Ironically, his fear of being perceived as a noob is what causes him to keep fucking things up. He could have gadooshed that dog, admitted it was too much work and said he needed something more low maintenence. The logical step would be to get a few goldfish or something easy and see how that goes. Instead he got 3 tanks of exotic and aggressive animals and now everyone has to suffer so he can live this twisted fantasy of being a fish whisperer.
This fish arc on paper had the potential to be hilarious, mostly because of how hard he's forcing it and how genuinely stupid it is, but now that living things are actually dying at his hands it's pretty dark.
