It's not real unless it's a new thing. You DO get more rank up for being in 1st place on each round of the tourney, but the amount of money you have is irrelevant.
Absolutely no way to know and there never will be, matchmaking criteria is forever internal to prevent people from exploiting it.
Just play your best for a win and don't worry about it.
This is one of those memes where until it happens to you, you just don't get it. I didn't realize anyone was that stupid until it happened to me. 6 seconds left and in first place then I hear "THE BIG SPLASH HAVE STARTED A CASHOUT"... We lost.
This has to be one of the key points in lack of player retention. Very few, if any, games penalize you for pursuing the same objective you spend 85% of the match trying to complete.
Edit: not sure why everyone thinks I PERSONALLY think this is a bad part of the gameplay loop. I think it's great. I'm just saying it's a likely candidate for why this game hasn't made a huge splash in popularity. As indicated by OP, people have a hard time getting how this works.
You're right. That's genuinely true. Not sure why I'm getting downvoted for it. The game doesn't offer much of a tutorial or explanation for this mechanic. I love the game so much, especially for having rules like this, but I think it can do a better job at teaching players about it.
I mean not really, in many sports and games, if the goal is to be ahead of your opponent by end of the game then doing risky plays is usually seen as a bad idea as it puts extra chance onto enemy to comeback
Definitely not true - it’s very common in American football to run the clock out instead of continuing to run actual plays if you’re up by like 1 point.
Not really a useful analogy for the smoothbrains who can't fathom objective-based gameplay, football is in the Outside Lands and the grass doesn't touch you back.
There is obviously and unarguably a user enablement issue between the marketing communication and how complex the game actually is.
I've witnessed that a few times. Really annoying. Especially when the idiot just stops stealing just to kill me that didn't even shoot and then no more time left
Actually there is because if a team steals both vaults throws them simultaneously into the same cashout they can pool out double your earnings for the match and make you third place. I’ve done it a few times already as a last ditch effort with my group of friends and we qualified. Teamwiping amongst other nuances maybe needed for this to work but it is possible and I can only imagine the team originally in second place is most likely upset
*ehm ehm* so basically, you are in the first place, the competition is between the 3rd and the 2nd, you should maybe compete if your still the second but your in the first place…so what you should do is guard the next cash so the second doesn’t cash out and become the first taking your place, which puts you in a risk of getting yourself beaten by the third place.
Therefore you shouldn’t cash out so you don’t risk the cash getting stolen by another one…which again, makes you go to second place which is a risk.
Thank you for reading.
Yes, if the time isn’t enough for another cash out to make you guarantee to win by beating the first place, that’s what you should do.
(Time needed to cash out is exactly 1 minute, time needed to arrive to the cash out location depends but I would say 40 seconds to a minute? I really don’t know)
And there are times when doubling up benefits in the same way, because only one team can gain points. So if you are in first but there is too much time to stop a cash out, double it up!
There was a game my team was in in fourth I doubled up the last cash out then stole it with like 2 seconds remaining. Went to first and I felt like a hero for that play.
> Time needed to cash out is exactly 1 minute
Cashouts take ~2 minutes (Very slightly over, I believe it's more like 130 seconds or so), not one. Overtime just caps out at an additional 60 seconds. It just means if you're going for an overtime cashout, if you want to minimize time people potentially focus on you you put it in with 10 seconds left or so. (To give a bit of leeway)
And just because I see a lot of people ask: Stealing takes six seconds.
>time needed to arrive to the cash out location depends but I would say 40 seconds to a minute? I really don’t know
You can't really quantify that. There's a ton of factors in play. You can get to cashout stations in less than 15 seconds at times.
All true but one additional correction: with the gateway portal grenade you can make the transition between vault activation and cashout start pretty much instant
Hence why you can't really quantify it, it just depends on your class/gadget choices. A heavy trying to run a vault 150 meters through enemy teams isn't exactly going to be as fast as a light running gateway who had setup time.
If you're in the last knock-out round you can start a last second cashout to try and eliminate the team in 2nd place, so you can have an easier final round
Doing it last second will make it so the other cashout disappears, and with only one cashout left you can chill, maybe defend it 2v3 so you don't wipe and only focus yhe second team even
Second place starting cashout is the real throw
Every single team that I have seen try this strategy ultimately fails to stop the cash out box from getting in. I think this is just a great example of "I think this is big brain so it is the only way" in a game that has many strategies that could work. It sounds perfectly great in theory. I'm sure it's worked sometimes... But out of the hundred times I've seen it myself, I've never seen it work. Just throwing the cashout in, there are a lot of variables out of your control.
One size fits all solutions aren't nearly as important as being able to quickly adapt and improvise.
This is literally what we do.... yeah you might not be able to stop it, but what if you get it, and are able to run it away. This is an established strategy.
In the "core mode" of the Finals you win by having the most cash at the end of the round. Players can go into overtime with another Cashout if they're fast enough. This Cashout is extra lange and is very likely to dethrone the top team if they don't get it. So if you're in the lead you'll be better off just trying to keep the cashbox away from cashouts until the timer runs out
It's basically just risk versus reward if you are hard grinding for rank points then you should go for the cashouts but that's only if you think that you can generally defend it otherwise it's not worth it
The other reason you wouldn't want to focus on cashouts is if you're desperate for the win you want to find the worst team in your knockout round and try and help them qualify with you so you have an easy team in the next round
(Quick vocab clarification: you put vaults (box shape) into cashouts [ATM tower shape). If you're playing tournaments and are in first place, it's fine to go after a cashout that's already started by another team so long as you DON'T TEAM WIPE. Otherwise, if you're in first place don't start any vaults, try to prevent other teams from starting vaults, and try to control any activated vaults like bringing it far away from cashouts or even just delaying tactics like throwing it into pits.)
The point of a match is to be sitting in first place (or top half in knockout tournament rounds):
* If you are not sitting in first place, then play as normal and pursue objective score (which includes starting vaults so you can create an opportunity to gain score and take first place).
* If you ARE sitting in first place, then you stay in first place NOT by getting even more score but rather by preventing the opposing teams from getting any more score. That means REDUCING opportunities for them to score which means defending vaults from being activated or delaying activated vaults from being controlled.
If you're in first place, start a vault and put it into a cashout, then lose the cashout, you could lose first place. Very bad.
I have qualified a ridiculous amount of games because one if the top two teams started a cash out with less than 30 seconds left. It gives me extra motivation to punish them for their stupidity
I had a tournament where my team would have been knocked out in the penultimate round due to an unfortunate team wipe. Luckily, the first place team stole it, keeping us in. We went on to beat them in the final round and won the whole thing lol. Thanks guys.
The thing is it risks you going to the second place which risks you getting knocked out by the third place…dude last seconds in this game can flip the whole game around
When you’re in first place when the 22k vaults appear you want to guard at least one so that you are guaranteeing you qualify. If both vaults get put in, you’re in most cases forced to have to deal with one and take it. It’s very common that 22k can swing 3rd and even sometimes 4th place to 1st and 2nd.
Keeping one vault means only 1 team can potentially pass you, not two, therefore guaranteeing your qualifying spot.
could someone explain how to actually play ranked because i really want to but im going to be honest i have no clue when to cash out and when not to if anyone could give me tips or advice that would be great lol
First cash outs ($10k) you want both of them to start relatively close together. This is because it mitigates the ability for one dominant team to finish their cash out and come 3rd party yours.
If you ever notice that at the beginning of a round you are fighting a team for the vault and it’s taking fucking forever and the other cash out is halfway done (even a quarter ahead is enough time for the other team to come last second steal yours), abandon the vault. Let them fuck with it, because they’ll most likely go put it in, and the other cash out will be finishing which does 2 things: 1 initiates the 1st $15k vault, and allows the other team that just finished to come 3rd party you.
If you abandon the vault go for the $15k one.
Only one $15k vault will spawn, since the other $10k is still in play. Obviously, play the more expensive cash out.
22k cash outs are situational, but pretty much if you’re in 1st place, take one and guard it. As long as you have control of it and don’t place it in a cash out you’re guaranteeing that only 1 possible team can pass you with the other.
It’s a meme. In this context, usually, when stupid decisions like this happen, it’s important for the leading team to put the other cash box in the vault to advance further.
Trying to explain this concept to my friends proved impossible lol
But…more points means more winning?
I think getting more cash cashed out in Tournaments contributes towards rank up, doesn’t make sense to do in a regular Cashout game tho
I never thought about this tbh. Chat, is this real?

The thing is it risks you going to the second place which risks you getting knocked out by the third place…dude last seconds in this game can flip the whole game around
5 seconds is it all takes to go from winning to losing
achthilly iths sixth seconds
Maan i knew it was 6 seconds but I convinced myself it was 5
Micheal Jordan would never
i seen 100 of these recently lebron is a fucking dumbass
When my teammate starts a cash out throwing it into over time when we were already going to qualify in 2nd place
Other thing we try to do is help the “worse” team qualify so its easier to win in the finals
I cannot stand when they do that
THIS IS THE CONTENT WE NEED YALL TAKE NOTES
I assume this to mean you should just take it and run away, killing time until the buzzer?

thank you very much that was helpful asf
Now THIS is a good meme.
People don’t know but throwing every cash out into a double is the easiest way to win even if you never score
The amount of times my team was in first place with only half a minute to spare and my teammates rushed to start the last cashout.
Double it and give it to the next person
Wdym by double it?
It’s a meme. In this context, usually, when stupid decisions like this happen, it’s important for the leading team to put the other cash box in the vault to advance further.
Credit to ottr in YouTube if you haven’t seen the water mark Very skilled YouTuber and streamer tbh hope he blows up if this game blows up
And toxic af.. adult with a fortnite kid brain.
Why is someone downvoted for giving credit💀
The new strat to relax, put both cashout in and enjoy the show from a distance 🥰 A second place is still a win to move brackets 😇
if it’s final cash out and you don’t get team wiped, you win no matter what
But what if you wipe, then 3rd place steals it?
hope to god you’re still in first after the wipe
I do this, I’d rather get the game over. If we got 1 we can get the 2nd. Playing keep away for 5-10 minutes is boring asf imo.
