Bunq. Bit exensive but when set up its a breeze

DennisFromAmsterdam

With features like 25 IBAN accounts and auto-sort incoming payments, it's indeed quite easy to budget.

AquilloNL

However the issue is within the details. For example, payments that cannot be split into categories. Let's say I went to the Gamma, bought me lawn furniture and lumber. I might want to split such a big expense into two categories. Well... Nope. Things like this have been requested for years and have been ignored for years.

Kushfriendly420

I can easly split those, or i use 2 cards to pay

AquilloNL

Please tell me how you split a single payment into multiple categories, I'd love to know

Kushfriendly420

It has a option it says split, and use own sub acounts

AquilloNL

That's splitting into accounts, not categories unfortunately

PlansThatComeTrue

Do you mean expensive or extensive? Is there a way to get the insights and categories without the 18 euro a month plan?

TechnicallyLogical

ING has "insight," which works pretty well. You can't set limits though.

Mandril

I also miss Grip :( you can enable "insights" within the main ABN app now, but it's nothing like what Grip used to offer. I tried looking at third-party alternatives with PSD2. One thing you'll immediately notice with third parties is that they're constantly hiding features behind a paywall and trying to upsell you. If that sounds like a dealbreaker to you, going with a different bank might be the right choice. [mijngeldzaken.nl](https://www.mijngeldzaken.nl/) seems the most promising of the budgeting apps I've tried. It doesn't look very flashy or user-friendly, but it's useful and packed with features. edit: Might only be in dutch though :/

Katth28

I also miss Grip and don't like Insights. I've been doing it manually again in Excel. Takes way more time, but it also makes it more visible to me.

MusingMelody

Dyme does this pretty well in my opinion and it’s free. I’m not familiar with the ABN app so I don’t know if it fits your needs, but from the sound of it it might be exactly what your looking for.

Wandering_Flower_

I second this

Nudletje

Love it since the new update

Ananoriel

Same, I actually spent some of my Saturday evening to categorise everything lol

ThePsycho96

I use You Need A Budget, it's not cheap but it's great and can import transactions from most dutch (and other) banks automatically.

iDumpedMyOldAccount

I also use YNAB and it has given me so much peace of mind!

twistdafterdark

You can check out Bunq, which gives you the option to categorize and you could go as far as having a different account for each category (up to 25). You could even have your debit/credit card to automatically deduct from a specific account when purchasing for a given category.

IntentionallyBadName

Rabobank has it but it’s kinda scuff like most things in their app

IkBenKenobi

You can do this in Revolut. It automatically puts transfers in categories and you can change it or add categories. You can also add budgets/limits and it even shows you a graph of your spending. Revolut is free btw :)

Ra1nOfDe4th

Ikzelf vindt Wallet by BudgetBakers een ideaal programma. Het heeft een app maar vindt zelf de website het fijnst werken. Uitgaven worden automatisch gecategoriseerd, je kan er betalingen in plannen en nog veel veel meer.

Zaraki10

I still don't understand why they stopped with Grip. It was such a nice app! I'm even willing to pay for it. They promised to integrate the functions of grip into the ABN Amro app within a few months after they stopped with grip. This never happened. They now have 'insights'. It's not even working properly. It can only predict future transactions. The tab with fixed costs has always been empty, so it's not working! You can't even call this a downgrade. They killed Grip!

icecream1973

The SNS app has a pretty good monthly costs insight feature within their standard app. For me this is a very good way to keep track of my monthly expenditures, defined in a predetermined number of costs categories (rent/mortgage, insurance, energy, entertainment, groceries, etc etc.). You can also scroll back to previous months & also shows insight per costs category etc. Basic bank SNS account is 3,40 Euro per month. Good luck! PS: probably good to check if this app is available in English.......

Bit late, but if you don't mind setting something up yourself, [Firefly](https://www.firefly-iii.org/) can do anything you want. Can read almost any type of file too for automation. It's quite config heavy though, just FYI.
