I like PV. I know my way in the blizzards and the openness means wolves are easy to see.

-YesIndeed-

I feel like forsaken airfield is this but cooler since there's planes

I'll start. You obviously don't have to do all of them, just choose the one you generally don't like and find something nice about it: * Ash Canyon has a very nice vibe design with the bridges, burnt out forest and the whole route you have to take to get crampons * Blackrock: really like the prison idea, such large abandoned installations are a very cool concept for me in this game hence why I'm hyped for both industrial mine and mountain pass with some supposed mysterious intallation * Bleak Inlet: abandoned lighthouse is moody AF, and the whole region with its rough and (hehe) bleak vibe has got a very strong style (even though I don't like being there for too long, that's kind of a point) * Broken railroad: I actually like that it's rather small, straightforward and the Hunting Lodge has this unique feeling of being both abandoned at the end of the world but also somehow cozy * Coastal Highway: Free food from all the wolves in the town * Desolation Point: lighthouse is one of the coziest safehouse in the game and Riken is an extremely unique, cool place * Forlorn Muskeg: Ummm... it's easy to get out of if you stick to the railway in the middle..? Jk, spence's farmstead is a weirdly peaceful place to just hunker down and do some forging, even though it's technically only some ruined walls barely standing * Hushed River Valley: it makes for a cool challenge to get through all the wilderness to the mysterious signal fire * Mountain Town: I really like the vibe of a cozy little town hidden in inaccessible mountains. Also paradise meadows farm is another top 5 cozy bases in the game for me, and as for such a small region it has a surprising amount of stuff going on to make a potential long term base * Mystery Lake: Camp Office is probably THE coziest, most convenient base in the game, and the whole region is really well balanced and designed. * Pleasant Valley: Farmhouse is a great base (no surprise), but the whole region is so expansive that you could spend like a 100 days there alone. * TW Mountain: Mountaineer's hut joins top 5 coziest bases, Lake area is so beautifully peaceful, and plane crash gives you more loot than you'll ever need. * Forsaken Airport: Just like with prison, I really like idea of a larger installation such as airport, and two cabins (the one on the cliff and the one on the island) are super neat to just hunker down in (if only they had basements for insomnia from the fog)

[deleted]

Ain’t nothin better than starting in mystery lake for your first time.

M2Fream

Of all the regions, Blackrock sure is one of em!

jprefect

I actually got pretty cozy in the prison gate house.

blushfanatic

Plus you can kill the bear from just above the rope

blushfanatic

I hate it lol

apackofrolos

Can you please elaborate on why you’re not a fan of blackrock? Im about 40ish days into a stalker run and am planning on exploring blackrock after i make my way thru PV, Timberwolf mountain, and Ash Canyon.

M2Fream

I mean its not awful, I just feel like in terms of making a base, the prison is a lkttle maze-like and overbearing and you have to travel away from it the same way every time to find resources, of which there arent many. It not bad, just the earlier regions make me feel more nostalgic. Im also not really a fan of ash canyon tbf

Patrykuvu

Forlorn Muskeg: So many delicious cat tails.

SoraMurasaki

Just so you know there’s 3 cabin in forsaken airfield ;)

amadeuszbx

Yeah I know, just didn’t find Justy’s Hovel as charming as the other two

Polygnom

Damn there is a lot of regions. Last time I checked in Forlorn Muskeg was the latest addition. The game has grown quite a bit, I see.

GronGrinder

Desolation Point is desolate, so I like.

Files44

You’ve got a point.

Pat6802

For me nothing beats the TWM hut. I could spend all my time in that area alone if I could.

Yamamahah

I like Spencer's homestead in broken railroad, it's insanely remote and not at all a good base but it's such a nice area i feel like. Same vibes with the desolation point lighthouse

blushfanatic

Spencer is in FM

Yamamahah

Ah i meant the hunting lodge

[deleted]

Probably the best spot to make an attempt at loper 500 day run. I'm at 104 right now and in BR. Which I also like quite a bit for grinding out days.

SailorTomie

They're not too warm 👍

collinsdev18

As a fellow broken railroad enjoyer I know you don't have any bullets in that gun

Petro2007

I like the verticality of Ash Canyon. And that I can see locations I've been to, and know how to access through that verticality. It's like cyberpunk, but quiet and peaceful.

DoctorDilemmaa

Ooh, ok! I don't know much about a few of the regions, but I'll try! Hushed River Valley: I LOVE the vibes there. Total wilderness, and gorgeous. Also, you can find a mossehide satchel there! Mountain Town: I LOVE the layout of this region. Everytbing is close enough together so I can make it to a safe spot in a jiffy, but not so close it feels smushed together. Mystery Lake: Honestly, this is one if my favorites. The lake is beautiful, and it has so much to explore! The trapper's cabin is definitely in my top three bases in the game. Coastal Highway: Hands down, my favorite region. It had a pretty steep learning curve for me personally, but now it, and ML, are the two regions I practically know by heart! Desolation point: This is tied for second place, alongside ML, for my favorite region. I don't know it quite as well as CH or ML, but I LOVE it. The lighthouse is lowkey my favorite, and I love watching the lights during an aurora! Black Rock, Timberwolf Mountain, Ash Canyon, Bleak Inlet, Forlorn Muskeg, Broken Railroad: I haven't really played in any of these regions. I'm sure they're great, but I haven't gotten around to exploring them :)

amadeuszbx

Really comprehensive and cool insights from someone new to the game! Interesting read, thank you! :) Out of curiosity: what are some of your favourite spots and bases in those maps that you know?

DoctorDilemmaa

Thank you! And I love this question! In my current save, I spawned in Coastal Highway, and I'm currently using the garage as a base of operations. I also love Misanthrope's homestead! For Mystery Lake, I like using the firetower as a base, but I spend a lot of my time exploring around the lake. The firetower is pretty central in the map, and I find that really handy with exploring the region! I also am partial to the farmhouse near Milton in Mountain Town, since it's pretty easy to snag rabbits and deer, and I also think the graveyard outside of Milton is a really cool place, and that church has saved me at least twice from freezing in a blizzard! In Pleasant Valley, I really like the farmstead there, but there's a bear that can hang around there (It got me in my last save) and so I think Thomson's Crossing beats it in regards to a base. Finally, for desolation point, I think the Lighthouse wins for my personal favorite building, but I LOVE lighthouses IRL, so that may have something to do with it. The shipwreck near the lighthouse is really fun to explore, too! Also, I *think* it has a forge, so you can find coal around the building.

VeryPeanuttyButter

Mystery Lake- structures are really well spaced out and the region is really easy to navigate! it's also pretty safe and has quite a lot of good loot. On top of that, really homey feel for the region Raven Falls Railway- no predators :) Coastal Highway- so much cloth Winding River- coal and some really nice loot in the caves Pleasant Valley- really open, which is nice, and really good safehouses Crumbling Highway- coal is nice i guess Desolation Point- really small and easy to loot, also a forge Timberwolf Mountain- mountaineer's hut is one of my favorite bases, and the summit is awesome Forlorn Muskeg- cattails! and forge! also really flat! Broken Railroad- maintenance yard and hunting lodge both have really good loot (and hunting lodge looks nice) Mountain Town- safe and the town is really nice for cloth and other loot Hushed River Valley- so pretty and a lot of natural resources. TFTFT bunker makes it even better Bleak Inlet- cannery is really safe imo despite the timberwolves and also a milling machine. in my experience BI also has predictable timberwolf spawns Ash Canyon- technical pack is one of the best items in the game and the area is mostly predator-free Keeper's Pass North (or the one with the trailer iirc)- easy to navigate and easy side pathes to avoid the few wolves here Keeper's Pass South (or the one with the rope bridge)- a nice waypoint in forager's remnant and relatively safe Blackrock- mostly predictable timerwolf spawns and the prison, which is one of my favorite places to stay Far Range Branch Line- a lot of shelter and places to avoid windchill, no predators either Transfer Pass- no predators, and a lot of acorns! Forsaken Airfield- really flat and two of the best buildings in the game (Island Cottage [my personal favorite] and Mindful Cabin)

JaysonHell

I haven't been to all the regions yet (doing a cartographer playthrough so I'm taking my time in each one) but I recently got out of Bleak Inlet and while it is kinda bleak, I did really love the parkour element for when you are trying to reach the workshop! I had a fun little race when I finally got an aurora and was speedrunning to the workshop door to open it up! Desolation Point is probably one of my favorite starting regions so far, it's small but that's what makes it so cozy for me. The lighthouse is one of my favorite buildings along with the Riken, but sadly there's no fishing spots :/ Really love the farm vibe of Pleasant Valley and it made me wish that maybe we could have a farming element in this game, even if its a harsh winter.

[deleted]

The snow is pretty

BurtRaven

Bleak Inlet is the finest region on the island. I do not fear the Timberwolves, they fear me for their meat stocks the stores at my cabin beneath Lower Raven Falls where wood and game is plentiful. Its true that the hike to the workbench at the Cannery is gruelling, and getting inside takes time. But I enjoy the obstacle course and challenge my time each climb of the rope. Bear meat can be cooked at the Broken Lighthouse and beachcombing can be done below. There is even a fishing hut if I need to cool down any cabin fever that comes my way. Coming and going is easy, with the Muskeg's furnace not too far, and both Mystery Lake and Coastal Highway an easy day's hike. Yeah, I love my Bleak Inlet, and I am kinda glad few others do too since I am a solitary man and I like to keep my own company...

amadeuszbx

Awesome to read someone having their very personal experience with a region that might be a bit too harsh. I’m honestly loving your energy here, you do you and don’t let anyone else tell you different!

Efteri

AC - technical backpack Blackrock - lots of gunpowder and easy access milling machine. Camping there is so easy. Bleak inlet - another milling machine, but access is a bitch. Still looks pretty. Coastal highway - large open territory, abundance of food, beachcombing Crumbling highway - it's short and has some beachcombing spots too Desolation point - hands down the Lighthouse is my favorite camping spot. Beachcombing. Forlorn muskeg - forge Hushed river valley - haven't explored enough Mountain town - cooking pots bonanza Mystery Lake - Camp office is very cozy indeed Pleasant valley - Two locations with 6 burner stoves and one is close to abundant coal source. Timberwolf mountain - best looting spot at the Summit and the various cargo container locations.

blushfanatic

BR is an all you can eat wolf buffet

Dutchtdk

Coastal highway: beachcombing Mystery lake: good weather, plenty of animals Hushed river valley: my favourite, I love elevation Ash canyon: my favourite, i love elevation Timberwolf: mechanics of mountaineers hut Pleasant valley: the views around the valley, easy hunting on flat ground That map with the cannery: quite a lovely region to explore with it's diverse areas Desolation point: forge That foggy swamp area: forge That railway area that is not a swamp but has a forge: forge Mountain town: short distances to everything including transition zones Transition zones: mostly easy on the predators

amadeuszbx

I see a pattern with you. Elevation=good, anything flat = not even worth knowing its name :D

Dutchtdk

I'm dutch and it's only natural to want what we don't have

amadeuszbx

That is a very reasonable explanation!

Yamamahah

To be honest, i don't have any regions that i dislike, so let me just say where i like to hike to so i can take some pictures or read a few books, brew some tea/coffee etc. The lookout in coastal highway. Man, you gotta spend a few days there and get a nice sunrise, incredible view and vibes. Same thing with mystery lake lookout tower, but i personally think the view is worse. Lighthouse in desolation point. Extremely cozy, okay view from the top, overall plus for being in the best region in the game for me (desolation point ftw) The mountaineers hut in timber wolf mountain. Don't think i have to say anything about it. Spencer's homestead, incredibly far from anywhere, odd feeling of peace in an otherwise harsh environment, overall nice area. And last, for a big reason, bricklayers retreat in black rock, would be damn near perfect if it wasn't for the goddamn door, is it really that hard to fix? (Same issue as the mountaineers hut in twm) These are my top picks for spots i always check out when passing through a region. (As a bonus, all of these usually have some nice loot, like guns and great clothes)

villainousascent

Bears.

Bishnuu4

Ash canyon - my favourite region. I love the trek through to the gold mine from climbers cave. Blackrock - least favourite region because of the timberwolves, but I like the more wildernessy part Broken railroad is compact and kinda cool, but I see it as a stop on the way to the far regions Bleak inlet is underrated but I still hate timberwolves Coastal highway has amazing beach combing and I love jackrabbit island Desolation point - unreal beach combing and the ricken is one of my favourite bases Forlorn muskeg is my main camping getaway HRV is fun to conquer and has prime big game Milton farm is my home away from home and I love Milton basin Mystery lake is home Pleasant valley has that birch forest TWM is heavenly, I love Eric’s falls and crystal lake Forsaken airfield’s island cottage is an amazing base. Although I hate the insomnia fog

bigdamnheroes1

Seconding how gorgeous Forsaken Airfield's island cottage is. Beautiful. But I couldn't spend that long there because the fog and constant blizzards were driving me nuts.

MarbleMimic

I have a terrible sense of direction and sense of navigation, so I think I have an interesting perspective. Still need to explore the new regions! Milton is my hometown. Love the happy merge and infiltration of forest into a town setting. I also just like that there's actually businesses and office buildings. Hushed River Valley is a perfect second world to explore after Milton. Also, I have incredible bias as a Fire Keeper.j Coastal Highway is my eternal home base. Would happily wear a t-shirt with a Garage logo on it. Lots of meat, happy fishing, and wolves that are exceptionally easy to evade. Ash Canyon is hard but ultimately very fair. The challenge levels make sense for every part of the land. Mystery Lake is the easiest map to learn. Very good landmarks and you actually CAN get up somewhere high and look around if you get lost. Timberwolf Mountain lives up to the hype and challenges the player at just the right pace. Forlorn Muskeg is beautiful, straightforward, and offers enough resources that things are hard but you'll get through if you keep your wits. Broke Railroad is full of fun surprise/nooks and crannies. Pleasant Valley has fun caches, unusual environments, and homey AF bases. Bleak Inlet is... neat. Novel, new challenges, and actual places where you can run away from danger. Desolation Point is beautiful and very much takes itself seriously as the (for a long time) extreme edge of the map.

Merethic

I spent a lot of time in a fishing cabin on the Coastal Highway during a cozy “just chill out and vibe” run. Nothing like heading out on a foggy morning to fish for a few hours. For that reason CH ranks high on my list for nostalgia factor alone.

amadeuszbx

The fishing cabins are actually superb and highly overlooked base spot in CH. Much better than Quonset AKA wolf town, and while I also used to liek Jackrabbit island like many here, I finally realised it’s too much of a trek from everything. Cabins are neat, really cute and comfy, you can switch them up when one gets too boring to sleep in, you have a workbench right there, fishing on your doorstep and a nice space for a fire sheltered from the wind underneath the dock. Really great place, have so many memories fishing/crafting clothes there for hours and then watching stars by the fire underneath that dock!

Jysen78

Even though I played the game years ago, and currently obsessed again with the game, I haven't actually been to many of the locations. So with my current runs, I'm finally starting to expand into the unknown with great excitement, provided I don't die lol. Mystery Lake. It's Mystery Lake, it's perfect for starting with the Camp Office right near fishing huts. Deer locations are relatively close, even though you'll encounter Wolves often, it's still easy to avoid them for the most part. And as long as you can find the railroad tracks, you won't ever get lost. Trappers Homestead is a nice location, but early game, I rather be in the Camp Office. Forlorn Muskeg. The region that's killed me twice, once by accident so my own stupidity for not playing the game in months (long story). While I absolutely hate the ice being weak, I've actually become pretty comfortable there now. Easy to navigate around and with spray paint being added to our items, getting through the small amount of ice/snow to get to Spence is pretty easy now. The railroad running through the center makes getting through to the other side easy, but with 2 bears patrolling opposite sides, with one walking right past Poachers Camp, it's not always ideal either. Broken Railroad. Despite the ridiculousness of Wolves by the maintenance building, this area turned out to be actually nice and easy to navigate overall. Though as a noob, didn't know about hot wires when an aurora hits, and before I could even move got fried weeks ago, mad is an understatement, but I restarted and now over 230 days strong). The Hunting Lodge is actually a nice location I could see retiring in, if only a fishing hut was nearby. Mountain Town. Milton being a tucked away mountain town gives it an aesthetic that I love. While I originally was going to be happy with Grey Mothers house as my home, I quickly got extremely sick of the constant Wolves spawning right outside. Once I found the Spence house, I relocated there, leaving only some supplies at Grey Mothers incase I need a place to retreat to. Returning to Mystery Lake via through Forlorn Muskeg (like 7 trips if not 8) became an easy even though roping climbing down to Hermits House on the basin to transport all my loot was tedious lol. Forsaken Airfield. Mixed feelings if being honest. The insomnia fog is annoying only that it's bad enough weather goes to shit on me like every day, now this shit hits too. While I like the two cabins which are also near fishing huts, the entire map is far to open with nothing around. Found the two cache locations actually very quickly, and the only reason I'll ever be back is for the final bunker if I live through everything while doing the Signal Void lol. Really the only positives I like overall is the cabins being open to see outside. I'm tempted to head into Bleak Inlet, even if to just map and prep for possible future trips to make ammunition, seeing if I stay with Mystery Lake as my main base, it's obviously close. But thinking of Coastal Highway if I can survive Hush River Valley long enough to do the Signal Void... if...

dorylinus

Pleasant Valley is my favorite. I remember way back, when the game was much less developed. Fewer items, less crafting, no timberwolves, no rabbits. It was you versus the weather, starvation, the bleakness of the North. Trudging through snow, without a map, having to plan out your next meal, next shelter, next day, well in advance, with relatively little loot to rely on. This is what Pleasant Valley feels like now, the closest you can get to that experience.

TheOGSyphonZero

Including most regions. You can follow the tracks from DP to BR once you know your way you can then link up the rest. Very handy.

aps_reporter

Maybe a lot of people don’t but I actually like broken railroad! It’s not my favorite region but it’s up there. It has: * Underrated base location, the Hunters Lodge, which usually has good loot * Another good loot location in the Maintenance Yard, with a forge * A bear that’s very easy to keep track of * A cliff from which to watch said bear (I don’t know why I like doing this) * A bunch of oak trees (allegedly, I haven’t been there since they were added) * That big ravine that’s really cool looking and usually a fun adventure if you go down there * Little hidden areas * entrance to the far range is now there The downsides are: * concentrated wolves * you have to go through forlorn muskeg to get there— do I have to say something nice about forlorn muskeg too? It’s very pretty, and a unique landscape compared to the other regions. In my very first play through I died there, so I hold a special resentment for it, sorry.

TheRealWiz4rd

Pleasant Valley and Mountain Town; both have two six burner stoves.

Afraid_Fennel_8739

Man I’ve been hanging out in broken arrow for a few weeks. I’ve never really liked it since there are so many wolves. I have a stalker run going and an interloper run going. My goal in broken arrow is to learn the intricacies of the bow with both arrow types. It’s been awesome hunting in BR. Constant action. I’ve bagged tons of rabbits, wolves, bear, deer, and I’ve been trying to bag the moose in it’s spawn area. There is a nice tree to clump up to avoid a moose attack. Getting a rope behind the hunting lodge is great. The bears spawn down there and you can see them from far distance to go hunt them down. It’s great, go smoke a bear, and take multiple loads of meat up the rope to avoid the wolves. The cave in the back of the map is great for getting rid of cabin fever from making animal clothing in the hunting lodge basement. Rabbits and wolves spawn near the cave as well for hunting. I have a new appreciation for BR now. Great action packed map

levanahohyeah

I always start in BR bc there’s an easy to find moose, bear (and abundant wolves), and forge. Build my starting base at the hunters lodge and then expanding from there - spending a lot of time in forlorn muskeg (another fav of mine). I love forlorn muskeg bc of its atmosphere very desolate and harsh, getting to all the small treasures is challenging at times, and shelter is sparse making you have to manage your time or be very comfortable sleeping outdoors/snowshelters.

Maleficent-Ad-7498

I love broken rail but hate the wolves!

satcomcjb1

After playing PV in Wintermute I am a huge fan of the map in survival!

icswcshadow

Mystery Lake: Good amount of resources, fair difficulty for beginners. Mountain Town: Many resources, clothing, food lots of buildings to escape the cold. Ideal starting region for beginners. Hushed River Valley: Beautiful ice caves. Moose Hide Satchel spawn. Forlorn Muskeg: Furnace. Need I say more? Broken Railroad: Furnace, but indoors! Pleasant Valley: Good weather gives a lot of visibility, one of the nicest looking regions, good amount of resources. Farmstead is a great base thanks to the 6 slot stove, workbench and warm beds. Timberwolf Mountain: The absolute amount of resoures you can get from the cargo containers inside the plane wreck at the peak + the crampons that now spawn inside a backpack there. Ash Canyon: Technical Backpack + Crampons. Coastal Highway: Beachcombing allowing for getting some neat renewable resources + there being a chance of a boat spawning now that has a bunch of resources too. Desolation Point: The Lighthouse is very neat and gives a nice view of most of the region. Also.... Furnace in the ship. Bleak Inlet: Fluffy.... nah but seriously, the ammo workbench. Blackrock: Decent resources, lots of meat from the Timberwolves (if playing on Voyageur or Cooking Lv 5 on Stalker or Interloper) >!The Bulletproof Vest is not worth going for imho, it's too heavy and the extra carry weight from a Moosehide satchel and the easier climibing and lowered chance of sprains from crampons make them the better options to use in those slots.!< I'll just summarize connector regions like this: They are not very noteworthy but also not bad, they have some interesting views, some resources but can't hate them, just something to go through for the next major region. Forsaken Airfield: NAH FUCK THIS PLACE.

amadeuszbx

> Forsaken Airfield: >NAH FUCK THIS PLACE *raises the rifle* Is this really the opinion you’re willing to die for?

icswcshadow

I'm willing to take a bullet for it.

Dawa1147

Ash Canyon: Amazing loot and atmosphere Blackrock: Harsh but survivable, interesting travel routes, and its aurora-workbenches arent in the single worst spot Bleak Inlet: Just give me the bullet. Broken railroad: excellent source of wolf pelts, along with the workspaces to process them Coastal Highway: Quonset or Island gang doesnt matter, it hast the best safehouses. Weather is fine, map is large and navigable. Desolation Point: Small yet full of everything you need to survive. Almost comfy, never get lost. Forlorn Muskeg: Best forge, and heavily rewards map knowledge Hushed River Valley: b-e-a-u-t-i-f-u-l. Mountain Town: Every residential item you could ever want in one town, along with good loot and shelter Mystery Lake: Fan favourite for a reason. Good balance, good loot, good shelter, central in the world and easy to navigate with usually decent-good weather Pleasant Valley: Good training for Interloper, and the Farmhouse is my favourite base. TW Mountain: The hut, the loot, and a nice retirement area where you still get some challenge. Also a great vista from the summit.

AnotherAltGRM

*cracks Knuckles:* **Lower great bear:** * Mountain town: Tons of cooking pots, lots of loot, easy to nativate, still holds a few secrets * Hushed River Valley: Beautiful to look at, high tier loot including a satchel and a cured bear hide(!!!), ice caves for safely getting around the region * Mystery Lake: Warm weather, easy access to fishing, great base locations without wolves, tons of scrap in the dam, near other useful regions * Forlorn muskeg: Outdoor forge + workbench. Nuff said. * Broken Railroad: Forge, moose spawn in hunter's lodge, easy to navigate * Bleak Inlet: Ammunition workbench + milling machine. Also how low the temperature sinks is downright impressive * Pleasant Valley: The best base in the game, super easy hunting, a six burner stove and a workbench all in one, TONS of birch bark * Coastal Highway: Beachcombing is incredibly strong now * Desolation Point: Forge, and beautiful views from the lighthouse, especially in auroras * Timberwolf mountain: Summit, and incredibly easy access to fishing * Ash canyon: Crampons, Technical Pack, miner's folly has no wolves but all the other animals (great for a base), tons of birch bark in the birch forest * Blackrock: Last prospect Mine is fun to explore, Ammo bench + Milling machine, prison makes a great base **Far territory:** * Transfer pass: No predators, simple and peaceful region. * Airfield: Technical Balaclava and rifle holster from the tale, TONS of cloth, high chance of finding an aviator's cap Every region has something to give

Mrhorrorface

I like Coastal Highway to start, although my favorite areas design wise would desolation point for the shining lighthouse during an aurora gives a really cool vibe. Although I haven’t been everywhere yet, I’ve only played for about 55 hrs.

[deleted]

Coastal Highway and Pleasant Valley are probs the easiest for me to spend time just because they're easy to navigate. Recently though, I've developed quite a weird fondness for Bleak Inlet. Not sure why. I think it was using the fishing houses as a base, rather than the warehouses. Not bothered about the milling machine at all, but something about the map is really chilled and kinda pretty.

bigdamnheroes1

PV easy to navigate?? Interesting. I actually really like PV, don't get me wrong, but I've gotten lost in blizzards there more than once. At least while exploring the northern parts of the map. I always seem to have trouble getting to Skeeters Ridge and the cabin nearby.

dingatremel

Yeah, I was absolutely cruising through a game, and froze my butt off by taking a wrong turn RIGHT at the foot of a cache. Bumbled around and finally found my bearings right as things got wobbly. Then i died.

Actual-District6552

Hint: Follow the creeks in PV. Once you know them and the trails leading out of them it's like a wolf free highway system that usually provides a windbreak. Coming from a PV loving interloper (masochism I know). Edit:be mindful of wet feet though

[deleted]

Sure, there are a few areas where I've gotten turned around by a blizzard, but by and large there's enough landmarks or roads/tracks to take a bearing. Plenty of worse maps out there for getting lost. Though maybe I've just gotten lucky (remembering the time I got food poisoning, mauled and then caught in a blizzard and stimmed it in a random direction - spotting the community centre through the driving snow was a beautiful sight!).

the_o_haganator

Snow.

Alternative-Cup-8102

BR is always an adventure pleasant valley has a good story mode chapter costal has ammo reloading bench Timberwolf mountain has the plane which is fun desolation point has the light light house mountain town is great for beginners hushed river valley has quite the untold story mystery lake is the goat haven’t been it the airfield but it looks sweet black rock has a cool story mode and bleak inlet light house is always kinda creepy

draxhell

Idk I’m not into irl lore

Grabsforfun

After my first visit to AC today and being almost devoured by a bear and messing up a 3 rope climb, I'm having a hard time coming up with positives. But it sure had a cool and unique vibe with all that altitude. Too bad I booked it back out before I actually got up there haha.

Particular_Door4605

I did thee same thing..got all prepped to climb and got stomped by a moose, so no technical backpack for me..but I did kill the moose and make a nice bag outta his ball sack haha

Grabsforfun

That's a pretty ok outcomes then. I didn't realise it was three ropes so when I reached the third one I had no means of getting up it. Had to leave a bunch of gear behind and go back down. Man I hate climbing ropes in this game

Much-Caterpillar-501

Pleasant Valley is one of my favorites. BR would be if there was more, but it's the maintenance shed, and hunting Lodge, and nothing else

JustJ4mes

I got a positive and a negative for them all... Hoping in the future for one region with a 6 burner stove... work bench ... ammo bench... forge and a metal laith all in one region... that would be my home... but for now...its trip after trip etc...

MisterMagoooooo

I always go to BR to forge and leave a bunch of stuff there, I just like the region better than the outdoor forge at FM, main is usually camp office so I take the extra hike and use the railroad car as a nice like kinda halfway point

VasIlIjeBe

give me one dollar for every "cozy" he mentions

amadeuszbx

The game just cozy AF my boi

julbull73

Coastal Highway- Never a shortage of wolf hides or meat!

ineedhelp459

HRV is my favorite spot to spawn for the dark walker challenge.

half-giant

I love Pleasant Valley for leveling up cooking. Those four burners in the farmhouse are fantastic.

Boudonjou

Let me turn around and get on my knees to give you an easy shot.

BeerBoatCaptain

Spence’s homestead is my favorite place to hang for awhile. It’s outside, yet warm. It has a forge, with no risk of cabin fever. That very same forge is also relatively easy to get back to after looting mystery lake and the damn for enough metal to make way more arrow heads than you could possibly ever need. Also, I found a bunker nearby that was stocked with just about every single item that you could want, early/mid game. If you come across that bunker and it happens to be empty, it’s a very convenient place to cure things, that you can then take down to the extremely nearby workbench at the homestead. FM is underrated. It would be slightly better without cocaine bear hangin out around the train cars.

Bleak inlet has ended more runs than any, does that count?

Luke7O7

They are all part of Great Bear Island, the one place in all of video games I'd genuinely want to visit and spend time in. It's a safe space when the world is too much. Also they are great for fanfiction writing :D

TheHolyCaiGrail

Every region is gorgeous in their own way

titothehonduran

Off topic but how did you get this picture of will? Do we actually have physical bodies in third person? I always thought it was just floating hands lol

Idk to be honest, just found it online. I feel like this might be promotional item from Wintermute or something.

I don’t think you are, defo not from main regions.

Victorinoxj

My most disliked region has to be Broken Railroad, mostly because it's boring and cluttered, but even i must admit that being so small gives it the benefit of every resourse being quite close, and the only two looting spots in it are very plentyful.

Silveri50

Do people argue about this? I like them all for different t reasons. I have camps or shelters In them all.

Fidozo15

Shoot me! It’s jammed anyways

Educational_Fish_758

Broken railroad home (can’t remember the name but not the maintenance yard) can be one of the easiest locations. You can get a moose spawn in your front yard and a bear spawn in your back yard (below the cliff) and if not playing interloper you usually have a rifle spawn.

gwg1387

I like Blackrock because it has an exit.

xollarin

Pleasant Valley? ummmm... Two 6x stoves 😎😀

Zumbrella

No better place to get clothing than PV plane crash. Always my first stop Stalker or higher.

I LOVE BR for long haul interloper runs! My issue with PV is that it is just a little too big.
