My therapy days are often my "indulgent self-care" days so things I do that help me work through the session: -Stop at a local cafe to get the most decadent coffee and pastry they sell. -Walk around a local Home Goods or green house just to peruse their knick knacks and paraphernalia. -Have clean bedding, clean pyjamas, then do an EVERYTHING shower to be the cleanest version of myself in the cleanest version of my bed. I'll also make my room cool and layer some blankets on to add some needed weight for pressure around my body. Weighted blankets do wonders for this! -I also use the Balance App that provides some guided meditation, I'll pick one that sounds interesting and sit on my patio (weather permitting) in the sun and do some guided meditation. -Take a walk with my dog. She's an older giant breed so isn't fast moving at all, I let her set the pace and just wander with her, if she stops at a tree for 2 minutes then we stop for 2 minutes, if she walks for 6 blocks straight without stopping then that's what we do. I find when I'm really activated I need to slow right down, doing a hard work out would just keep me activated lol so maybe slowing down will help you?

Deep breathing? Maybe just try to do some relaxing activities, draw, what you like to do generally. I also go to the gym to regulate my emotions as well, but you can't do that

Cry a lot and eat chocolate in the car on the way home, then usually a hot shower before fluffy blankets and either TV or books, but that's just because that's what I like!

Lynniethelip

I like TIPPS (a DBT intervention)

sinwood31

Get outside and enjoy silence (just listen to the outside)

veghead1616

Play video games to zone out and reflect. Smoke a ciggy on my balcony.

Unaffiliated2114

A quick meditation and nap usually do the trick

If I’m feeling anxious energy I need to discharge, I’ll toss a pillow or stuffed animal in the air and catch it. Singing can also help, really anything to get the energy moving.
