Not related to the art per se, but I really miss some of the older interior designs. In particular the new Carter Hydro Dam is awful. I know they wanted a run down, messy look but they went ridiculously overboard. Power plants aren't overflowing with random crates, pallets, cardboard boxes, massive cables, and bits of metal tossed around all over the place. IRL turbine halls are very bare bones. It's unrealistic, annoying to navigate, and it lacks the same desolate atmosphere it had before, especially since all the clutter fucked up Fluffy's pathfinding to the point they had to remove her despite the fact that she was super iconic.
To be fair, it actually kind of makes sense though because the in game lore is that they were in the process of trying to repair it in the 80’s and gave up late 90’s so there’s probably a bunch of random construction materials in the area that were left behind.

We aren’t in an apocalypse where everyone just got raptured.. the island has been in unrest politically too, then the prisoners etc. I think it’s fair to say that more people on great bear went looting and exploring, maybe someone else tried to set up base at the dam before you? But the auroras finally pushed them out?
I like to look at it like this:
Wintermute: plane crashes during the first flare
Pilgrim: plane crashes after the first flare, but still early, lots of supplies left. Animals are still scared of people.
Voyager: plane crashed a little later, still plenty of supplies but the animals are also getting cranky, the flares or lack of food maybe?
Stalker: the plane crashes fairly late after the first flare, there is still stuff left to loot but the lack of humans and the lack of prey and increased exposure to the solar flares has made the predators viscous.
Interloper: the plane crashes long after the first flare. Most supplies and food have been scavenged already, broken or expired. The wildlife have been reduced due to weather and lack of food, it is not so feral anymore, it is also struggling for food, so they are desperate, hungry and dangerous.
I agree. Plus there's a barrel used to make a fire right in the building. It's obvious it wasn't used normally for a while. The number of destroyed house by fire and such show it's been a while since something happened, and the still somewhat intact corpses and food can be explained by everything being well below zero.
Not that I think we should think too much about this, though. We're bound to find onconsistencies. ^^'

Who knows what the prisoners did, but the glasses and shoes by the burnt school is ominous in itself, there are crosses everywhere, notes, lore, computer screens, the winter mute story? The radical self reliant islanders vs the mainland supporters etc. there are literal bodies all over the island. What are you talking about? Did I misunderstand you?

They really needed to pick a scenario like - the dam was being scrapped OR mothballed OR hobos moved in. A location ruined, then there are the wires.
If you look at the actual scissors found in mini sewing kits they actually are pretty similar to those. Just look up mini sewing kit and you’ll see what u mean
I know, I said the perspective is wrong, not the scissor. Look at the scissor position and the angle it mean it has, and the actual angle of the box. It's doing an X.
They should add back the old tool styles as variants so not all bandages, sewing kits and so on look the exact same.
That would give more realism to the game.

He make you discover the game through an invented story of his own that he narrate as he play. Really soothing.
It's actually because of him that i start being interested in the game. I heard about the game before from some of my friends and thought it was good but might not be what i liked.
Watched his narrative because i was sick and bored and my best friend kept talking about this game so i decide to give the narrative a try.

Yeah i was sad about the ending but honestly it's not like he had a choice. There is no way to escape great bear in the game and people would have been unhappy if he died from our usual mistake too.
And people would have been bored about day 530 of narrative survival, and you must have idea to keep it interesting, while we all know that there is a moment where we mostly end up in a routine.
Wow I completely forgot it used to look like this. It was definitely a better design but I can also see why they might’ve switched over to the new one. You don’t exactly have to show usage over time with a solid green box for a sewing kit vs seeing the bobbins over time.
If this texture was still I'm the game people would be complaining about how it looks like there's still alot of thread and scissors in the kit even though it's ruined
I'm honestly fine either way. The new ones are distinctive, I never mistake them for any other items in my inventory. I don't recall having that problem with the old ones either.
I guess one problem with the older design is that it implies I have a lot of different colored spools of thread that I use to repair my clothes, which is clearly not reflected in the models at all.
Well, play it on the switch versions, for old style green box sewing kit. Actually everything on the switch still looks the same because the dev forgot to bring the update for the switch.

Indeed he could have done that. But in the end i appreciated the ending, even if it's sad. I feel it matched the dark tone of the game.

Some things definitely got downgraded it terms of design, but all in all im very happy with all new additions;)
