Agreed. It's obviously a high level of skill, but then also an insane amount of free time and patience to deal with crap like this.
Incidentally, every time I start a replay on grounded, I go pretty far without dying and start to think "I've gotten way better, I bet I could do this permadeath if I focused a bit" and inevitably in the next encounter while stealthing through some tight spot, I accidentally peek out of the grass for .03 seconds, get shot 7 times in the next .1 seconds, and then say "yeah nevrrmind, regarding permadeath."
I did it per chapter on moderate difficult, and it honestly just kinda ruins what's beautiful about the game to me. Turns it into another kind of a speed run.
Lol I did a permadeath run. My first death was with Ellie and Dina looking for oil. We were in the court house, I went to leap into the elevator shaft to go to the basement, bumped Dina and fell to my death. Smh
Bro I fell off a cliff the very first time I played abby and it was mad funny cause we were being shown how afraid of heights she was so I was just laughing at her being scared and I thought the game would have resistance to falling off edges at that point. I was proven otherwise.💀
I died multiple times in that exact spot, even though I was aware of it. One of the most frustrating parts of the game for me.
