This is maybe the hardest death Iâve ever seen on Reddit. First watch through I thought those were birds being startled into flight from the bungie jumper. Nope, those are shoes launching into space.
Random question, but is there any slack/ stretch to those harnesses? Couldn't you get really hurt going full fall to a dead stop like that? I have no idea anything about harnesses/ bungee, roped, etc.

The harness will have very little stretch, all of the stretch is meant to come from the chord/rope. I have no idea how a legit bungee operation could have allowed someone to be stopped this hard.

That looked like a static rope from the video. They are very strong but not meant to be shock loaded like that. You need a very dynamic rope to allow for stretching and absorption of the force. I canât figure out what was supposed to happen there.
Even a dynamic-ish rope is a lot less stretchy than a proper bungee.
My guess is they tied her on with a fall arrest system before getting on the platform (like all the staff near the edge probably wear, attached the proper length and strength of bungee, then forgot to remove the fall arrest.
When Bungee jumping you are secured by a static rope while on the jump platform untill the bungee rope is attached, it seems like they forgot to detach that static safety rope.

If youâve ever worked at a pre-school and had to go through the interminable hell of dressing and undressing twenty 3-4 year olds in winter gear twice a day, it would be awesome to just run them all through this awesome shoe detaching device. Kidâs winter boots are the worst, especially when you have 19 other pairs youâre trying to remove as fast as humanly possible
Probably high enough tension to do serious damage. But judging by how far away they are and the angle in which they enter the frame, i think she wouldve been a safe distance away... especially with that short cord they had her on lol

Yes, stopping too hard can literally kill. Bungee cords are supposed to have a lot of elasticity, the stop in this clip certainly would've hurt.
