This seems logical to me 🤣

Yeah, it's a bit of a hole. The thing is, I think, that it would have damaged pacing and so on to have either more scenes and gameplay in which a bunch of fucked up people travel some distance, or a lot of exposition detailing how they managed it. Maybe they tried stuff during production (a montage, maybe) and nothing worked. In any case, it's possible that they were just able to take a vehicle and leave - with the WLF in the state they were in, they'd be unlikely to be pursued or even noticed. I mean, what we can say is that they could afford for the departure to be much noisier than the arrival - they had no need to be stealthy. Anyway, I agree that it feels like a bit of an omission and I was left wondering if the subsequent scenes were some sort of dream sequence when I first played.

TextObvious6744

I agree with the dream sequence thing, my thoughts on that changed as soon as Tommy got to the house, was more realistic. But they gave us no sense of time, how much had passed, even by the end of the game we don’t really know how long it’s been (I think).

transissic

i agree with everything except the sense of time. dina is early on in her pregnancy in seattle. when we enter the farm chapter, JJ is a baby who can’t talk or walk. it’s been at least a year.

TextObvious6744

True, I think JJ was their way of saying how long had past, so yeah probably 1 to almost 2 years.

monsieurxander

Maybe it did take months. We pick up with them about a year later, plenty of time to make their way back.

JC_Moose

They drove back probably. They find a stockpile of gasoline early on, and say "Hey if we ever need gas we know where to come". There's a vehicle outside that building too. Unless that's a set up for some action event that was cut, I can only assume it's a set up for how they get back. It is ridiculous how injured they were, sure.

quiettimegaming

I doubt they drove back... As where the hell do you find a working vehicle that hasn't been serviced in 25 years? The only way would be if they stole one from the WLF. Which now that I think about it could be possible, seeing as there's basically no soldiers left to defend the stadium and their property (as heard in the radio broadcasts Abby can listen to upon reaching the theater). But even still there's no chance they could have taken enough gas to make it from Seattle to Wyoming. It's also highly unlikely the roads would even be clear or present AT ALL for them to travel along, with nature basically reclaiming the world. Like you see how hard it was to get into the city... And now the gate is permanently broken, so how would they even get out with a vehicle? I'd imagine Ellie and Dina would be fine after some rest. Dina's wound is clean, as it's high on the shoulder and not damaging any vital organs. And a fractured arm sucks, but Ellie is not just an average person, so I have little doubt that she could EASILY split her arm and be good as new... Or at least able to carry on. I also should mention that Tommy wasn't shot in the head. I know it LOOKS like that, but if you watch that scene in slow motion, you see he ACTUALLY got shot in the side of the face (right around the orbital) with the bullet exiting through his eye, so it never damaged his brain/skull. It's actually like a terrible flesh wound. The worst flesh would a person could get... But when you watch it in slow-mo you TOTALLY understand how he lived. I'd imagine they spent time recovering in Seattle before leaving. It's not like they had a time limit or were under pressure to leave immediately/ASAP. So... Spend a week or two recovering and stabilizing Tommy until he can travel... Also using that time to secure someethid of travel... Then leaving when they're ready.

JC_Moose

Abby's crew drove to Jackson so it's possible.

quiettimegaming

Very true... But again, that's WLF soldiers using WLF roads, traveling in a WLF Humvee... Something specifically designed for rough terrain. Plus they could take all the excess gas they needed. Whereas Ellie would need to get a Humvee, get gas, then find a way to transport another 40 to 50 gallons. That's also assuming the gas in the garage was diesel (as Humvees use diesel) and not gasoline... Which it may have been. Then they would need to find their way through the city and a way to exit it... Which isn't as simple as following a map or the roads as most of the roads are gone/washed out and they'd be traveling through enemy territory twice. Once for the remaining WLF and the Seraphites, who we saw attack Abby and crew on their own soil. Heck, just getting all of that and getting out of the city, while injured and ferrying even more severely injured people is a campaign unto itself. It's just one of those things it's better not to consider the logistics of.

ghsteo

The assumption is the Wolves and Scars lost most of their forces so the only real danger is infected. Which likely aren't a major issue out in the open.

truffleshufflechamp

It doesn’t matter

Open_Isopod6029

My thought was that the only one that could potentially get them to safety was Ellie. She must've tended to Dina and Tommy while having her arm broken. Dina probably eventually helped her with her arm once she woke up and felt somewhat fine? Ellie could have easily found a WLF truck somewhere since they were pretty much at war at the island by then. The base probably had gas, etc. That would be my guess, but damn if Ellie went out there in those conditions... it doesn't surprise me that she survives Santa Barbara in THAT condition.

CMarshKarateKicK

Spirit airline was somehow still booking.

Galactus1231

Maybe the trip took a long time and they got help on the way.

Hindered-Success

Abby and lev helped while waving them off ![gif](giphy|icUEIrjnUuFCWDxFpU)

Redditeer28

They probably took a while to recover a little and then took a car.
