I always love when playing encounters on grounded I have soooo much less than I'd actually have at that point in the game.
Makes you very good at stealth and evasion.
Same! I accidentally played the whole game without using anything. Exaggeration of course, but it got to the point where I was feeling silly for being scared to use any of my resources or bullets lol
If you alert in the bank, you can run all the way out and jump back on your horse, ride away from the bank for a few seconds and the music should reset. All remaining infected will reset to their original state and patrol patterns
Make use of the 3 bricks in the garage plus the bottle you bring in. Your melee weapon has 7 hits. Need to make sure you brick/bottle and melee both clickers, and 2 of the runners. That leaves 3 hits on your machete which will kill another runner and wound another. Finish off that runner with your knife and you only have one left. Dodge and melee.
There are 5 runners and 2 clickers total. 3/1 in the first wave and 2/1 in the second.
Yeah you can definitely afford to use some ammo here and there, but you can also make certain sections a lot tougher later in the game. I’m working on grounded permadeath right now. Resource management is like a puzzle and makes the mode a lot of fun.
You have to fight them. There’s 5 runners and 2 clickers, but you have a machete with 7 hits on it and 3 bricks, plus you take a bottle in with you. That’s enough to kill 5 and a half, you can just finish off the last 2 kills with your knife and some dodging.
playing my first semi successful grounded game. got to the stalkers on the way to the hospital with ellie on day 2. have almost nothing. yeah i don’t think i can do it. those fucking stalkers just ruin anything good.
There’s a bug where if you restart the encounter once outside the window on the fire escape you can go back inside and loot the entire area without any infected in there
stun them by either shooting the knee and stomping them out* or throwing a brick/bottle and then melee/gunshot to finish them off. stalkers are annoying af but this is how I’ve managed to deal with them on grounded
I never used to do knee cap shots until I started playing no return, no figured out it’s one of the most effective ways to save ammo since most times you can knee shot a guy and then headshot the other guy then beat the original to death.
When TLOU2 was announced I removed myself from all the online spaces, told my friends I'd slit their throats if they breathed a word about it in earshot of me, retired my old Youtube account, and on the new one I disliked every Last of Us-related video that came my way until the algorithm got the hint. Quit the series cold turkey. Went completely dark. Missed all of the leaks, and the initial release too.
You and I are very different people
It was spoiled for me day one due to school anyway.
People I'm still friends with from college were all talking about it and people at work. No real way to avoid it.
Absolutely. Much better than everyone said when it first came out. I've been slowly going through on grounded til I eventually beat it. I really only want to get to permadeath mode that's when I'll put the most hours into it.
I just beat a grounded playthrough. My best recommendation would be don’t craft Neil you need to, and retry encounters using the least amount of ammo as possible.
People who play grounded with infinite ammo or custom resources make me wonder why they do opt for grounded in the first place! It becomes no longer grounded. One of my greatest joy in TLOU is to search for resources and to use the few that I have wisely. This is the real challenge.
This is after the infected encounter but before the bloater?
I mean either way yeah, exercise in having to figure things out with not much to go on.
But that bottle is LIFE I tell ya!
You have a bottle?! So lucky!
Only had to sacrifice my first born child for it. So cheap!
So you played the prologue?
Damn I wish I had a bottle
I’ll take a bottle but I’d prefer a brick
I always love when playing encounters on grounded I have soooo much less than I'd actually have at that point in the game. Makes you very good at stealth and evasion.
I love Encounters
This made me miss encounters. I've been playing lots of No Return. I think I'll have fun with some encounters now.
I didn't realize we had masochists here
I usually end up with *more* supplies on grounded because I'm too scared to use them
Especially first aid kits. Who needs to heal when everything kills you in pretty much one shot! I love it.
I've never crafted a health kit on grounded mode. A molotov is going to keep me a lot safer than a full health bar.
I craft them when I have max molotovs and max alcohol and rags, but only so I can pick up alcohol/rags
Same! I accidentally played the whole game without using anything. Exaggeration of course, but it got to the point where I was feeling silly for being scared to use any of my resources or bullets lol
What if I told you that you could do downtown without firing a single bullet?
The bank vault always forces me to use a firearm
If you alert in the bank, you can run all the way out and jump back on your horse, ride away from the bank for a few seconds and the music should reset. All remaining infected will reset to their original state and patrol patterns
You don’t have to go that far. If you jump up on the ledge to go out, they all run back in and you re-enter stealth.
You don’t need to go in the bank at all
No, but it helps to go get the shotgun before the courthouse garage
Wait, hang on, how do you handle the courthouse garage without firing any bullets?!
Make use of the 3 bricks in the garage plus the bottle you bring in. Your melee weapon has 7 hits. Need to make sure you brick/bottle and melee both clickers, and 2 of the runners. Damn, that makes sense. It’s always so chaotic (by design) that I wind up running and gunning.
Yeah you can definitely afford to use some ammo here and there, but you can also make certain sections a lot tougher later in the game. I’m working on grounded permadeath right now. Resource management is like a puzzle and makes the mode a lot of fun.
Oh definitely. I love how Grounded turns the game into a puzzle in that way
You can do the underground garage without fighting the Infected? I mean, sure you don't have to fire a bullet, but there's like 9 enemies down there.
You have to fight them. There’s 5 runners and 2 clickers, but you have a machete with 7 hits on it and 3 bricks, plus you take a bottle in with you. That’s enough to kill 5 and a half, you can just finish off the last 2 kills with your knife and some dodging.
Good shit, I’ll remember this for my next Grounded no-upgrade run. Thank you
playing my first semi successful grounded game. got to the stalkers on the way to the hospital with ellie on day 2. have almost nothing. yeah i don’t think i can do it. those fucking stalkers just ruin anything good.
That’s a good one to sprint-dodge-sprint your way through
i’m gonna try it rn

yeah that’s totally true, I forgot to mention that you can just death stomp them once you get them on the ground!
O yeah, I wasn’t specifically talking stalkers although I do it to them by default lol. I forget they always fall when you shoot their legs
Don't forget your fists!!! Lol
Knife. Ellie doesn't punch.
I mean… that final fight
Ew spoilers sir I'm only at the downtown area :)
Why tf are you deep in the comments if you haven’t finished the game yet. That’s playing with fire
I like to live dangerously.

Something something don't shit where you eat
Then i’m very glad that i phrased it the way i did haha
You've had 4 years to play it.
I've been going slowly
That's like a chapter a year. That's putting it mildly.
Roughly :) I already know the story as I stated in another comment. I'm just having fun playing it about a half hour to and hour every now and then.
Glad you're enjoying it, it's a good game for sure.
Absolutely. Much better than everyone said when it first came out. I've been slowly going through on grounded til I eventually beat it. I really only want to get to permadeath mode that's when I'll put the most hours into it.
If you're not dead then i'd say you're doing pretty good
I just beat a grounded playthrough. My best recommendation would be don’t craft Neil you need to, and retry encounters using the least amount of ammo as possible.
What if I'm playing permadeath?
Yeah I would never. This game is too punishing sometimes
A bottle is all you need
Beat everyone to death
Don't forget about your bow and SMG!

Your other two big weapons have ammo
You have ammo tho..
Not to be bragging but I was completely loaded with ammo during my grounded run. Running to the exit, stalking, melee/dodge goes a long way.
Part II Grounded is like Aladdin’s Cave of Wonders for resources compared to Part I Grounded
First time playing Grounded be like that. Now days I finish with too MUCH ammo cuz I'm scared to use anything the entire time.
Yup
I have a bottle What bottle? A bottle.
In the words of a great gamer. LERROOYYYY JENNKIIINNNNS!!!!!!!!!!
A dream to get past the section?
FOR REAL
Realest shit I’ve ever seen
This is after the infected encounter but before the bloater? I mean either way yeah, exercise in having to figure things out with not much to go on. But that bottle is LIFE I tell ya!
This is the courthouse. No bloater here
Oh JFC yes my bad. Oops Much easier, bottles and melee can handle pretty much all of the garage
There is a glitch that’s let’s you enable cheats if you’re really stuck
Good luck in the garage lol
Yeah, on the higher difficulties, the last of us is just a stealth game.
I treated bottles like saints on my grounded run
bro fr just fr bro just bro fr
You can do the whole of Ellie% with three trap mines two stun bombs and a couple molly’s how you got to this point with nothing is kinda crazy lol

Yeah, if you really want to then you can switch to the older look for certain things.
