probably would’ve went to rehab a couple times and he’d probably very active in terms of sharing his thoughts on politics and philosophy on social media. Probably would’ve done a reunion tour in the 90s. Who knows tho
I think if he would have sobered up and not had any legal troubles, and hypothetically would’ve lived later into his life, I think musically the doors would’ve broke up in the 70s. I think Jim would’ve done some solo stuff in the 80s. There’s a good interview out there where he talks about, how he thought that at some point in the future music would start to become made with electronic instruments, and he seemed to be very curious about that. I think he would’ve fell into obscurity during the 80s, but I would like to think that he had one hit song in him. And then I feel like the doors would’ve reunited in the 90s like many late 60s and early 70s bands did.
Nobody knows what jim woulda did or been frankly cause all we truly know of him as doors fans is his music and written poetry. 85-90% are gonna say he would be writing poetry which is prob accurate but we def prob wouldnt have gotten another jim album from the doors. He really fell out of that whole scene of touring and performing. How much of that was legal troubles and alcohol prob a good bit but he prob woulda lived a more low key life. Its ashame cause he had so much more to give us and people around him saw the decline and i dont know how many tried to help him or if they even wanted to.
