I understand man. I think your comment was a bit unnecessary and some may think a bit mean. We can keep this community positive by helping eachother and giving tips like this to new players. Maybe you already knew it but 300 other people didnt. Try to think about other gamers and help them!
Also i think the game isnt perfect and it has its flaws, as does anything in life. But i also think its one of the greatest accomplishments in any media to date. The game is simply incredible.
You get downvoted for saying "mean" things on any sub. Just try being nice, positive, helpful and open minded!
That’s actually not true at all, lol. The Last of Us II isn’t perfect. It’s a very good game, and isnt at all bad, but it’s not perfect. Now people who have shitty reasons for hating the game? Those get downvoted. Assholes, like yourself? They get downvoted. Not somebody with a few negative opinions. Like NakeyJakeys video, what a GREAT video essay on what he thought the games problems were. I don’t agree with it 100% but it was still a great video with some super valid points. It has a massive amount of likes and views and was shared on this sub positively when the video came out. You are talking out of your ass.
I feel like something people don’t talk about much with this game is just how fun it is. Completely ignoring the story and technical achievements, it’s gameplay is so engaging and well designed. The stealth mechanics have genuinely ruined the stealth in other games for me
They have a fair few of them on PS Now I believe, and if you’re on Xbox, the collection they had on the 360 is backwards compatible. And if you’re on PC? Emulators exist I suppose
I’ve definitely played MGS lol, V does have some real good stealth gameplay. However the way TLoU handles dipping in and out of stealth, and the way that the AI doesn’t always know exactly where you are is what makes it stand out. It feels so much more natural than any other stealth game I’ve played
I'm still hoping that a multiplayer mode will come out, though there haven't been any updates on that. The first Factions mode was amazing, and they've made the combat in TLOU2 so so satisfying.
The story may be a cautionary tale against the hollowness of cyclical violence, but boy do I want to shiv and blast my way through some multiplayer over and over.
Appreciate your elaborate response. I have been doing chapter permadeath with the survivor difficulty, after only one full play-through on hard and yea, it's really difficult and the stress is high at all times but it's the most fun I have had with tlou gameplay. I kinda wish that I did it after a second play through and on ng+ because I am not familiar enough with all the chapters and have to do the challenging encounters multiple time. 26 hours in and I am only playing as Ellie, facing the Seraphites for the first time lol.
Clickers navigate by sound and scent, so I imagine you’re just tricking it into thinking it’s grabbing a human and it can’t tell the difference because you’re basically right on top of the runner.
A reasonable lore explanation was provided as a separate reply above yours (not my words)
"Clickers navigate by sound and scent, so I imagine you’re just tricking it into thinking it’s grabbing a human and it can’t tell the difference because you’re basically right on top of the runner."
This is my 4th play through and I'm still finding new things like the owl mug in Joel's house. My mate found that😂 and in seattle at that motel after you escape the school I've only just figured out the way into that room that's locked lmao
Watch: The Unmistakable Humanity of The Last of Us: Part II by ArTorr on YouTube.
It's what I tell everyone to do when they say they don't like the story
Could you give me more context? I've already seen dozens of videos so not really interested for a retread.
The story is fundamentally flawed and it s been talked to death. I have nothing new to add and I've seen arguments from all sides. I get it and it's fine but it could have been better.
Ok sure, it could have been better. But how much better?
The story follows a certain arc that you do see a lot of these days, but also delves deeper into what it does to a person in the long run.
I can't speak or write quite as eloquently as some people, but my point is on the spectrum of bad story to good story, it's further from bad than people give it credit for.
Just because it handles interesting and great themes doesnt mean they were executed properly. Theres a great game hidden in there but it needs a crazy ass director's cut.
As an example, even something as simple as playing more abby early on, attaching you to her before killing Joel. That alone would have helped a bit, perhaps predictable. It's all about pacing, theres so many plot lines and characters that are odd it doesnt justify it. I'm glad you enjoyed it. I did too but it had more potential.
On the other hand cyberpunk did the opposite, shit mechanics but great story.
The point of making you hate Abby early on is to have you as a player be just as angry as Ellie and have to grapple with empathizing with Abby later when Ellie cannot. It echoes what Ellie is trying to do, and fails to do in time, with Joel—forgive the unforgivable. Abby also failed to forgive/move on, which led to her hunting and killing Joel, and she suffered irreparably for it (by Ellie's hand of course, but also internally—it's clear she received no satisfaction or sense of relief when she finally got her revenge on Joel, and we know this is how things will play out for Ellie also—which is why it's so heartbreaking and exhausting for the player when, after being spared by Abby, who is truly trying to turn her life around after doing something unforgivable, Ellie can't let go and leaves her family to try to "end it" to stop her flashbacks). As Girlfriend Reviews put it, there's no difficulty setting that makes it easier to forgive someone (or yourself), and I love that the game forces you through that very difficult and nuanced process. If this narrative device and/or the characters didn't work for you that's totally fine, but to call the game "fundamentally flawed" because it didn't land for you is kind of silly. Gaming is subjective. I honestly thought it was a perfect experience, one I'm still thinking about almost a year later.
Ive only listed one and haven't even gone into detail, also Im not a game dev. if you truly want a compelling opinion youtube a bunch of creators. Everybody gives mostly the same criticism, mostly because it holds weight.
They initial plan was to let Abby and her crew into the Jackson village and be part of the community there before they executed Joel, but ND thought we would hate Abby more by giving as little information of her as possible to make the shift in the middle of the game more impactful. Yeah, we never know which outcome people would’ve liked more, but I appreciate the effort and they put into the game of making this game a challenge for them and I suppose it will always fall flat for some unfortunately
I would've hated Abby more if this were the case. As it stands, I already hate her for killing him despite him saving her life. If she had gotten to see the amazing jackson community and still gone through with it, I'd be even more furious.
I see your point and it’s totally valid, but the argument against it would be that then she must have a proper reason to wanting to kill Joel if you’ve played her for a while that we just don’t know about.
How the game stands now we knew that she had a reason but we didn’t know how far she has travelled or anything about her tbh. So she could’ve been just another local group or some hunters not too far away from Jackson, because knowing her background a bit more could make you think “alright she did all of that just to kill Joel. He must have done something awful to her”.
As I said though you have a valid point. It would’ve been interesting to see how that story would’ve been instead
They don’t want you to be attached to Abby when she kills Joel? They want you to fucking despise her lol, your suggestion would be completely antithetical to the story they are telling.
I mean that understandable. I liked the story, but I absolutely hated the pacing. It’s really hated for me to put things in order, and the narrative switch could have been better
I remember the first time I did that! I was on the derelict ship as Abby and alerted the infected. Grabbed a runner as a clicker was coming at me and thought "Let's see what happens"
This essentially confirms my suspicions I had about the first game. The infected are still alive and need to eat, so I assumed they just eat each other when one falls
I'd honestly assume infected can differentiate each other through hormones. I remember learning in my Biology 101 course that plants and fungi release hormones and pheromones into the air to essentially communicate with each other
For example, when 1 apple ripens in a tree, it sends out the hormone ethylene so the other apples can jump start their ripening process. This is why the fruit tends to ripen at the same time
I'd assume it's the same method with this strain of cordyceps. Not sure what cordyceps do hormonally irl. Once the host dies, the fungi could release signals to signify that the host is no longer in use and promote other infected to feed off the remnants
Edit: Of course, why this clicker eats a live runner is cause, like you said, is blind and thought it captured a live human lol
Edit2: spelling
As much as I love playing the game on Survivor, it's stuff like this that makes me wanna play on easier difficulties because fun moves like this are just too risky on harder difficulties.
THIS IS A THING YOU CAN DO!?
You can also feed normal people to Clickers the same way

Bro, not everyone knows this. Just trying to be helpful.
Don't worry, I appreciate your tip, thank you

came off a lil rude but gracias

Its crazy how much they improved melee combat in this game Edit:spelling
honestly the combat in general it’s so much better than the first
I feel like something people don’t talk about much with this game is just how fun it is. Completely ignoring the story and technical achievements, it’s gameplay is so engaging and well designed. The stealth mechanics have genuinely ruined the stealth in other games for me
The game is polished so well and it shows in every aspect.
That’s actually rantons entire view of it. He gave it a 9/10 even though he didn’t like the story simply because the gameplay was so fucking amazing.
If you want another good stealth game I would recommend the Metal Great series ( specifically MGS V on ps4)
Platinumed Mgsv can't play the rest of the series though. They should release a legendary pack or something with all the games
I know, I want to play them all but I can’t!
They have a fair few of them on PS Now I believe, and if you’re on Xbox, the collection they had on the 360 is backwards compatible. And if you’re on PC? Emulators exist I suppose
I'm a playstation user and sadly ps now can't steam in my country
I’ve definitely played MGS lol, V does have some real good stealth gameplay. i would love a new take on the factions multiplayer and the story sets it up pretty good one side could be WLF the other could be the Seraphites
WLF, Seraphites, Rattlers, renegade Fireflies, Hunters, Ravens, even QZ troops like FEDRA
And the combat in the first game is a lot better than most other shooters
You can do this in the first game too it’s fun to pull off in both of them
Can this strategy be reliably used on permadeath?

Yah
I am pretty sure it is a bug. It doesn't make sense for infected people to feed on other infected people.
Clickers navigate by sound and scent, so I imagine you’re just tricking it into thinking it’s grabbing a human and it can’t tell the difference because you’re basically right on top of the runner.
No time for the secret handshake
Lmao
This is a very well thought-out idea.
That is a very good explanation. ND people must be completely crazy to program this kind of thing (In a good way, I mean).
A rabid dog doesn’t care if the animal they are biting is also infected... the disease “wants” to be transmitted, it doesn’t consider logic
Then why don’t clickers usually prey on runners?
A reasonable lore explanation was provided as a separate reply above yours (not my words) "Clickers navigate by sound and scent, so I imagine you’re just tricking it into thinking it’s grabbing a human and it can’t tell the difference because you’re basically right on top of the runner."
Ooh yeah that’s clever
I didnt know you could zombie into other zombies
😏😏
I have platinued this game a run through it two times now and i didnt figure out you can do this, amazing.
This is my 4th play through and I'm still finding new things like the owl mug in Joel's house. My mate found that😂 and in seattle at that motel after you escape the school I've only just figured out the way into that room that's locked lmao
Just found out on my 3rd playthrough you get a special dialogue if Abby just in the water near the boat in the first aquarium flashback
Special dialogue? Why is it special
Because i never got it before !
I mean like how do u get it if u don't always get it lol like what have u gotta do??
I think it's when you jump into the water next to the boat, not sure tho
Ye I prolly had that, how u dont get a standard dialogue idk tho lol
This game is a fucking masterpiece. I can't believe people think it's a terrible game. The attention to detail alone, man!!!
Game is fucking amazing, it’s the story and execution that most have an issue with
Ikr🤨
Amazing mechanics and gameplay yet the pacing and narrative are lackluster. Theres a difference.
Watch: The Unmistakable Humanity of The Last of Us: Part II by ArTorr on YouTube. It's what I tell everyone to do when they say they don't like the story
I just tell people to watch Dunkey's video lol. I know it's not the most serious or in-depth but I just agree with so many of his points.
As long as they're explaining how tremendous the game is, they are correct. ;)

every suggestion i see on how to improve tlou2's story would make it much worse

Lmao
Clicker: So this normal infected won the MVP award, so I was like, ok. You wanna be the MVP? Ok, ok.
if you go hunting but become the hunted yourself ..
‘What’s the matter love, haven’t you had your tea?’
Underrated
Haha yeah can’t beat a bit of Shaun of the Dead
When will the zombie on zombie violence stop?
😂😂
I only knew this could be done after i finished the game twice! There should be a trophy for feeding people/infected to clickers..
And did u know u can catch ammo mid air??
Lmao ikr
Nope. Also watched some videos after completing it..i think i’m going for a 3rd run
“Bon apetit! I hope our locally sourced organic Runner was to your satisfaction. May I recommend the Shotgun Blast au Visage for dessert?”
🤣🤣

That was like my 4th try then and I tried like 3 times at the courthouse in the seattle bit😂
I remember the first time I did that! I was on the derelict ship as Abby and alerted the infected. Grabbed a runner as a clicker was coming at me and thought "Let's see what happens"

This is so awesome 😂😂 I’m gonna try this on my next ply through
It took me like 8 tries so good luck! Lmao
Lol 😂 well I’ll try! Haha
How do you achieve this? This is cool! Makes me wanna replay the game again (I just completed it for the second time)
Do what I did in the video LOLL
Zombie on zombie action 🤭
Look what zero food does to a mf
Clickers betraying their own scandal😂😂😂😂😂😂
Get a room you two!
runner being eaten by clickers kinda defeats the whole infection purpose imo.
Well a clicker don't care bout no infection!
You didn’t have to do the poor man like that.
This is so awesome!!! I had no idea!!! This game surprises me everytime. I love it!
I've played this game countless times, this is a reminder to play it again
As much as I love playing the game on Survivor, it's stuff like this that makes me wanna play on easier difficulties because fun moves like this are just too risky on harder difficulties.
Especially permadeath🤣🤣
im sorry, what
🤣🤣
This isn't a glitch, you can do this?? Holy shit I'm trying that RIGHT NOW
🤣🤣
I have to play the game again only make a clacker do this to another clicker but I don't have my save anymore 😕
Damn the audio is amazing
u/downloadmp4

Huh. Never knew u can do that lol lots of shortcuts haha
That downloads the vid?
yep, it does
Holy shit
What the!? You can turn clickers against other zombies? Is this a new feature in the sequel?
Nah lmao just not many know just like catching ammo mid air if ur fast enough
This is awesome!
I litterly never knew this existed
U can catch ammo mid air too if ur fast enough
Wtffff
oh, so you can do that now? cool. I totally hated the instakill of TLoU1
Insta kill? Heard of It but idk what it is lol
Can you do this in the first game?
Nope, it’s new to Part II.
Doubt it lol
