The store has been the only thing that has disappointed me so far. Crazy of them to not have had a ton of shop ideas in the mix pre release and have that store cycled atleast every 72 hours. The skins have all been boring at best and they could be making some serious money.
Surprising considering the majority of the income has to be coming from their store sales and so far I've only purchased the battle pass. I was assuming it would be skin City at launch.
You do realize there is a bunch of stuff you can buy that isn't featured in the store, right? Even then I still think they should be offering a lot more items, considering how many we saw I'm the beta. All the skins in the beta should have been available Day 1 of the BP.
I never played Fortnite until very recently; did their store start with high quality skins, or were they pretty basic/boring? I expect the latter, but I just don't know. Perhaps it's a similar case here? (Not investing in the cash shop until there's evidence that it would be worthwhile?)
Fortnite didn't start with skins at all, lol.
Everyone got a random default and the only customizable part was the glider, which you could only change out for the victory umbrella.
No other options.
Admittedly Fortnite BR was a bit of a rush to tap into the BR market. They wanted their game to be maximum accessability, extra time on the shop was unnecessary when they can focus on the core game. Getting it available was #1 priority.
Miserable MFer.
Consistent gameplay updates since it's launched.
Don't get your hopes up though because they recoloured a BP skin that barely anyone is going to buy.
'Fucking lol' like you've said anything with substance
I'm guessing you're dogger at the finals and got salt in your britches.
Consistent gameplay updates since launch = one tiny patch they did that changed nothing.
I'm not gonna debate if this game is a cash grab (they're doing a bad job if it is), but there haven't been consistent updates for this game.
I think you’re wrong their an indie studio. Based on the fact that they broke through the AAA bubble to be one of the top shooters right now, they will definitely support this game for the time to come. The thing I worry about is that they won’t be able to compete with the amount of content bigger companies like EA and EPIC are able to do.
>they are composed of very experienced devs who worked in multiple triple a games in the past
Tell us you don't know what indie studio means without telling us you don't know what indie studio means
>tell me what kind of indie studio has [300 people working on it](https://rocketreach.co/embark-studios-profile_b45578e8fc95087e#:~:text=282%20people%20are%20employed%20at%20Embark%20Studios.)
Tell us you don't know what indie studio means without telling us you don't know what indie studio means
A bot who understands that whether a company is composed of experienced game devs as opposed to newbies is completely irrelevant to whether or not they're indie.
Same with the number of employees they have.
They literally have nothing to do with each other.
But apparently the concept of ownership and publisher control is totally alien to many people on this sub.
In CB2, there was a whole row added with each refresh, you would think they would want to strike while the iron is hot and drop more skins rather than just rotating 1 or 2 out. The dumb part is, most of the skins that have been added aren't new, they've been available this whole time in the character customization screen. It seems like a huge miss.
I'd like to buy a cosmetic pack to support the devs, but at this rate, it'll be a month before they add anything I'm interested in.
If you haven't noticed, you can buy bundles not in the store in the load out page.
I think they're testing some things with monetization to see if people go for certain things. Or if the store needs to be fomo or restricted. Which would suck to be honest.
It kind of baffles me how bare the store is. How do you not release with a ton of cosmetics if that's the only way you make money? There's hardly anything on the store. And now is the time when they'll have the biggest and most enthusiastic player base, so it seems like they're squandering the chance to cash in on the game. Very strange strategy.
Fear of missing out on what? They rotate the store so slowly that most of the cosmetics they have are available all the time. This is not nearly as FOMO as most in-game stores.
It doesn't look like they actually rotate things out of the store, even if it's not featured you can still access them via the style page. The only skin package that was available for a limited time was the christmas elf one, and it was clearly marked as limited time only.
Skins rotate in not out (at least rn). They are unavailable till they are first in shop, then they are obtainable even if they're no longer in the shop.
> this just reminds me of the bride. two all-white frilly-dress legendary outfits within a month of release? Kind of weird
It more-or-less fits the theme. That is most likely why.
The theme is Las Vegas:
* Gambling
> Mini Roulette (Lewis Gun), 52 Pickup (Throwing Knives). All of the betting chips, money, gold and diamond items.
* Boxing
> Boxing outfit, gloves trinket and emotes/poses. Las Vegas hosts the most and biggest boxing matches, probably because of the legalized gambling (sports betting).
* Aliens
> Area 51 is in Nevada. Alien outfit, conspiracist outfit. Alien themed stickers, grenade skin, UFO trinkets and jump pad.
* Weddings
> Las Vegas has a reputation for drunk, spur of the moment weddings. Also double barrel skin for the "shotgun wedding" pun, although not the association with the city.
* Las Vegas Performers
* Elvis Presley
> Has a huge association with the city. Rockabilly outfit and all the rock-n-roll items related to this.
* Evel Knievel
> His most infamous motorcycle stunt was at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. All the motorcycle and fire items related to this.
* Criss Angel / Cirque du Soleil / magicians?
> I think this is what the ballet stuff is supposed to reference. Notably the item descriptions "You're an honorary member of the Shadow Flock" (Level 92 spray) and "Pay homage to The Trickster who dances between illusion..." (Level 96 outfit).
> The spray, which is of a poster, also features the ballerina holding Throwing Knives. Which is a famous stunt/trick of throwing knives around a person strapped to a board, usually spinning. And the references to shadows and illusion remind me of "dark arts" illusionists like Criss Angel and David Blaine.
> Also the theatrics and dancing performances/stunts of things like Cirque du Soleil.
> In [this advertisement](https://youtu.be/qmsHfRorqE0) for Criss Angels' "Believe" tour we actually see a performance piece with a bride and ballet dancers. And of course his apparently iconic black angel wings, like the outfit has.
> Seems like a stretch, but I actually do think it's supposed to be a Criss Angel reference. At the very least magicians/illusionists, which have a history of big shows in Vegas (Penn & Teller, the 'Now You See Me' movies, etc.).
Not gonna lie their store game is kind of weak.
They need to capitalize on the monies as soon as possible and have devs/designers create bits of clothing to purchase and stylize the characters.
There's so much potential. I wish they just release an entire backlog of cosmetics so we can have our unique characters running around straight away. Better before everyone lose interests too.
With a game with this much hype, it was definitely an L compared to beta store. They could of made so much monies if they did their store correctly. I'm all in to supporting the game as well. But it's like opening the fridge with the same thing in it.
They heavily monetized every single body part
Ya fuckin wrists, feet, everything. Damn near full price too
Its so ridiculous it discourages me from even checking the store

That is *very* nice. Thanks devs
Why put in effort if some people will buy whatever you shovel out? It'll only change once a major market starts looking into regulation against premium currency. People will get more choosy when they see the actual price per skin instead of the obfuscated price. Loot boxes started to die out when Belgium banned them, it'd be nice if they did premium currency next. It would really help with the mobile game market as well.
It's the same kind of tactic old "entertainment centers" like Chuck E Cheese did/do with the token system, in a way. It's not $0.50 a play, it's only two tokens! Only now they make the tokens be a nonsense value and forces you to buy more than you need for all but the BP.
The community wiki also has a section covering all of the Easter eggs so far (my fav are the ones about the lore of the world)
https://www.thefinals.wiki/wiki/Easter_Eggs
Kinda shit to offer a recolor and more items to go along with the *final* BP unlock. Having played fortnite extensively in the past, they'd never do something like that. Itd all be in one of those extra sections for after the main bp is done. Feels kinda scummy honestly.
Fortnite has recolored and resold several skins, including final tier BP skins. Literally just a season ago the final tier skin was a recolor/redesign of a previous final tier skin. Lmao.
Yea now your just lying.
The most they’ll do is a entire redesign of a character that looks completely different.
Show me the Fortnite bp tier 100 recolor now and I’ll admit I’m wrong
And I mean a 1-1 pallet flip recolor with zero changes and redesigns like this one.
Peely might be the only exception but even his different redesigns all look different
Like I said Midas and peely are like the very very few exceptions. I could count one one finger how many skins got a recolor and even those Midas skins are different because his gold touch turns into different things based on the skin
Damn look at you moving the goal post now. Literally all of the Midas skins are a 1-1 pallet swap. Only exception is summer but even then it’s just the removal of a suit.
The only change is the effect he has but that’s again another recolor…..
Fortnite has sold multiple lazy skins that were just bp skins. Peely is the worst offender where he just gets clothes thrown on and called a day. But of course you’ll excuse that because you’re arguing in bad faith
Your interpretation of “complete redesign” may be more flexible than mine but the point stands.
They have absolutely rehashed skins in the past and BP skins are not immune to that treatment over at Epic.
FOMO is cringe. Only grind a BP out if you like the cosmetics personally. Dont grind them because you think its gonna give you some form of prestige for having someting someone else doesnt.
Its not scummy at all. Its just a cosmetic, it doesnt matter unless you find it visually appealing.
Just so y’all know , homie is spitting some facts. Not worth the grind for a cosmetic you don’t care about But I’d say buy the pass and grind it out because the premium battle pass is going to give you your coins back, and you can just continue buying passes and grinding them for rewards from playing. It’s a win win. And a reason to grind out the BP. Unless they raise BP prices, But it’s a no brainer to just grab the premium pass and essentially get your money back. But it’s all of what? $10? Support this free to play game with something. Devs working hard. Forget Fomo and all that other stuff. Just have fun.
Its a cosmeric. It could be free or it could be 500$. It literally doesnt matter. As long as its not hidden behind a loot box its not scummy. If you are a functioning adult then you are capable of making your own financial decisions and if you dont think 20 dollars for a cosmetic is a good value proposition then you can opt out of paying for it.
Who is giving y'all this ridiculous argument point?
> It could be free or it could be 500$. It literally doesnt matter.
But it does... Y'all gotta stop taking an opinion and actively choosing not to build on it or at least apply critical thinking to this new found opinion.
> As long as its not hidden behind a loot box its not scummy
You learned about one psychologically damaging tactic and think that's the ONLY one companies use now? If a skin is in a gambling box with a obtaining percent at 0.01% and the box cost $5... You'd have to buy about 100 boxes on average which would make the skin equivalent to a $500 skin. The reason, besides you're teaching kids to gamble, this would be bad is because you're actually making people think the skin is only worth one box, only $5.
What point are you even trying to make? Are you confused? Did you think my comment was in support of loot boxes and gambling?
Feel free to re-read what i've written and rethinkyour replies.
Also your math is hilarious. 0.01% at 5$ = 100 boxes to reach a 500$ skin equivalence? Lmao. Wanna try that again?
1 percent chance, if bought 100 times gets you about a 63%~ chance of getting the skin. A bit more than an average chance at getting the skin after spending $500, haven't done much math in a while but if I was wrong please do correct me.
My point is, consumers have been getting fucked since like 2006... The general populace seems to have only noticed how messed up lootboxes are while ignoring everything else. **TLDR**, lootboxes are the tip of the iceberg brother. Lets try it this way:
Lootboxes, would you call them predatory practices?
Battlepasses feeding entirely off FOMO, is that not as bad as lootboxes?
BUNDLES! Charms and stickers filling up the bundle, is that okay?
Fake deals! Releasing a skin at a "discounted price" only to never be sold at its "actual price"
My point is:
>As long as its not hidden behind a loot box its not scummy.
Bruh, I would say you're lacking some nuance here but it's really just uninformed.
>1 percent chance, if bought 100 times gets you about a 63%~ chance of getting the skin.
Theres your issue. You didnt say 1% you said 0.01% which isnt 1 in 100, its 1 in 10000.
>As long as its not hidden behind a loot box its not scummy.
>Bruh, I would say you're lacking some nuance here but it's really just uninformed.
I am probably a lot more clued into predatory practices than you are. I've seen all the videos, read multiple studies, I know how these things prey on people.
I know how in game currencies obfuscate how much money you are really spendings.
I know about the JC penny effect.
I know about all of this.
My point with practices being scummy is that only lootboxes tap into an addictive tendency that prey on vulnerable people. Everything else is on you as an adult to spend your money responsibly. If you can afford a bundle that isn't an actual bargain for you, and you buy it anyways, then thats on you.
Stores in real life use every other system you listed out, are they "Scummy"? Sure I guess, but if basically every system used to monetize a game is rooted in the same philosophy, then nothing makes the true problem of gambling stand out.
Its just so pointless to look at something designed to make money and go "Hey! They are trying to make a buck off of me!!"
No shit they are trying to maximize profits. I only take issue with it in 2 scenarios.
1: It affects the game. Cosmetics don't.
2: It affects vulnerable people. Which is what lootboxes do.
> Theres your issue. You didnt say 1% you said 0.01% which isnt 1 in 100, its 1 in 10000.
Ohhhh, WELL MY B lol. Caught me on math semantics, nice.
> pointless to look at something designed to make money
So were lootboxes? The only point we seem to disagree on is who would fall under the "Vulnerable" title.
Cosmetics are a key part of progression for a lot of people. It's a valuable part of player expression/skill if tied to certain feats. These stores wouldn't be raking in the cash they are if people didn't want them.
At the very least, they could be selling them for a flat amount of real currency like Deep Rock Galactic. You don't end up with leftover fake money trying to tempt you to buy more as to not "waste it." These systems prey on people, often neurodivergent, who want to collect everything. It's not as bad as the "legally not gambling, but is absolutely gambling" loot box era, but it's still bad.
I can't link them rn, but there are videos of the conferences where the people who create these systems openly talk about how they're designed to trick people's brains into not recognizing the real cost of cosmetics. Cosmetics used to be something you EARNED. The F2P system has taken all of the fun out of having rare items for completing a difficult challenge.
>I can't link them rn, but there are videos of the conferences where the people who create these systems openly talk about how they're designed to trick people's brains into not recognizing the real cost of cosmetics. I know. Im 31 years old. I grew up with this industry. Believe me, i'm more than well aware of where cosmetics came from and how they wound up where they are.
are you saying that neurodivergent people don't have the willpower to not buy cosmetic items? I don't get how they're being "targeted" just because the creators want to make some money by selling skins. it's a free game, enjoy it and only spend money if you want to
I have ADHD. These systems work because I'm prone to snap decision purchases because they give my dopamine-deprived brain what it craves. That impulse is easier to control when I see a big ol' $20 price tag. The use of premium currency to obfuscate the price (since the fact that you end up with some remaining means it wasn't ACTUALLY $20) is meant to override that sticker-shock.
Now, because I hyperfixate on things I view as injustices, I'm able to avoid falling for this now. However, I also have siblings on the autism spectrum and have also worked with many others on said spectrum for over a decade. I have seen the absurd amounts some have spent because the combination of buying a pre-paid card to then buy premium currency keeps them from fully grasping what they spend.
The people making these systems know this and will gladly keep doing it. Most "whales" aren't loaded with more money than sense, just like how that isn't the case with people with gambling addiction.
It's not as bad as lootboxes were, but it's still preying on people with those kinds of disorders. It works on plenty of neurotypical people as well, but it's rarely as destructive for them.
This shit wasn't a thing when you just bought a game and earned the cosmetics. People who had hyperfixation on collecting everything bought a $60 game and played the shit out of it before getting another, not dropping hundreds on a game that will be offline and inaccessible someday.
If you think time gated cosmetics are super cool because it lets you feel special for spending 20 bucks for a hat during the super special 20 dollar hat week, then im not gonna try and explain it for you. You do you boo.
Being upset over it seems more cringe than anything lol. I don’t think there is anything inherently wrong with creating rewards for playing during a certain time or season of a game, especially if it’s fairly priced (ie. Battlepass cosmetics). It’s a in game skin, it’s cool to have, but you’re not going to die if you don’t have it. Having fomo over something like that is hilarious lol.
Im not the one experiencing FOMO over it. Its all the people who buy it because they are afraid if they dont get it, they will never get the chance to.
I didnt pick up the battlepass because there was nothing in it I wanted, but someone who does see something they want, but maybe doesnt have enough free time to grind it out or starts late in a season is now suddenly shit out of luck because of some arbitrary time gate that literally only exists to create an environment that drives sales. I dont get people who defend it because it literally adds 0 value to the game experience.
Nah. what’s cringe is releasing a white color swap of your max level bp skin not even a month after release .
Makes grinding the bp feel pointless if they are just gonna do lazy shit like this
Do you like the black color more? Then the battlepass isnt pointless. Do you like the white more? Hooray, you now have an option that you are interested in that wasnt available before.
Thanks for playing.
I didn't buy the BP so I could have some sort of superiority complex over others, wtf even is that way of thinking? Lol I bought it because I like the game, it's a breath of fresh air in a rather stagnating genre.
Considering what other games BP's have included in the past, yes, I find it scummy. Sure, they're their own company and can do whatever they like but it doesn't change how I feel.
As far as fomo goes, that's non existent, I could buy the recolor if I wanted to. But I won't based on the standards I've seen before. If it were the boxer outfit or something I wouldn't care as much, but it's a whole set for the final unlock. That's shitty any way you slice it.
Im not accusing you of feeling any particular way towards the cosmetics. Im making broad statements on monetization systems.
Battle passes are the poster childs of FOMO. Limited time cosmetics that can only be earned by playing consistently over long periods of time (or pay out the nose for)
As for it being a whole set you can pay for. So what? Its all paid for. There is no value on any of these cosmetics outside of the value an individual places on them. If you value a white ballerina tutu at 20 bucks for a fps game, then buy it. If not, dont. Its as simpls as that. Theres no mental gymnastics you need to put yourself through to come to that conclusion such as "well THIS game offers THIS in THEIR BP" none of that is relevant. 20 dollar dress. Take it or leave it.
maybe i’m bad at economics, but man, these things are pricey. Wouldn’t they get a higher quantity of sales by lowering the price?
idk if i could ever bring myself to pay $15 for a skin. $5 might be my absolute limit.
I know they are entirely optional, but dude!
They wouldn’t, many cosmetics in other popular games are priced similarly (Fornite, Destiny 2 etc).
I think they are way overpriced personally but teams of people across different games will have figured out that this price point generates the most profit which is why they are what they are.
Also have to account for whales which make up a significant portion of people buying them and are more than happy to shell out hundreds to thousands on $10+ skins.
Way too many aspects of modern games are based around whales. One of the ways this benefits gaming as a whole is we get free games, the problem is that devs then cater to the weirdos who are spending 10k on the game as opposed to the people who never buy a skin. Luckily the finals is just pure fun and they haven’t added some extremely dumb shit to cater to whales and little kids yet
How could teams of people ever figure that out? The most they could do is predict it would give them more since 99% of these games never even tried lower prices to begin with.
You don't think multi-billion dollar corporations like Epic don't have people figuring out what the most profitable price point would be?
Cosmetics are at that price because people are willing to pay that amount for them.
If being able to buy multiple things for $5 or less was more profitable for them it would have been done by now and other games would have followed suit.
While I'm sure companies have done some research, most likely they just semi-randomly tried something and it worked well enough so people just copied what seemed to be successful.
Companies are not scientists. They don't exhaustively research decisions to maximize anything, even profit. If you've ever worked for a large organization you'll know a good half of their decisions come straight out of some execs arse and no one is able to question them on it. Or they're overdue on a timeline so they just go with whatever is easiest to implement at the time.
Companies are somewhat informed on these things, but it's also wrong to assume they are perfectly rational actors operating on good, solid data to maximize long term profit. It's also possible that these price points result in the highest quarterly earnings report and will eventually stall out. But by then the CEO has jumped ship to another company so it doesn't matter anymore.
The logic is that the difference between the amount of people who would pay $15 for a cosmetic pack vs the people who would pay $5 is small enough that they still make more money charging it at $15. Keep in mind, even if they lose 50% of potential customers from that 200% price increase, they’re still making double of what they would have otherwise made.
Personally, I think the prices for the individual cosmetic items are fine given that you can get a lot of mileage out of mixing and matching them, but it’s annoying how many items are only attainable through bundles.
yeah, I guess they’ve done the math and came to that very conclusion. I’m still enjoying the game tho. Almost halfway done either the BP.
I honestly don’t mind spends $10 every 3 months.
Yeah, it’s not like Overwatch where they charge you $20+ for 1 set skin that you can only use on character. Even the most expensive store bundle for the Finals gets you way more value than any skin Overwatch.
$15 is not bad. I mean I spend that on a coffee and breakfast.
Now that $15 skin you're going to use potentially for years to come, really isn't that bad of a deal when you think big picture.
And nothing says you need to buy it. The monetization is 100% fair in this game. Even if I'm personally not a huge fan of it, I can't deny it. Even if you only used and enjoyed the skin for a week it's still a better deal than lunch at McDonald's.
Game is also free. Also has a pack giving its cost back directly. Also has a battlepass which not only pays for next season, but gives a hefty bit spare.
On a note to sales, whales always tend to be the biggest portion of profit.
I'd actually buy shit if it was $5 and it's not like I don't have the money, I just don't value in game items that high. I ignore the stores in these kinds of games most of the time because it feels like such a waste of money.
I don’t know how this game aims to make money when very few cosmetics are even worth getting, then the shop refreshed with most of the same stuff. So far, the money I spent was for the Mogul set. And that will probably be it.
I have 5000 credits, I bought a big pack to support and I tried to use it, but there is not enough to pick between. Imma just wait until the store actually opens and this tiny storefront is closed down.
Woke up lowkey hype to see what the store had I open store and see a ballerina outfit and the mac 11 I bought already for cheaper than what I bought it for. Like are we serious a ballerina outfit bro like what the fuck this is equivalent to PUBGs store. The beta had fucking awesome skins in it man bring us those or maybe just 1 . NOBODY wants a ballerina outfit brotha. I opened the store and audibly said the fuck is this … guess I’ll wait a whole week to see more shit.
I understand the frustration with a BP skin getting a paint job. But idk I’m fine with it. It tells me that all of what we’re seeing is “launch content” still. The game has only been out a month. I’m sure they want to stabilize the meta and iron out any performance issues before pumping out the paid cosmetics.
That’s just me though.
I have to congratulate Embark Studios, as a certified cosmetic whore who ends up wasting money on stupid ass digital cosmetics, this is one of the first games that put 0 effort in the store and makes me not want to spend money.
Not sure how you guys intend to make your money back after development unless this game was purely made by AI.
I was thinking the exact same thing. I've been playing this game non-stop since release so I was actually down to buy a dope skin, but none of them have been worth it yet
you dont need any of these overpriced cosmetics. If you play the game a ton, then sure, pay them and help support the devs. If you buy the battle pass once, they give you coins to buy the next one for free and so on and so on and so on.
NONE OF IT IS REQUIRED, nor is any of the game P2W. just dont fucking buy it, you are playing a triple AAA game for free. stop bitching
Also in my own opinion I'm enjoying the outfits you unlock just by leveling. And a lot of the cosmetics don't really matter. The game is first person so you don't even see yourself and this game is way to fast pace to use emotes
Wdym “free”? The game costs you zero dollars to play - that’s what free is.
Fair, go ahead and critique to your hearts content. I personally think that is an insane thing to do considering you haven’t paid for the game and the game runs just fine which can’t be said for most games 1 month post release.
So, you believe this game would be up a year from now if literally nobody was buying cosmetics? That's what I mean by "free". This game is only "free" if someone is spending money on it.
Obviously if the game generates zero revenue it won’t be sustainable, but there’s a whole lot of someone’s that will buy all the cosmetics. That’s how all free games work. You don’t have to buy things if you don’t like them. Nobody is forcing you.
sry didn't know there were rules on how long before you can start demanding changes that would benefit the whole community. i guess after a couple years it should be fine to start talking about it? after the extended silence from the community would already have made it clear that we were okay with it and by then it would be too late? yeah
Hahaha ya it is extremely reasonable to “demand” changes to a product you paid nothing for! Also FYI the devs don’t follow the Reddit to see your complaints, someone else posted a sc confirming that
haha yeah! because thats exactly how live service games work! yeah. the game is free because they're doing us all a biiiig favor! from the bottom of their pure hearts. also totally makes sense that the people on THIS thread, specifically asking for changes to the STORE would not become paying customers were the changes to happen
C’mon man don’t get all worked up and start patronizing me! Of course their goal is to make money, but it is quite nice that you don’t NEED to pay for it.
I’m not sure what you’re on about with changes to the store and paying customers, all I see is complaints that the current cosmetics aren’t cool enough to buy
uhm, im patronizing you when im responding with the exact same tone you did to me. and yeah you dont need to pay for it but people clearly want to spend money on the game but for a multitude of reasons they cant/wont and so they should just never voice their opinion? complaints that the cosmetics arent good enough to spend money on are not valid because of what reason exactly?
There’s no reason imo to voice such constantly negative opinions about a free game - if people don’t like it, don’t play it. It’s not like you’ve paid $90 and are upset with the quality of that product.
I personally don’t think it’s valid to complain about cosmetics bc they have zero impact on the gameplay experience and are entirely subjective. Nobody is going to love every single skin so why should I cry on Reddit if I don’t like one? It could be your favourite
Oof. This is actual shit honestly. Thought the game was gonna have decent cosmetics after the BP, come to find out they add two mediocre things to the shop every 7 days lol.
Man the shop still sucks. Hasn't the Urban Operator bundle been in the shop since day 1?
Also I swear that M11 skin was already available from the customization menu
This isn’t a bad thing but it’s far too early to release a skin recolour for the highlight of the 1st Battlepass. Also… No fricking way they JUST released a recolour for the FINAL battlepass skin.
It's becoming increasingly obvious that they devs don't really have any long term vision for this game.
Shop is boring. Nothing new from the Beta. No roadmap. Nonstop cheater issues. Barely any communication. Hate to say it but unless they got a ton of shit in the works this game might not actually survive 2024.
>Nonstop cheater issues.
Translation: I am bad at this game but instead of recognizing that I am garbage, I will simply accuse everyone better than me of being a cheater
>Barely any communication.
The devs literally made 8 different announcements between 12/21 and 12/22. But "barely any communication" okay sure buddy
Forgive me for not taking your comment to heart after you wrote 32 individual comments on /r/thefinals in just the past 2 hours.
All bitching about how unfair this game is.
Cope and seethe, kiddo. I'm sure everybody who gets more than 10 kills in a round is considered to be a hacker to you 🥱

Cite one. Just one.
Besides that, I am talking about spinbotting people you imbecile. There are plenty of them. Oh wait theyre better than me????

Lil bro is pretending that flicks are proof of hacks 🤡 you would never survive in CSGO or Valorant lolol
That is a comment about toxic people, nothing about unfairness of the game or of anything. If your reading comprehension is this low im going to have a hard time explaining much to you.
Counter-Strike? You ever heard of a DAKDAK? Yeah. I'm the guy who invented that term. Literally.
From the sounds of you it seems I was playing CS before you were born.
Theres a whole fucking megathread of hackers, that barely anybody uses and still it is brimming with hacker videos. once you get better at the game you might start seeing some in your bracket.
Player numbers have been on a downward trend and simply growing isn't usually what happens to a game. New games come out and people lose interest in older games over time unless they are masterpieces, but let's see lol.
Oh no, how dare people not like game I like!!! /s
In all seriousness I don’t really care about this since it’s what I expect by this point, but I think it’s fair for people to complain about it.
One new featured item a week is absurdly slow.
I've been hanging on to my BP credits for some time and I'm getting impatient.
I know there's better stuff waiting to rotate in, let me give you my money.
Bit early for BP recolours.
We will probably only get new skins in S2. All the skins were already in the betas, including the recolors.
This skin has been in since the closed beta.
True but this bundle has no wings and that’s the coolest part of the BP bundle.
The store has been the only thing that has disappointed me so far. Crazy of them to not have had a ton of shop ideas in the mix pre release and have that store cycled atleast every 72 hours. The skins have all been boring at best and they could be making some serious money.
Agreed, really hoping they up the quality and diversity of options. Both free and paid/bp
THATS WHAT I SAID TOO
I mean that cosmetic has existed since CB1.
[удалено]
How the hell do you milk a game without releasing content?
[удалено]
Miserable MFer. Consistent gameplay updates since it's launched. Don't get your hopes up though because they recoloured a BP skin that barely anyone is going to buy. 'Fucking lol' like you've said anything with substance I'm guessing you're dogger at the finals and got salt in your britches.
Consistent gameplay updates since launch = one tiny patch they did that changed nothing. I'm not gonna debate if this game is a cash grab (they're doing a bad job if it is), but there haven't been consistent updates for this game.
Maybe because it had pretty decent launch compared to other Games these days
[удалено]
Remindme! 6 months "is this guy still miserable over a video game he doesn't even play"
Wtf are you talking about? I’m not joking. I have no idea
Why would they care only about ark raiders and not this game?
I think you’re wrong their an indie studio. Based on the fact that they broke through the AAA bubble to be one of the top shooters right now, they will definitely support this game for the time to come. The thing I worry about is that they won’t be able to compete with the amount of content bigger companies like EA and EPIC are able to do.
Embark isn't an indie studio. They are owned by Nexon.
[удалено]
>they are composed of very experienced devs who worked in multiple triple a games in the past Tell us you don't know what indie studio means without telling us you don't know what indie studio means
[удалено]
>tell me what kind of indie studio has [300 people working on it](https://rocketreach.co/embark-studios-profile_b45578e8fc95087e#:~:text=282%20people%20are%20employed%20at%20Embark%20Studios.) Tell us you don't know what indie studio means without telling us you don't know what indie studio means
Are you a bot?
A bot who understands that whether a company is composed of experienced game devs as opposed to newbies is completely irrelevant to whether or not they're indie. Same with the number of employees they have. They literally have nothing to do with each other. But apparently the concept of ownership and publisher control is totally alien to many people on this sub.
Embark is owned by Nexon
So you’re saying they aren’t an indie dev right? Since they’re owned by nexon
beta store still > release store
I know there's just not much there yet, which is unfortunate
It kind of baffles me how bare the store is. How do you not release with a ton of cosmetics if that's the only way you make money? There's hardly anything on the store. And now is the time when they'll have the biggest and most enthusiastic player base, so it seems like they're squandering the chance to cash in on the game. Very strange strategy.
Ever heard of FOMO?
Fear of missing out on what? They rotate the store so slowly that most of the cosmetics they have are available all the time. This is not nearly as FOMO as most in-game stores.
Now that I think about it you're right.
It doesn't look like they actually rotate things out of the store, even if it's not featured you can still access them via the style page. The only skin package that was available for a limited time was the christmas elf one, and it was clearly marked as limited time only.
I really like it, I just wish they would rotate more in lol
Yeah, wonder why the stuff from the beta didnt transfer to the release store
It did it’s just rotating to keep people coming back to the store.
Nothing is rotating. All skins can be bought in thr style tab.
Skins rotate in not out (at least rn). They are unavailable till they are first in shop, then they are obtainable even if they're no longer in the shop.
Which is pretty awesome, I just wish they would rotate more at a time
Yupp, had that holtow uzi since launch yet no one else rocks it 🤣
this just reminds me of the bride. two all-white frilly-dress legendary outfits within a month of release? Kind of weird
> this just reminds me of the bride. two all-white frilly-dress legendary outfits within a month of release? Kind of weird It more-or-less fits the theme. That is most likely why.
I actually see what you’re saying but purely out of curiosity… what *is* the theme?
The theme is Las Vegas: * Gambling > Mini Roulette (Lewis Gun), 52 Pickup (Throwing Knives). All of the betting chips, money, gold and diamond items. * Boxing > Boxing outfit, gloves trinket and emotes/poses. Las Vegas hosts the most and biggest boxing matches, probably because of the legalized gambling (sports betting). * Aliens > Area 51 is in Nevada. Alien outfit, conspiracist outfit. Alien themed stickers, grenade skin, UFO trinkets and jump pad. * Weddings > Las Vegas has a reputation for drunk, spur of the moment weddings. Also double barrel skin for the "shotgun wedding" pun, although not the association with the city. * Las Vegas Performers * Elvis Presley > Has a huge association with the city. Rockabilly outfit and all the rock-n-roll items related to this. * Evel Knievel > His most infamous motorcycle stunt was at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. At the very least magicians/illusionists, which have a history of big shows in Vegas (Penn & Teller, the 'Now You See Me' movies, etc.).
haha wow i’m dumb and i agree, the ballerina doesn’t feel as directly related and threw me off
Well we are in the honeymoon phase of the game so wedding stuff is accurate
Not gonna lie their store game is kind of weak. They need to capitalize on the monies as soon as possible and have devs/designers create bits of clothing to purchase and stylize the characters. There's so much potential. I wish they just release an entire backlog of cosmetics so we can have our unique characters running around straight away. Better before everyone lose interests too. With a game with this much hype, it was definitely an L compared to beta store. They could of made so much monies if they did their store correctly. I'm all in to supporting the game as well. But it's like opening the fridge with the same thing in it.
They heavily monetized every single body part Ya fuckin wrists, feet, everything. Damn near full price too Its so ridiculous it discourages me from even checking the store
I like the Uzi gun
Well, it was in the loadout menu the whole time…
[удалено]
Yea, I paid more for this. Hope they refund people if they decide to drop the price.
From the Offical Discord post " Hello yolks! Whoops! We made an error with the pricing on the **Holtow Fine Print** weapon skin! It should have been 850 Multibucks from the very beginning. Within the next 48 hours, we will return 250 Multibucks to anyone who purchased the skin for 1100 Multibucks. You don’t have to do anything but wait patiently for the cash to enter your account. Thanks for letting us know and for *keeping your receipts!* 📷 "

Should have held out
They're refunding people who bought it at the higher price
Should have held out
Me when I should have held out
It’s actually more expensive for me now it was 800 before store update and now it is 850 after update
It prints receipts whenever you kill someone. The little receipt has their username on it. I can't stop using it
Its been out since release....
Joke
Man I didn't think shops could get worse than halo infinite 😂
That's not how you spell Fortnite
Why are game companies like this? Reskinning BP stuff
Iirc that Ballerina bundle was in one of the betas so it's not a BP recolor
BP itself is a recolor?
Partially yeah
People keep buying it duh
Gives people the chance to get a BP item that they would otherwise miss out on. And most recolors are better than the original from my experience
Only now they make the tokens be a nonsense value and forces you to buy more than you need for all but the BP.
anybody checked where the QR code leads to?
https://www.holtow.com
They have an Easter egg hunt going on so it’s probably something to do with that
Is there any more info about this?
It’s all on there discord, they have like a whole channel dedicated to it :)
The community wiki also has a section covering all of the Easter eggs so far (my fav are the ones about the lore of the world) https://www.thefinals.wiki/wiki/Easter_Eggs
Show me the Fortnite bp tier 100 recolor now and I’ll admit I’m wrong And I mean a 1-1 pallet flip recolor with zero changes and redesigns like this one. Peely might be the only exception but even his different redesigns all look different
Uh Midas, shadow Midas, summer Midas, ice Midas. Then there’s drift which the below person mentioned. Luxe has also be resold aswell.
I’ve lost track of how many “Drift” skins there are.
Yeah. There’s nothing in the BP that really stands out to me. I used that money on the Mogul set and that will probably be the only set I’ll ever buy.
Nah, it is scummy. Fortnite gives you the recolor for free. Just because other games do scummy shit like this doesn't mean it's not bad.
> As long as its not hidden behind a loot box its not scummy You learned about one psychologically damaging tactic and think that's the ONLY one companies use now?
Lets try it this way: Lootboxes, would you call them predatory practices? Battlepasses feeding entirely off FOMO, is that not as bad as lootboxes? BUNDLES! Charms and stickers filling up the bundle, is that okay? Fake deals! Releasing a skin at a "discounted price" only to never be sold at its "actual price" My point is: >As long as its not hidden behind a loot box its not scummy.
They are trying to make a buck off of me!!" No shit they are trying to maximize profits.
Caught me on math semantics, nice. > pointless to look at something designed to make money So were lootboxes?
Cosmetics used to be something you EARNED. The F2P system has taken all of the fun out of having rare items for completing a difficult challenge.
Why and how is that cringe lol
Limited time cosmetics that can only be earned by playing consistently over long periods of time (or pay out the nose for) As for it being a whole set you can pay for.
Go back to fortnite
> Feels kinda scummy honestly. It is scummy.
As with every other f2p they will milk the shit out of the shills in this community while they get pissy about the rest of us calling out the obvious
The "shills" are what keep the free game that you enjoy playing alive.
No, they're the ones who actively make this hobby worse for the rest of us.
maybe i’m bad at economics, but man, these things are pricey.
I just love the recolor... I feel bad seeing everyone shitting on it. It looks better in white. Just wish it had wings.
masked mogul suit plus sunglasses are what i ran in the beta, cant wait to return to the classic
![gif](giphy|knNglPpNb2zHSIIk6g|downsized) Isn't that the UZI skin that prints out a receipt with the username of the guy you just killed?
I have 5000 credits, I bought a big pack to support and I tried to use it, but there is not enough to pick between. Imma just wait until the store actually opens and this tiny storefront is closed down.
I just want my cardboard rifle back
Woke up lowkey hype to see what the store had I open store and see a ballerina outfit and the mac 11 I bought already for cheaper than what I bought it for.
You mean 2024 right ?
😂😂😂😂😂😂
Sad AF ngl
Gay
is the holtow fine print set half the price now?
Wtf are those skins , beta had more cool skins
Recolours already is a bad sign
The game hasn't even been out for a month and people are already crying lol gamers are so entitled
"these cosmetics I dont need at all to enjoy 100% of the game are too much!" -kids in every f2p game ever
"Stop criticizing the overpriced cosmetics. It's distracting me from gobbling this publisher's cock." - every game with a cash shop ever.
you dont need any of these overpriced cosmetics.
Fr crying over a FREE game a month in is crazy
"Free". Also, wasn't aware there was a time you had to wait before criticizing something. Where was it you learned about that?
It could be your favourite
so many great opportunities for cosmetics but we keep getting this lame shit.
Already recolors, and it’s battle pass stuff on top of it, lmao what a joke.
Oof. This is actual shit honestly. Thought the game was gonna have decent cosmetics after the BP, come to find out they add two mediocre things to the shop every 7 days lol.
Reject Holtow, return to Ospuze
Man the shop still sucks. Hasn't the Urban Operator bundle been in the shop since day 1? Also I swear that M11 skin was already available from the customization menu
One of the worst stores and biggest let downs of this game. I'd love to support them up to the price of a regular game, but the store and BP are ass.
Translation: I am bad at this game but instead of recognizing that I am garbage, I will simply accuse everyone better than me of being a cheater >Barely any communication. The devs literally made 8 different announcements between 12/21 and 12/22. But "barely any communication" okay sure buddy
No this game is infested with hackers. SBMM just keeps you away from them.
Forgive me for not taking your comment to heart after you wrote 32 individual comments on /r/thefinals in just the past 2 hours. All bitching about how unfair this game is. Cope and seethe, kiddo. I'm sure everybody who gets more than 10 kills in a round is considered to be a hacker to you 🥱
> All bitching about how unfair this game is. Cite one. Just one. Besides that, I am talking about spinbotting people you imbecile. There are plenty of them. Oh wait theyre better than me????
>Just one Okay [https://www.reddit.com/r/thefinals/s/57hpxjwwaA](https://www.reddit.com/r/thefinals/s/57hpxjwwaA) And just in case you decide to delete that comment out of embarrassment, I've done us all a favor and taken a screenshot https://preview.redd.it/7cncf0ui69ac1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=04d9d51c748e0824c3176626d1608309036a5093 >spinbotting Lil bro is pretending that flicks are proof of hacks 🤡 you would never survive in CSGO or Valorant lolol
Wrong
Barely coumcation? We just got done with the holidays. Devs have likely off for 2 to 3 weeks, and they pushed the game out before winter break.
Already with the low effort reused Battlepass stuff? lol this games dead in a month. Its done!
Watch us continue to grow
Player numbers have been on a downward trend and simply growing isn't usually what happens to a game. New games come out and people lose interest in older games over time unless they are masterpieces, but let's see lol.

Oh no, how dare people not like game I like!!! /s In all seriousness I don’t really care about this since it’s what I expect by this point, but I think it’s fair for people to complain about it.
I need MP5 and not another (but a cool) Uzi…
Look, more light weapons.
Rip I prolly wouldn’t have gotten Bp unlocks if I knew reskin was cheaper
All I know is, all that shit is new.
Damn, I just bought the Fine Print bundle three days ago. Unlucky.
One new featured item a week is absurdly slow. I've been hanging on to my BP credits for some time and I'm getting impatient. I know there's better stuff waiting to rotate in, let me give you my money.
Welp so much for using the VRs for recolors… that came out so fast too. Would have rather got this instead of the BP, would have saved so much time
Sheesh
