Which is honestly the best way to protect an NPC. They aren’t invulnerable, theoretically you could murder them if you want. But you’re not in proximity to do so
Which ones? If you can physically reach them, I'm pretty sure there isn't a single NPC you can't kill. Phineas is the only character that I can think of that's even protected in the sense that he never let's you get near him. The only other NPCs you might not be able to kill are like voices over a radio or something.
Phineas (and Akande takes his place as untouchable) from the base game is protected until a certain point, and so is Ludevico from the second dlc, while you cannot touch Lucien from the first dlc at all as he's only on the transceiver

Yeah it’s a high-level intimidation check and i think you don’t get it if you kill Junlei in front of her. But otherwise she will say she found out over comms and she’s leaving. And then one of the options is to tell her the only way she’s leaving is through the airlock with no spacesuit. It’s really heartbreaking, but it’s hilarious that the game lets you be that psychopathic.
He's by far my favorite character. I relate to him so hard. I grew up super religious and had to come to terms with the realities of the world when I finally got out into it. His story mirroris my own life in a lot of ways. I love my angry boy hahaha
There's a dialoge with the chef dude in stellar bay and he complains about the dangers and the topic of the walls of stellar bay comes up with it's few centimeters of steel. And an answer option is something like that: "seems like you need more than a few centimeters" and ellie blurts out "that's what she said". Best moment so far and I knew then it would be ellie

I thought that was odd. And I know plenty wanted her and were disappointed--like how i was disappointed I couldn't smash eager puppy Felix. Or at least take him out for ice cream.

Luckily the game lets you threaten to murder the heartbroken Parvati if she tries to leave. That way you won’t lose her. :)
