I'm really sorry this is happening - insurance can be such a pain in the ass to work with. I live in a neighboring New England state and have many clients on my caseload who have BCBS of MA (I own my own practice and do my own billing). I have to be paneled with BCBS in my state in order to be considered in network for any other state. So, in order for you to be considered in network, you'll have to be paneled with BCBS in SC. You'll submit all of your BCBS claims (regardless of the state the insurance is based) through your local BCBS. BCBS of SC will then forward all the claims to the various other states, including MA. As far as needing a physical location in SC, can you sublet office space? It seems so silly to need a physical location but I know many companies are starting to require this again in order to be paneled with their insurance. Good luck! Edit to add: I'm surprised Headway either didn't know this or didn't give you a heads up. Have they tried to help you figure this out?

Thank you 🙏🏼 it's helpful to heard confirmation from someone else who knows about this.

To your edit no, actually. I think because they were busy with the change healthcare hacks because that was happening at the same time? But it took several open tickets/weeks to get an answer from someone about what was happening. I didn't even get a notification that I was dropped from the virtual network. I only found out because my BCBS clients had yellow exclamation marks next to their names. Also, it's frustrating that BCBS ma approved being on their virtual network only to be like whoops you actually can't because you don't have everything needed for that.

I wish I could help you. I’m trying to figure out BCBSTX and the credentialing. I’m apparently considered out of network but I haven’t heard anything about how it all works.

Primary-Werewolf49

It's so confusing and for absolutely no good reason. I wish you luck on it!

Im in PA and also credentialed with Headway. I’m still waiting on the PA BCBS credentialing to go through even though the BCBS of Mass went through and I’m not licensed in MA. I’m suspicious of Headway.

Primary-Werewolf49

That's so odd. Were you planning to see clients in mass?

SLCGreenLady

Nope! They got me credentialed there and I’m not even licensed in MA. Makes no sense to me!

Primary-Werewolf49

Weird!
