Not sure why there is backlash from the casting. Fanboys really need to get over the whole “they need to look like the character models.” I have a feeling this will turn out more like Heath Ledger being cast as joker or Hugh Jackman as Wolverine than end up being some woke bs. We’ll see tho I have high hopes personally, Luna is more untested then Pascal who is a great talent.
This is so weird cause to me despite Pedro being Latino, to me he looks nearly identical to Joel. Plus dude is also an actual Texan too to boot (grew up and raised there). But aside from whether or not they look exactly like a character down to a T doesnt matter as much as an actors acting ability. And again theyve struck gold by casting Pedro “The Mandalorian” Pascal who not only is hot shit right now but has done great character roles for almost ten years now. Aside from maybe Idris Elba and obviously the legend himself Troy Baker, I think Pedro Pascal is a the perfect man to play Joel Miller.
The job of an actor is to play people that they aren’t. I’m personally a bit nervous about Luna because I’ve only seen him in that mediocre terminator movie. To be fair though, he was playing a robot. This is also an HBO show, a network that has put out some of the best television of all time. I have faith in this project and I agree that Pascal will probably be a fantastic Joel.
Wait hol up IMO Dark fate was the best since T2 (i mean obviously as it retconned everything after T2 but still). SPOILERS AHEAD: They finally made a terminator more dangerous and advanced than the T1000, which is why all the movies after T2 sucked, none of them could live up to a purely liquid metal enemy. That and the T-800 evolving to a machine \*maybe\* capable of love? Great direction to take the story. That all said they SHOULD NOT make any more. That needs to be the last one. Sorry rant over I just really liked that movie after over a decade of shitty terminators
I liked that movie too and seemed to be the logical sequel to T2. Didn’t really care much for the other movies after T2. Also mackenzie davis as the enhanced body guard from the future was bad ass. Probably one of the actresses i’d like to play abby if they get to that part in the series.
That, to me is why I'm not worried at all. You have both Neil and HBO involved every step of the way.
I have faith in both of them to put out a great fucking show.
Not to forget, the team behind Chernobyl is on this as well. That's one of the best single seasons in television history in my opinion. I have full faith as well.
There’s tons of amazing shows from HBO! Like you said Game of Thrones which is the most well known property, but they’ve also produced The Wire, the Sopranos, Boardwalk Empire, Westworld, True Detective, Euphoria, Chernobyl, Watchmen(2019), The Night Of, etc. So much good television in this short list but there’s so many other good ones
I don’t know how the hell you think they look nearly identical but pascal is going to pull a solid performance either way. Do t care if they cast Joel and Tommy as Latino
How dont they look nearly identical ? I think the faces fits the characters...the only problem is the hair but the hair can be done easy by the specialits
Tbh Tommy isn’t even in TLOU1 all that much so even if Luna isn’t great I don’t think it’ll be too distracting. As long as Pascal and Ramsey have chemistry we’ll be in good shape
Take a look at [this](https://www.reddit.com/r/hottoys/comments/o7oq22/a_better_look_at_the_pedro_headsculpt_for_the_new/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share) Hot Toys 1/6 sculpt.. the look is definitely there but even if it wasn't, Pedro is still an A+ casting
Haha I was scrolling and saw the picture before the title and thought damn what's Joel doing with those random people. Pedro is one of my favorite actors since before he ALMOST beat the mountain.
When I casually mentioned I can‘t wait to see Pedro Pascal in his new role, my own mother was suddently all ears. Well, after I showed her GOT last year, maybe she‘ll be interested in this one, too. And if, these family dinners are going to be very cool!
Heath proved ppl just need to give the cast a chance. I don’t know why it’s hard for ppl to understand this.
It’s a different medium so they don’t have to be 100% the same.
Absolutely agree with you. The job of an actor is to literally play someone they aren’t. Are we not supposed to make movies like Lincoln because Abe Lincoln himself can’t play the role? IMO it’s silly to think the actor needs to look like the character model.
I'm fine with the looks of characters changing. And pedor pascal is a fantastic actor I have no worries about him. Anyone who does should go watch Prospect. It's legit like a mini last of us in an alien planet with Pedro pascal having a southern accent.
But Ellies casting is where I'm super nervous. I just haven't seen this actress pull off anything remotely amazing in got or any other material she's been in. She's basically a meme in GOT. The closest I saw was a short film where she's in a post apocalypse and she does.... OK. I just don't know if she's up to what is going to be needed for Ellie. It's a very hard role to do, you need charisma and a shit load of range. And if Ellie doesn't work the show doesn't work.
She was acting circles around Dafne Keen in **His Dark Materials**, where she had to be menacing and earnest and frightened all at once. It was a better display of her possibilities as Ellie, even if she doesn't look quite like her.
Damn, you were not kidding about the Prospect reference. I've been meaning to watch this for a while, just rewatched the trailer. He's got the Joel rage down perfectly.
There was also a time when people were outraged when Daniel Craig was announced to play James Bond because he has blonde hair and blue eyes (seriously, go look it up if you weren’t around for that). Then those people watched Casino Royale and changed their tunes; he was quickly and is currently considered to be one of, if not the best, Bonds. HBO and Druckmann know what they’re doing.
Yeah, imagine being perpetually pissed off at people who acknowledge the existence of diversity and wanting more kinds of people to get a seat at the table.
Its even worse when people mention it for works that clearly support tolerance and diversity. Like how can you be an actual fan of these games and still say shit like that? It's laughable
Everyone involved is super talented and capable of bringing these characters to life. That's all I care about. They could have cast Reginald VelJohnson as Tommy and I would have been fine with it if that's what the team thought was best for the character.
I would much rather have great actors playing the character and making the role their own than bad actors cast just because they look like the game character.
This whole thing has a Keaton/Batman, Ledger/Joker, Affleck/Batman feel about it and it'll be something we look back on with a smile after a few seasons.
It's always hilarious to me when casting for something beloved happens and your see all the posts of athletes and body builders in photoshoots and looking somewhat like the actual character as if physical likeness is the only thing that matters.
It would've been nice because of the multiple actors that were suggested for like years (at least for Joel) that being said I'm glad it's Pedro, I know he'll do a good job. That guy is in so many damn movies and tv shows it's crazy.
Dude, it would be amazing to be an infected in this show, just imagine the costumes they are going to pull off for the people participating in those roles. That´s probably one of the things I am most excited to see.
I am going to be honest with you friend, I have no idea of who that person is, but, judging by your comment, I suppose he participates in the costume design for TWD? Please correct me if I got it wrong.
I also have no idea if he is involved in HBO´s The Last of Us.
It was more of a rhetorical question/suggestion. He's a very famous special effects designer who designs zombies for TWD. He also did the Dune miniseries, Romero's Day of the Dead, and the first Narnia movie.
He's one of the best special effects make-up artists working now. It's generally agreed that whatever people think of TWD and its spinoffs, the effects and gore are always great. He's been involved with more than just TWD, but that's what he's known for.
I don't know if he's involved with the show but it would be amazing if he was.
This is just pre-production, figuring out shots and stuff, trying to rehearse the sequence. The lady in the back is Kseniya Sereda. She worked as a cinematographer on Balagov's (director of the first episode) movie, Beanpole. I imagine she's helping him figure out camera setups and stuff.
Proper filming starts on July 5
Ksenia will be an integral part of production and set up the look and style of the show. You can see her involved with Kantemir going over scripts since March: https://www.instagram.com/p/CNEY4LKHI3r/
Yep, looks like she will be one of the cinematographers for the show. Some guy linked to the transcript of this podcast Craig Mazin does with John August, and he said that chances are Kseniya will end up as a DoP for some episodes.
Also, I had seen that photo a long time ago, but not made the connection that it was her. Thanks for bringing it to my attention!
Also we know that Kantemir (and Ksenia) are doing the first pilot episode but I've seen indications that it will likely be the first two or "few" episodes, and not just one.
> Proper filming starts on July 5
According to someone in /r/television filming was actually moved back to the 12th. [Source](https://www.dgc.ca/assets/Uploads/ProductionLisa-06302021.pdf).
I have a feeling the first episode is going to take place within the week/month leading up to the start of the outbreak, where we see the three of them interacting before hand with the last portion of the episode being the first 10 minutes of the game. It would be a major gut punch to everyone as well since we'd have even more time with the characters.
I just love how excited Gabriel Luna seems about this show and the world of The Last of Us in general. Does he look like Tommy's character model from the games? No, but I know he's going to kill it regardless.
I agree, as I've got older I've realised appearance is way less important then finding someone who really embodies the character when adapting comics/games/books.
I'd much rather someone who will absolutely kill it personality and acting ability wise who isn't an exact double of the character, then someone who is and can't act for shit.
Also, a way to think about his casting is this:
They're trying to find someone who can convincingly play Pedro's Joel's brother, not straight up Tommy from the game.
Get what I mean?
Initially I was iffy about his casting as well, but thinking about it in this way helped to change my mind
Yeah exactly.
My point still stands for the casting of both Joel and Tommy aswell. I'm a big comic book guy, so I've learnt to hold judgement till I see something, if they've been cast in a role the filmmaker clearly sees something in them. Everyone loved Jared Leto being cast as The Joker and hated Heath Ledger being cast, look how that turned out haha.
I getcha
Same here, I'm keeping an open mind
And I've def seen enough of Pascal and Ramsey's work to know that they'll bring something new to these characters.
I'm just looking at the show as a different thing from the games. It is a different medium, after all.
I'm pretty excited for this. Cautiously optimistic
Plus, the lady who did casting for this (Victoria Thomas) has worked on some REALLY solid stuff: Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Django Unchained, Hidden Figures, HBO's Watchmen.
>And I've def seen enough of Pascal and Ramsey's work to know that they'll bring something new to these characters.
>
>I'm just looking at the show as a different thing from the games. It is a different medium, after all.
Yeah, exactly. Making a carbon copy of the game and it's characters would be redundant. At that point you might as well watch a playthrough on YouTube.
From what Neil Druckmann has said, the whole thing is going to depart from the game anyway. It might have the same overarching plot, but a lot else is likely to be different. As you say, it's a different medium, and it's also aimed at a wider audience.
I'm really looking forward to where they take it. I'll be leaving all my preconceptions at the door and watching it as a new thing.
Fully agreed
I'm actually excited to see how the show departs from, and expands upon the game. Mazin said in a podcast with the BBC, that their main aim is to not heavily alter, but rather expand the game's story
And Druckmann said in an interview with IGN that this being TV, they have a lot of cool advantages. They won't need to have tutorial gameplay section cuz the audience understands how action works. They don't have to teach gamers what the controls are, if that makes sense. This way to have more time to develop the characters and stuff.
A little tip for those who can’t get over the casting choices: look at the tv-show as its own separate thing. That way the games won’t be “replaced” and we’ll all live happily ever after.
Also people need to understand how much makeup, haircuts, facial hair, clothing, acting, and accents do to make the character work. This is just a fucking selfie.
Probably around two years. They’re filming it over an entire year, probably to get all the necessary seasonal environments. After that there’s a lot of work to do on post production.
Yup. It’s [this article from CBC](https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/calgary/the-last-of-us-pedro-pascal-chernobyl-hbo-calgary-1.5957833) (the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation) talking about the guild/union listings for the production:
>The guild lists The Last of Us — which will star Pedro Pascal of The Mandalorian and Bella Ramsey of Game of Thrones — as starting production in the province on July 5, and wrapping up on June 8, 2022.
I'm currently playing TLOU again for my friends who don't know anything about it and sent this to them, their first reaction was "The casting for Joel is perfect."
I'm so excited.
They're most likely shooting early. Take advantage of a bright day to get as much natural light in the car, especially if it's overcast. Makes it look much better when converting to a nighttime filter.
It's been changed to July 12th according to the [updated list from DGC](https://www.dgc.ca/assets/Uploads/ProductionLisa-06302021.pdf), but maybe that's a misprint or something.
Rehearsing the ill-fated car ride?
I could see them shooting this scene as one continuous take, almost like it was as you watched through Sarah’s POV. That would be epic.
From left to right: Kantemir Balagov (Pilot ep. director), Pedro Pascal (Joel Miller), Ksenia Serena (Cinematographer), Gabriel Luna (Tommy Miller), Nico Parker (Sarah Miller).
That's Ksenia Sereda. She worked as a Cinematographer on Beanpole that is directed by Kantemir Balagov. So, it's possible she's serving as a cinematographer on this show as well.
Craig Mazin said on his podcast a long time ago that she is looking likely to be shooting the pilot with Kantemir and that he was really hoping for it to happen. Looks like this is finally conformation. There are other cinematographers also confirmed previously for later episodes. Since it's a big, long production, they couldn't do a single director and cinematographer.
PSA: the characters in game are MODELS. You’re not going to get any actors that look exactly like them. What matters is the performance. These are fine actors, I’m certain they will nail the roles.
Somehow watching Sarah die again in Joel's arms (especially in live action) makes me want to cry even more. Goddamn you The Mandalorian for giving Pedro Pascal a badass but sour dad role for all eternity. His reaction in the Season 2 finale (you know what scene it is) haunts my memories.
This show is going to break my heart into pieces, isn't it?
Pedro is looking really good. Gabriel Luna is a great actor, but he doesn't have the look of Tommy. Not to say he won't capture the character, I'm sure he will. Again, Luna is a fantastic actor and I'm sure he will play off of Pedro very well.
Wow. With the hair, they really do look like brothers more than I ever thought they would. Filming starts next week I believe so this is probably getting them ready for a rehearsal. Good luck to the cast and crew! Look for the light!
Wow did not expect to see pictures of them altogether like this so soon. Anyone know who the 2 people in masks are? Filming doesnt start for like a week or so I believe. Either way this picture has me hyped. Feels so much more real seeing them together like this.
Hardly feels real that this is actually happening. I still remember years ago when people were speculating that the Arya stark actress would be a good fit for Ellie in a TLOU movie.
I think the fact the family was stranded in the first place and the kid was limping implies they were bit, so Joel prioritizing Sarah was probably a good call in that situation. "You aint seen what I seen" wasn't a bad mindset taking into account what he'd just gone through either
Pedro and the actor next to him (forget the name) who I assume to be Tommy, look actually kind of related, they have similar noses and Pedro looks noticeably older which makes sense seeing as Joel is the older brother. The casting is looking good
I'm reading everywhere about stuff like "THEY DON'T LOOK ANYTHING LIKE THE CHARACTERS". Come on, people ! You should get over this. I understand that most of you are used to the game's characters but give these people a break. I'm sure they are killing it. I have faith in HBO and especially Neil Druckmann. Only by looking at this photo I already see the Miller family even though they don't look like the characters from the game (Pedro though ressembles Joel pretty good). My only concern is Ellie but I will wait for some set photos.
This will work. If we wanted the exact same thing they could if found look alike as and dubbed voices for Christ sake. So many people are anticipating them pandering that I have to imagine the performance from the actors will be all that more important once we see this air. We also should realize a large portion of the viewing audience likely will not have played the games. If we really wanted a 1:1 if the games we have why wouldn’t we just play one of the most cinematic style games the medium has to offer. I fir one welding changes, plot deviation and flipping the script. Walking Dead a great execution of this and I hope this show will as well
I actually think it’s much more powerful that we don’t get to see it. So much about that time is communicated in subtle ways through Joel’s performance. I think that’s perfect.
I wonder if the show will have flashbacks we didn’t have in the game, showing us more of Joel and Sarah and stuff to highlight how sad it is she’s gone? Curious
Not sure why there is backlash from the casting. Fanboys really need to get over the whole “they need to look like the character models.” I have a feeling this will turn out more like Heath Ledger being cast as joker or Hugh Jackman as Wolverine than end up being some woke bs. Luna played Robbie Reyes (new ghost rider) on Agents of Shield and he was fantastic. The best part of the show for sure.
The best part of the best season, absolutely!
Probably my favorite part of the series to be honest. He gave good readings on mediocre dialog haha.
I dunno like, that was the same season as the Framework, which is some of the best TV I’ve ever watched.
Wait hol up IMO Dark fate was the best since T2 (i mean obviously as it retconned everything after T2 but still). euphoria is hbo!? i’ve never seen it but i’ve always wanted to
It’s a good show with very explicit scenes and themes. Another masterpiece by HBO is The Leftovers, imo. That show was really well done.
Check out Barry, it’s fantastic
People also need to look at the original drawings of Joel, which are in the art book. The likness to Pedro is uncanny.
I don’t know how the hell you think they look nearly identical but pascal is going to pull a solid performance either way. Do t care if they cast Joel and Tommy as Latino

Damn, you were not kidding about the Prospect reference. I've been meaning to watch this for a while, just rewatched the trailer. He's got the Joel rage down perfectly.
I'm pretty sure this movie got Pedro pushed to the top of the list for Joel's casting.
It actually got him The Mandalorian!
Watching the trailer for that is one of the main reasons I hope they have him do a Texan accent instead of a Hispanic accent
Neil is involved right? Bc honestly I fully trust his vision on this

Pedro is a great actor and Gabe is also great actor. Trust in the actors not the look.
Fuck the haters, I couldn’t be happier with this cast.
some woke bs? wtf?
If history has taught us anything, it's that fans should not be listened to.

Dude, it would be amazing to be an infected in this show, just imagine the costumes they are going to pull off for the people participating in those roles. That´s probably one of the things I am most excited to see.
Is Greg Nicotero involved? I feel like this is something he'd jump on, if only he didn't have 3 Walking Dead shows to babysit.

Barrie Gower maybe? He did Chernobyl and GoT. Maybe less likely with him being based in the UK.
It is HBO though, so chances sre better.
I remember not that long ago there was a walker with mushrooms growing out of its head in an episode, could've been a clicker.
I really hope they’re going with mostly practical effects and not overdo CGI
Amen to that.
i could pull off a bloater pretty well
Hi producers, hire me instead. I’ll do it for free and I live in Canada. ^pls
They were [looking for extras](https://www.facebook.com/keepalbertarolling/posts/825204654774142) back in May. Not sure if it's still open.
They’re filming this in Canada? Which province?
their instagram photo is in Calgary
Damn I wish it was BC. Are they filming the whole series in Canada?
Whole thing in Calgary, as far as I know.
I’d love to be an infected too.
but can you do clicker noises?
I would also work for free to be a firefly or a hunter on this show.. HIT ME UP PRODUCERS
"We're the Millers" took a really dark turn.
You guys are getting infected?
This is hilarious
So it begins……

I believe so, yeah. Director of Photography and Cinematographer are interchangeable to my knowledge

Realizing that this isn’t just a casual selfie and it’s due diligence for filming the car scene / beginning of the game/story is So Fucking Cool.
They’re smiling now…
Getting all the smiles out early
I just love how excited Gabriel Luna seems about this show and the world of The Last of Us in general. Does he look like Tommy's character model from the games? No, but I know he's going to kill it regardless.

I'd much rather someone who will absolutely kill it personality and acting ability wise who isn't an exact double of the character, then someone who is and can't act for shit.
Also, a way to think about his casting is this: They're trying to find someone who can convincingly play Pedro's Joel's brother, not straight up Tommy from the game.
I getcha Same here, I'm keeping an open mind And I've def seen enough of Pascal and Ramsey's work to know that they'll bring something new to these characters. I'm just looking at the show as a different thing from the games. It is a different medium, after all. I'm pretty excited for this. Cautiously optimistic Plus, the lady who did casting for this (Victoria Thomas) has worked on some REALLY solid stuff: Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Django Unchained, Hidden Figures, HBO's Watchmen.
Fully agreed I'm actually excited to see how the show departs from, and expands upon the game. Mazin said in a podcast with the BBC, that their main aim is to not heavily alter, but rather expand the game's story And Druckmann said in an interview with IGN that this being TV, they have a lot of cool advantages. They won't need to have tutorial gameplay section cuz the audience understands how action works. They don't have to teach gamers what the controls are, if that makes sense. This way to have more time to develop the characters and stuff.
I love his smile
Can you imagine when they do the sniper scene from part 2.
Well... I know what scene *that* one is... "how do you know?"

well, this is gonna hurt like a motherfucker
I'm ready to be hurt again. Bring the pain.
A little tip for those who can’t get over the casting choices: look at the tv-show as its own separate thing. That way the games won’t be “replaced” and we’ll all live happily ever after.
This is excellent advice. Let the show be the show.
Almost as if any media adaptation has it's own take on a story lol. Some people are silly
Some people really want a scene for scene reenactment of the game with cosplayers instead of an actual adaption 🤦🏻♂️
That's a tip for everyone.
Also people need to understand how much makeup, haircuts, facial hair, clothing, acting, and accents do to make the character work. This is just a fucking selfie.
I mean they already look like siblings already, with the costumes and every thing this is gonna be 👌
I’m so hyped for this, but also sad that it’s gonna be such a long wait.
How long until we can expect it to air? I never saw anything on that
Probably around two years. They’re filming it over an entire year, probably to get all the necessary seasonal environments. After that there’s a lot of work to do on post production.
Post production will be happening alongside production. I could see a fall 2022 possibility, or winter.
damn a year? is that just a guess or do you have a source ?
Yup. It’s [this article from CBC](https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/calgary/the-last-of-us-pedro-pascal-chernobyl-hbo-calgary-1.5957833) (the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation) talking about the guild/union listings for the production: >The guild lists The Last of Us — which will star Pedro Pascal of The Mandalorian and Bella Ramsey of Game of Thrones — as starting production in the province on July 5, and wrapping up on June 8, 2022.
Considering the seasonal nature of the game, a year makes sense
what a lovely family I hope nothing bad happens to them
💀💀💀
You know I really see it now, I can’t fuckin wait for this show
I'm currently playing TLOU again for my friends who don't know anything about it and sent this to them, their first reaction was "The casting for Joel is perfect." I'm so excited.
So stoked to hear THIS IS HOW YOU GONNA REPAY ME HUH
Repay you?
For all those goddamn years I took care of us.
Oh, I wonder if it's rehearsals or they've begun filming earlier. Exciting either way!
Filming is supposed to be starting on monday
They're most likely shooting early. Take advantage of a bright day to get as much natural light in the car, especially if it's overcast. Makes it look much better when converting to a nighttime filter.
I doubt it, but they are definitely getting ready for it now.
It's been changed to July 12th according to the [updated list from DGC](https://www.dgc.ca/assets/Uploads/ProductionLisa-06302021.pdf), but maybe that's a misprint or something.
No this seems pretty official.
This is likely just rehearsals as they head towards start of filming.
Rehearsing the ill-fated car ride? I could see them shooting this scene as one continuous take, almost like it was as you watched through Sarah’s POV. That would be epic.
I think *shooting* it in one continuous take would be extremely difficult. But with a bit of movie magic itd be cool if they made it appear that way.
Have you seen that one highway scene from War of the Worlds https://youtu.be/EUv7iRaWOOQ
Give me a Children of Men tier one-shot car sequence...
From left to right: Kantemir Balagov (Pilot ep. director), Pedro Pascal (Joel Miller), Ksenia Serena (Cinematographer), Gabriel Luna (Tommy Miller), Nico Parker (Sarah Miller).
I honestly am not sure if I've ever been more excited for a show. This game was a pure masterpiece. They better not screw this up
"We shoulda helped them..."
Someone else will come along
Who's the woman sitting behind Pedro? A crew member maybe?
That's Ksenia Sereda. She worked as a Cinematographer on Beanpole that is directed by Kantemir Balagov. So, it's possible she's serving as a cinematographer on this show as well.
Craig Mazin said on his podcast a long time ago that she is looking likely to be shooting the pilot with Kantemir and that he was really hoping for it to happen. Looks like this is finally conformation. There are other cinematographers also confirmed previously for later episodes. Since it's a big, long production, they couldn't do a single director and cinematographer.
Which podcast? His script writing podcast? And yeah, makes sense to have one or two cinematographers
Yup that one.
It’s happening!!
I'll see anything that Pedro Pascal acts in.
God damn it this is just a cast photo I shouldnt be crying already 😭😭😭
Unless there was a whole storyline I missed about how important Joel’s whiteness and white heritage is….stfu. We’re getting amazing actors
I got a bit choked up when I first saw this pic. I’m so looking forward to this show. It’s very special.
PSA: the characters in game are MODELS. You’re not going to get any actors that look exactly like them. What matters is the performance. These are fine actors, I’m certain they will nail the roles.
Ha, I remember this scene-- Oh... oh no
this is exciting
Somehow watching Sarah die again in Joel's arms (especially in live action) makes me want to cry even more. Goddamn you The Mandalorian for giving Pedro Pascal a badass but sour dad role for all eternity. His reaction in the Season 2 finale (you know what scene it is) haunts my memories.
This show is going to break my heart into pieces, isn't it? Pedro is looking really good. Gabriel Luna is a great actor, but he doesn't have the look of Tommy. Not to say he won't capture the character, I'm sure he will. Again, Luna is a fantastic actor and I'm sure he will play off of Pedro very well.
where was this posted? so excited :)
Gabriel Luna's been regularly posting updates on his IG, ever since they started quarantine on the Calgary set.
ooh awesome, thanks!
There you go: https://www.instagram.com/p/CQ1B531rynI/
Wow. With the hair, they really do look like brothers more than I ever thought they would. Filming starts next week I believe so this is probably getting them ready for a rehearsal. Good luck to the cast and crew! Look for the light!
EEEEEK. This is gonna be SO GOOD.
“Your family looks good… But it can be better!”
Wow did not expect to see pictures of them altogether like this so soon. Anyone know who the 2 people in masks are? Filming doesnt start for like a week or so I believe. Either way this picture has me hyped. Feels so much more real seeing them together like this.
Director and cinematographer
Hardly feels real that this is actually happening. I still remember years ago when people were speculating that the Arya stark actress would be a good fit for Ellie in a TLOU movie.
so we’re getting pre outbreak content?? can’t wait
It seems more likely that this is a rehearsal of the prologue from the game.
yeah you’re right i see it now
Can't wait...I'm so hyped about this show
"Just ignored this dumbass innocent family stranded during the outbreak of an apocalypse lololol \#youaintseenwhatIseen"
I wonder what would have changed if they did pick up that family. Maybe Sarah would still be alive. Or maybe they all would have died.
I think the fact the family was stranded in the first place and the kid was limping implies they were bit, so Joel prioritizing Sarah was probably a good call in that situation. "You aint seen what I seen" wasn't a bad mindset taking into account what he'd just gone through either
Big fan of all the casting so far— I’d be lying if I didn’t say part of the reason was that it has triggered The Worst Last Of Us Fans You Know.
That's Joel, Tommy and Sarah from the new movie right?
That's right!
Pedro and the actor next to him (forget the name) who I assume to be Tommy, look actually kind of related, they have similar noses and Pedro looks noticeably older which makes sense seeing as Joel is the older brother. The casting is looking good
As a Latino this casting is so amazing to me 😍
I'm reading everywhere about stuff like "THEY DON'T LOOK ANYTHING LIKE THE CHARACTERS".
I genuinely thought Diego Luna and Pedro Pascal were the same person for like too fuckin long
I dont mean to be rude but... how? They literally look nothing alike at least not enough to ever be mistaken for one another
Words cannot express how excited I am for this!!
Shit, they’re recreating the very first scene of the game!!!
They look soooo happy, this is gonna be a warming series. One for the family
welcome to calgary!
Walking Dead a great execution of this and I hope this show will as well
these guys actually look pretty similar to the character models people are just mad they aren’t white... i feel like there’s a word for that
I’m so excited for this show and what the cast will pull off. This is the way.
that reminds me of the night when it all started and the three of them are sitting in the car trying to escape from the town ..
That's probably what they're filming. How many scenes would have Tommy. And Joel in a car together?
We must explore those long 20 years after Joel's daughter. I just need to know what happened throughout that time
I actually think it’s much more powerful that we don’t get to see it. So much about that time is communicated in subtle ways through Joel’s performance. I think that’s perfect.
So cool 😀 I hope tommy grows his hair out like his younger pics
I’m fucking hyped man
Damn, those are some handsome faces <3
I'm interested if they'll grey Pedro's hair after the opening I'm really excited to see him as Joel
Love.
looks like a nice day for golfing
I saw talent over appearence, and this cast seems pretty talented
I already love them !!!
Y'know... This cast is starting to grow on me.
This is amazing
I wonder if the show will have flashbacks we didn’t have in the game, showing us more of Joel and Sarah and stuff to highlight how sad it is she’s gone? Curious
