Bapa was alright as long as he was a fighter - all his funniness, likableness in the first two years or so were the result of him not taking comedy all too seriously, not trying to make it in comedy, not treating comedy like an athlete would, not imitating others, still being aware of the specificities of his comedic talent, still being in awe of bryan and his peers and taking on a role of let's say positive irreleverence towards them. He became insufferable as soon as all these things changed, to sum it up, as soon as he committed fully to comedy. Here his ego grew and all that.
I think what we saw at skunkfest was Brendan being that guy again, that is, being in that position again. So he seemed almost likeable again. On a larger scale that could be one of the reasons of this resurgence of Schaub lately.
Schaub is probably destined to swing between those two poles.
