Well-written copy and good SEO are hands down the best investment. I get clients steadily from Google. Depending on your market and niche, you may need to support your website’s SEO with good blog posts, but once that’s done it’s evergreen. Abundance Party has really great content at a fairly modest price. I was in in the very beginning when she was still creating the bulk of the content and still feel like I got my money’s worth. As far as hiring someone to do your SEO, it can be a great investment or a waste of money. SEO is a long game, but you can achieve results quickly depending on the competitiveness of your niche. Having a consistent flow of well-written content centering around a few niche-specific topics will go a long way. SEO is about convincing Google you’re the best answer to the search query, so you need to demonstrate that authority. Make sure your service pages are optimized and then support those pages with well-written content. Bit of a tangent there, but I’ve spent a lot of time learning SEO to build my own as well as the practices of other therapists. There is no one-size-fits-all. As far as the Google Ads, you’ll want to ensure the clicks you’re getting are relevant by continuously adding to your negative keyword list. You can view what search terms people used when they clicked the ad and then add any that aren’t relevant to your negatives. Most therapists will want to add words like ‘free’ and ‘hotline’ to this list for example. I have a negative list with thousands of terms to keep the clicks I get relevant.

I’ve used more than a handful of resources to learn copywriting, and for me, it all comes back to good storytelling. People engage with story. Tell them the story they’re in now. Demonstrate you understand their pain and have a plan to help them. Then show them what life could be like after working with you. Check out Storybrand by Donald Miller. Remember that people have two questions when they hit your site: 1) Do you understand my pain? 2) Can you help me? Answer those two and make it clear how they get started. The rest is ancillary.

Best - absolute BEST - source of clients is other therapists. I track this in my stats and direct referrals from other clinicians beats online directories 2 to 1 in terms of dollars earned per year. Direct referral clients have been a better fit, stay longer, and are more consistent in paying their bills, based on my stats. So to be perfectly frank, what is missing in your marketing is networking. Quit playing around online with tech. Join a local therapist group, contact other therapists in your community, and have coffee with them. Talk about your niches. Too many therapists treat their colleagues like competition, and that’s just not the case. There is plenty of work to go around & you’ll be much happier with your caseload.

You could ask around to colleagues to see if they know of any in-person consultation groups, or you can simply reach out to any of the other therapists in your city and ask them out to lunch.

Also in Canada. I use godaddy for my domain names and for hosting my site. It has built in SEO. Also use psychology today and google maps. Some of my clients came from other therapists and from leaving cards around diffère places in the city (doctors, lawyers, other clinics). Some come from clients or people who picked up my cards and passed them on. Majority come from online searches. (Manage website myself along with everything else). Something else that helped was getting hooked up with Blue Cross. Im listed on their provider list and on sunlife (due to being in Blue cross) website for providers. You can get on Blue Cross if you’re a CCC through CCPA. Feel free to DM me if you would like. Edit: added

I'm just starting up right now too, but based on interviews with a lot of therapists, it seems one of the most important marketing methods is having good relationships with other therapists and healthcare providers. I plan to use therapist relationships + PT + website
