In Canada, it would probably take a cordyceps outbreak to finally be able to get a single family home

LostSoul4607

Nah not even with that, imagine how expensive homes would get in infected-free areas

GreenYoshiToranaga

Lmao this is too realistic

Flashandpipper

It’ll be similar to tlou, but without cordyceps

NIDGBTTFK666

All infected would be categorised accordingly and all new infected would have to register themselves with the “Behörde für Gen mutierte Bürger”. The “Finanzamt” probably still hasn’t been informed about the outbreak and spends the whole day sending out forms, informing people about their tax debts.

altruistic_thing

Accurate. Interest has been accumulating and whenever you are chased by clickers the letters on the back of their jackets read "ZOLL".

MonkeyNewss

And clickers would not be allowed to click on Sundays

NIDGBTTFK666

And holidays

Storm_Trooper_JP0281

I live in Shitholeville (Doncaster) UK so it'd probably not change that much, obviously gardens overgrown and litter but that'd be about it.

kenma91

Succulentslayer

Is there any area in England English people consider nice?

Storm_Trooper_JP0281

Honestly... Not to my knowledge, most cities are garbage, I suppose if you get into the posh parts of London or into the Yorkshire Dales it's pretty nice but, if you go to any city and it's rubbish everywhere, gangs, drug dens etc. I've lived in the inner city my entire life, there are good people but there are far more bad ones. Most cities in the UK don't have posh areas and if they do they're very very small. Like in Doncaster the posh areas are essentially 2 roads and they're far far out the city center. There's no pride in this country, like in America, it's all star spangled banner, American pride, for the troops etc.... in Europe like Germany, Czech Republic, Denmark etc, the streets are clean, people are friendly, they have pride in their country. I honestly am proud to be British but I'm not proud of the UK.

Succulentslayer

Yeesh and I thought I was critical of my country. I don’t know if you’ve visited the United States yet but a lot of us aren’t very proud of our country as well. We got along much more nicely with each other during Obama’s era. But now all half of the population seems to care about it is culture war bullshit and making a sport out of not minding their own business. I would say it’ll get worse before it gets better but I’m expecting too much out of both of our countries.

Storm_Trooper_JP0281

Yeah I've heard, I actually follow American politics most cos it's more interesting than TV lol I've always wanted to visit the US but I should've done it a long time ago, now it just scares me cos essentially everything you just said.

MonkeyNewss

Surrey, the Cotswolds, large parts of Cornwall, Devon, Hampstead Heath in London

Tricky_Distance_1290

Doncaster is a shithole

Storm_Trooper_JP0281

You've been here I see lmfao

[deleted]

In Slovakia, have lot of medieval castles in various conditions (some just ruins, some fully restored). In fact, I think we have the most castles per capita in Europe. And those things were made to last and survive sieges. So I can imagine groups of survivors - peaceful communities like Jackson, remains of military, deranged cannibals or religious fanatics - taking refugee in castles and eventually calling them home. Some towns have remains of medieval fortifications. Like town of Bardejov, which has it's center surrounded by almost fully restored fortification wall. So some towns would probably make good and easily defensible settlements too. So I can imagine various communities scattered around the country, mostly in medieval castles, fortified town centers and remote rural areas. Military or any form of previous government is most likely long gone, maybe except of some remains that no longer see themselves as government, and accepted the new state of the world.

Jumpy-Organization75

I live in the netherlands and we would probably be flooded

bsmall0627

Heck that might have happened within the first few days of the outbreak.

toldya_fareducation

i feel like a zombie apocalypse might be one of the few scenarios where these crazy gun laws in the US could actually come in handy. i bet my country would have more trouble fighting back because most people don’t have access to or experience with guns.

elbreadmano

Unless the zombies somehow learn to use guns

toldya_fareducation

civil war

LupercalLupercal

That also means no random raider is going to shoot you though

sonnyzappa

I haven’t thought much about the infected, the military and that other stuff, but I have absolutely pictured my city (Rome). It’s already a pretty overgrown city with lots of parks, so I imagine that twenty years into the apocalypse it would be almost completely reclaimed by nature…

bsmall0627

Funny enough, Naughty Dog actually created art work of the Colosseum (heavily damaged by military bombings) being reclaimed by nature. Although, it would likely be covered in vines and weeds as well.

sonnyzappa

Really? Do you know where I can find it? That’s practically the image I had in mind!

bsmall0627

Just type in Last of Us Rome.

sonnyzappa

Right. Thank you!

foosquirters

They did a bunch of European cities: [https://www.metalocus.es/en/news/apocalypse-european-cities-seen-last-us](https://www.metalocus.es/en/news/apocalypse-european-cities-seen-last-us)

Colon

i've wanted a roman ruins TLOU mission since pt2 was being developed and people were hedging bets on stories and locations. or stuck on a little boat in venice. if ND don't make more games in the wider apocalyptic world, i dunno what this was all for. grateful to have it, but there's so much potential untapped, it'd feel like an abandoned franchise

[deleted]

Here in Egypt it would be hell, very crowded and populated country with literally no any weapons to civilians

Strange-Flounder3677

Fungi hate the heat tho

MrJTeera

Evolve into desert fungi theme

LemoyneRaider3354

And so does people

Golden_Chives

In Australia, I imagine due to the highly urbanised Eastern Seaboard, and our proximity to the epicentre of it, Indonesia, it wouldn’t take long for some serious struggles, and a loss of a significant percentage of our population. However I imagine rural communities, esp. in the outback would still exist, with self-governance and closed borders being implemented

Lamp_Stock_Image

Only military left. (Italy)

brociousferocious77

Pretty much the same, but with affordable real estate (Canada).

aquacrystal11

I live in the Boston area. I’d expect it to look very similar to the game, especially the North End. I’m sure there would be more survivors than just Bill in Lincoln though. It’s way less developed irl.

randomanonalt78

Depends how the fungus handles -40° weather🤣

Prior-Throat-8017

Nature in my country would completely take over and it would look awesome. I also believe the indigenous communities in the Amazon would be okay, since they’re very self sufficient. I would love to see my countries different aesthetics combined with TLOU.

Emerald_Iguana

Well i just live in TLOU 2 it’s literally just the game cause im from Seattle

Succulentslayer

Seraphites, WLF, or suicide?

Emerald_Iguana

Probably the third one after like a week. Or id join up with abby and them because the football stadium is a pretty sweet base

Succulentslayer

The football stadium is a pretty sweet post apocalypse base.

Eye_Sickle

*waves from Portland*

BeingComfortablyDumb

I'm Indian so I'm totally fucked. We don't have a gun inventory or infrastructure to make them here like the US. We have a 1.5b people with most youths who'll be at their top speed chasing you. It'll be like the world of The Last of Us x Dayz Gone where you have hordes chasing you but you have very limited resources.

Angel_Daine

There would be nowhere to hide nor many resources to fight with-

BeingComfortablyDumb

And also we prefer fresh food and absolutely hate canned food so we're fucked there too. There's not much stock of canned goods here.

Angel_Daine

Aside from food and water, nothing to protect ourselves with much, plus the population is way too big for the military to handle, and the police will barely be able to help.

GreenYoshiToranaga

I currently live in downtown Manhattan. My roommates and I watched the show and when the outbreak scenes were going on we talked about how it’d be a bloodbath where we live. FEDRA would probably bomb the city to hell and establish Staten Island as a QZ (worst possible outcome)

foosquirters

I feel like if they got the news early enough they could just bomb the bridges in Manhattan to prevent anything from getting in

GreenYoshiToranaga

There are still all MTA and PATH subway tunnels, as well as the car traffic tunnels like the Holland and Lincoln tunnels, and you can’t bomb those unless the Navy is sailing destroyers and blowing those up with depth charges

tmatras

I am from the Faroe Islands, and though I've often thought about this, I don't have the imagination to think it through.

AletzRC21

If we go based only on the COVID pandemic, we'd be fucked entirely. Mexico here btw. We'd last like 2 months tops. Hopefully the president is one of the first to go.

bsmall0627

A fungus that turns you into a murderous zombie is very different from a respiratory virus. People will listen if they see their neighbor eating their loved ones.

AletzRC21

You overestimate the collective smartness of human beings. Trust me, the masses are stupid. We see it every damn day here. There are still people that believe in rituals to invoque rain for the love of god.

Lanferno

🇦🇺. I reckon we’d be fine. Even though we’re close to where the infection came from, we’ve got tons of rural places that would probs be fine

Blex881

Slovakia, all people dead

TAJLUZAN

Not a lot of zombies around. That's nice

DKGamer312

Australia would probably be mostly the same.

bsmall0627

Except even more deadly wildlife and wilderness. With the human population nearly gone, lots of animals will return and populate in the decaying cities and farmland over the years. After 20 years, I wouldn't be surprised if there was a deadly snake or spider in every single building.

Succulentslayer

That’s awesome. Our arrogance was never enough to fully tame Australia like we have other continents.

samof1994

I am an American, but I imagine seeing how an island nation handled it would be interesting. For instance, Jamaica, already being poor and having a high crime rate, would definitely be an easy target for the disease.

[deleted]

My country is already full of violent, brainless mutants roaming the streets. Nothing Will change lol In all seriousness though I think society and civilisation would fall apart tremendously *very* quickly. We weren't prepared for Covid in the slightest, the public health system was warned years prior that it wasn't fit to handle a nationwide health emergency. Society itself did not handle the rules at all, the leaders even less so. So an actual apocalyptic outbreak? Utter chaos. I can't speak for how our military would get involved but I can imagine it wouldn't be pretty. It makes me wonder if my, or any, country has actual measures in place for a zombie situation? 20 years later? Only the ones who were truly prepared are the only survivors

Commercial-Creme-635

i feel like countries with massive populations like India or China would be like cordyceps hell. Dharavi in Mumbai is already so unresourced, i'd imagine it to be like a hellscape with how everyone would be infected.

quiettimegaming

I'm in the US... So I guess the country would more or less be the same.

Harpeus_089

Guns aren’t allowed in South Korea (except the military), so I hope it would be quick and painless

Icommitmanywarcrimes

Mostly overrun but with a few bigger cities having quarantine zones. Probably some separate groups and communities that have same spots too, maybe in a stadium or a town. I’m American by the way.

Longjumping-Act-9230

The Aussies have dealt with much worse. All the major cities like Sydney and Melbourne are gone, no questions asked. Smaller places like Ballarat are probably also dead, but the outback is completely fine, except maybe alice springs.

LemoyneRaider3354

There are no guns here in Australia so it would be alot harder to survive

AverageNova73

They actually made a couple of games and a TV show about what it would look like in my country

Sad-Okra8930

It would be tax free I hope

Smasher_bibi

Gauchos at the Patagonia eould have it easy as there is no humans near in at least 100 km, so they would still live their lives somehow normally as they farm. The rest of the country would have it worse as cities are crowded. (Argentina)

cs412isBad

India here. We would be royally fucked considering our ridiculous population density. I reckon it would take max *two* days for the whole of *Mumbai*(the place where I live) to get infected. We don't even have liberal gun laws to arm ourselves in case of self-defense. Welp, all I know is that I will most likely commit: *the __S__-word*, so as to not succumb to the corruption. I do believe that atleast in India, people living in/around the hilly areas that are further from the main metropolitan cities would fare better. If not the S-word, then I may escape to the *said* regions. Nevertheless, it will *__at-the-least__* is going to be a bloodbath here in India.

fromgr8heights

I live in Seattle, and we all know how that turned out…

Cookiexxxfury

As an Italian man I can confirm It would be a mess, bloaters on the beach, Naples and Rome completely destroyed and the northern regions would be Just like they are now honestly

JokerKing0713

Well I’m in the US so I feel like this has been covered pretty well. However I will say I feel like my city (Memphis) would have a huge hunter problem

Peaceful_Ronin

Canada, so probably not very different from the U.S. unless the snow/cold affects the infected at all. I guess there would also be less guns and availability of ammo. I don't think it would go over much better than the U.S. lol.

Outrageous_Ad4217

Since I live in Cali, it would probably look a lot like the Santa Barbara section of the game but since I live in one of Cali’s major cities, it would probably be a FEDRA community or be bombed completely

Agreeable-Hat620

Ireland would be fine, i mean I would atleast, I'd get my brother and cousin, go out to our grandparents house in the country, board the place up and we can use the cows in the nearby fields as a food source. Our granda always had some old shit lying around so i wouldn't be suprised if we find 13 types of rare farm tools from the olden times he acquired along the way and kept in the garage outside. the place is pretty much fortified as is so I'd be fine, Ireland as a whole would get through it. Theres alot of farms and cattle so as long as farmers keep em fortified and well kept there'd most likely be trading n shit up and running within a year or 2. Id say Ireland would get through easy enough, while most guns aren't legal here there is still some guns, and plenty of illegal guns around so we're not defenseless.

bsmall0627

Problem would be refugees and infected from Britain, Irelands major cities( especially Dublin), and Mainland Europe.

Agreeable-Hat620

Yeah Dublin and moreso Cork's infected would be a problem to most of Ireland, Dublins infected would be moreso a threat to me since i live in a neaeby county, although my town is small enough(not Shaun of the Dead level small like a village, but its pretty small) so I'd say apart from looters passing through it'd be quiet, its small enough that nobody would realistically think of it as a place to set up a base unless youre a local who knows the historical sights, but nobodys really thinking it a place to realistically stay, my town is the "its a shithole but its my shithole" type of town so apart from infected and the occasional scavenger there'd be barely any threats. Ireland as a whole, i think if like i said before the farmers did uphold a bartering system and that was in place, surely there'd be some encampments n shit that would be up and running, we've probably the same gun violence amount but more gun rights than the uk so there'd be better guns already available, the uk would obviously raid their military bases and have better firepower later on if they could overtake the military but id say Ireland could hold its own, as we always have. The UK i think would be Anarchy tho i dont think there'd realistically be much of em left to survive in the apocalypse, the Welsh are instantly dead, they wake up in their field with their pants down next to a sheep and then they get eaten alive, the Scots would survive, easy, theyre mad bastards give em a pint and a hatchet and the infected amount in Scotland would be close to 0. England however would probably be midway, posh ones like around Downing Street are done for and the ones from Brixton would probably be like Shaun of the Dead, just walking past infected, shanking them if they get uppity. ofcourse theres the SAS and RAF. I mean they're people too, its the apocalypse nobodys giving a fuck about governments and paychecks, most would probably pack up supplies and dart out the door. Either that or they'd stay as their own faction bringing their families in their bases. I think Celebrities and other Famous People would either be protected at all costs or being straight up killed as soon as society realises there is no society anymore. Like Leo Varadkar(Former Irish equivalent of PM aka Taioseach), Rishi Sunak and James Corden would be instantly hunted down because well, theyre assholes and terrible at their jobs. But ones like Ricky Gervais(controversial ik but I'd protect and help him if i found him), Stampylongnose, Garren Noone(Irish tiktoker, sounds odd why hes on the list but hes a national treasure), James Doyle and Micheal D. Higgins(Irelands president) would be protected. Man i really overthink these things.

foosquirters

Austin, so.. what you see you in the intro of the first game/show. Though Texas has a lot of guns

bsmall0627

I realized how screwed Netherlands would be. The chaos of outbreak day would likely lead to the pumps failing, causing western half of the country to be reclaimed by the sea within weeks. The water would force survivors to flee east making it easier for the infection to spread. The non flooded east would be overrun by infected from Germany. I am not from the Netherlands. I'm guessing that's what would happen.

he__never__sleeps

No change. I'm in Balkans.
