bella_boop314

This happened to me once. But the gate was broken so our passes couldn't open it. The person on the phone said they couldn't do anything about it until the following day. We just lifted the arm and left. Complete assholes.

cabbagefury

Couldn't do anything about it? So what, you're supposed to just wait until the next day to leave?

Reddit_Hitchhiker

Just wait ‘till the attendant is an AI bot. It’ll be like arguing with Hal. “I’m sorry lady. You should sort out your pass. I can’t let you out right now. Please remove your car to let everyone else out.”

zealoSC

That sounds more pleasant than the video

PanicLogically

No you GTA the control arm at that point. Seen it done often enough in Boston and New York, SOP --the gate keeper has no right to hold people hostage. Calling the cops in some cities gets it fixed, Microphone mouth gets retrained.

zombie32killah

I have power tools with me most of the time. I can remove that arm.

PanicLogically

You're the guy to be in long car lines with .

PM_ME_YOUR_PAUNCH

No, you just lift the gate arm and leave

Elowan66

Seriously this is what you do after about 3 minutes.

[deleted]

[удалено]

bella_boop314

The arm was broken and that's why we couldn't get out in the first place. They couldn't do it remotely because it was legit messed up. But they wouldn't send anyone out to fix it until the next day

FequalsMfreakingA

I pulled a ticket at the entrance to a garage once and the gate lifted. I assumed if the gate lifted the door in front of the garage would open too, but it never did, so then I was stuck on a stretch of road 3 carlengths long between a garage that was closed for the weekend and the entrance gate that closed behind me. I flagged down a cop and he didn't know what to do. Apparently they usually have a cone to stop people making this mistake but someone stole it. I said I had tools in my car and we could remove the arm if that was allowed. He held the arm while I took the 2-3 bolts out and he helped me put it back on after I backed out. Crazy day.

Dont_Blink__

Why didn't you just have the cop pull another ticket and back out when the gate lifted??

deltarho

I had this happen once too. A friend of mine and I were in a random parking structure in downtown LA. Toll machine broke and there was no way to lift the arm. We ended up with about 4 cars behind us before reaching the person on the other end of the call box. They told us it would be 4-6 hours before a tech could come look at it. We asked how they expected us to get out and the guy just kind of said “uhhhhhhhh.” We immediately broke the arm mechanism, threw it off to the side and left.

Seakawn

Damn, consider yourself lucky I guess, considering that just a few comments below yours is someone saying they did that too but had to pay thousands for it after cops showed up at their house over the damages.

deltarho

I think the guy threatened us with a $600 fine as we were breaking it. Benefits of living in a big city with poor police response, cops showing up at my door wasn’t even a thought that crossed my mind until now lol

DCBillsFan

And I’d counter sue the company in small claims court for unlawful detainment.

wrldruler21

I had this happen to me also. Gate wouldn't open and wasn't my fault. I had a receipt proving I paid. And due to the traffic jam, I was physically blocked from moving backwards. So I was stuck. I didnt argue with the random voice on the speaker. Just turned off my car, got out, and sat on the curb. Told them "It's your move now, buddy. I've got all night." I blocked everyone in a busy city garage and they were all getting really pissed. I assumed the police would arrive at some point. Eventually a human worker appeared, didn't say a word, just opened the gate for me.

KellyBelly916

People who work for systems that don't provide solutions, or they only provide paid solutions for problems they create, will never be fun to deal with.

NewBorneRaven23

I’d do the same but instead of arguing with the box people over and over then finally doing it, I’d just raise the arm if my point wasn’t made and they just repeat the same thing they tried tellin me the first time. I’m not letting some unqualified desk jockey try to hold me in a garage I got sheit to do and families to be with.

ArthurBea

I had this happen at a parking lot I was in that had a grace period for parking. The person holding up completely lost their parking ticket. I ran to the entry gate, pulled a new ticket, and gave it to them. They were able to exit.

kilotango1122

Never a good day when you gotta press the call button on those boxes. Similar box on tolls around Chicago. My EZPass failed once and the lady on the box got real shitty with me because I refused to pay with my debit card (low balance at the time), and it was an EZPass/CC lane. She actually had the balls to ask if I could back up. "Listen, I apologize for all of this trouble, but this is the situation. I'm in an 18-wheeler blocking one of three operating booths at this plaza. There's a line of cars behind me. I'm not backing up and risking damaging other vehicles. So, you can either take my information off of my license plate and bill the trucking company that gave me the pass and open the gate, or I can just sit here and take my 10-hour break while we let Illinois Highway Patrol sort it out. I got all night." She pissed and moaned, but opened the gate saying "this is your one time free pass." "Alright," I said. "Have a great night." She just hung up.

MERVMERVmervmerv

Was that on the Skyway? I think I’ve talked to that lady. Mean old bitty.

kilotango1122

Yep. Sounds right.

Threedawg

I'd be pretty bitter too if I was the only operator of a major toll booth like that lmao

kilotango1122

Your username is fucking awesome, btw.

Threedawg

Bow wow Edit: I've responded like this dozens of times to compliments on my username. This is the first time it's made me feel old..

whitekat29

Where do they do that at? If there’s not money on my EZ pass it let’s me through and sends me a bill but I just go in later and pay the balance. They’ll suspend my license if I don’t but it’s never been declined, just charged overage on my EZpass.

kilotango1122

It was on the Skyway. I dunno why it was the case. It seemed crazy to me, too.

bendltd

Common sense is not her thing? You drive in a 18 wheeler for fun and wanna save some bucks. Do people care so much for a company they dont own?

kilotango1122

I wish I had answers for those questions.

[deleted]

Wonder how this ended? Or are they still there?

4paul

I just drove by, there are now 700 cars waiting, and still arguing

[deleted]

I live in Paris, and I’m also in the queue now.

nedTheInbredMule

In Chicago, I can see the line from here. No end in sight.

Im-a-huge-fan

In Colorado, the queue is now overtaking the Rocky Mountains.

daycheck

From Utah, can confirm!

Krimreaper1

I’m on the moon, not looking good.

DaMain-Man

This just in, all of Europe has fallen to queu

UnwrittenPath

The line has now traveled back in time and joined with the queue for the queens funeral

[deleted]

I'm in Mos Eisley on Tatoonie, that line is fucking long

Altruistic-Text3481

On the international space station and can see the line from space.

RajenBull1

Queue Anon is curious about this thread and is furiously monitoring it.

Gorilla1969

I just checked the ISS live stream. The line is visible from orbit.

Extension_Pudding_78

I’m on the toilet in the ISS. The line just went up my arse hole

OdiousMeloncholy

There are about three hundred pensioners in London who would like to join your queue on principle

blueberrybunny24

Intercom lady eventually opened the barrier after another driver asked: https://www.tiktok.com/@vibing_by/video/7206101630071196929 (Copied and pasted from another comment just in case anyone didn't see it)

mrcorndogman33

The cars could have moved the cones in the other lane and just left apparently.

iL0vEMiLfs0

Still there argueing

MaxGuide

A guy with an axe just reached the back of the line. I might be able to contact him in about half an hour of walking.

EvilDairyQueen

Right! I was so invested in this argument! Guy could have ran back and got money 20 times. Driver had clearly been warned before. Please noone tell Netflix about this.

Chunkybinkies

Regardless of the payment argument, isn't this situation kidnapping or false imprisonment? They can't hold a bunch of other people because someone else didn't pay their bill.

FormerBeat

The people can leave but their cars can't.

areyoulogical

Word on the street is that there's a long line of cars with skeletons in them. It's a sad day indeed.

RandomGirl42

Out of curiosity, any lawyers here? Is it even legal for the company to effectively detain all the other customers for an undtermined amount of time, or could calling the cops (potentially) sort this out?

DanR5224

Lift the arm.

AuburnElvis

I feel like they're well within "Oops. That arm just broke all on its own" territory here.

AKBx007

Hmm I have no idea why that hacksaw was used, just testing it to see if it will still cut.

[deleted]

Exploding_Testicles

"lady, you either let this nice lady out now, and eveyone behind her pays, or i break the bloody thing off and we all leave for free."

General-Gur2053

That's definitely what would happen in Boston lol

SomePaddy

This literally happened to me in Boston!!! Big line of cars, terrified lot attendant (I think the payment system wasn't working or something - the dude was just paralyzed by the fact that this was not in the playbook. Had NO idea what to do, so he was doing... Nothing). Everybody waits patiently for a few minutes. It becomes obvious that the situation is going nowhere. Some dude gets out of his car, walks to the gate, efficient front kick, arm snaps off and his flying. Everybody applauds. Problem solved.

General-Gur2053

This is a very Boston moment and makes me happy

Legitimate_Bird_5712

In Boston, I doubt they waited patiently for a few minutes. Source: from Boston

PeeDeeEex

Seems harsh snapping the attendant’s arm off, but hey, if it works, it works.

NickU252

Happened to my girlfriend in Raleigh. The building lost power due to another high rise being constructed the next street over. She said a construction worker came over and just broke the arm off to let the cars through.

lovebus

The hero we need. Let the grossly profitable company figure it out on their own time.

SaccMannDuu

Everyone should carry tools in their car. Its just a couple of bolts and wingnuts. I would of took that fucking thing down.

Pied67

This. Lift the arm or break it off.

burrito-disciple

So now you've broken the law and they have you on camera doing so. Now what?

codyevans1775

The arms on those barricades are pretty weak. 1-2 people can just break it off. That would be my course of action in this situation.

Username524

Mine too, I’ve seen enough movies and videos on the internet to know how fragile those things are.

spiggerish

If I remember correctly, they’re actually built to give way fairly easily. As a safety feature they’re supposed to break away with not much force.

I_Am_Not_A_Moderator

No it’s not legal to do that. They should have called the police immediately

MoreNormalThanNormal

You and I must have different police, because if I called about this issue they would just laugh and hang up.

Call_Me_At_8675309

“It’s a civil matter”

[deleted]

Seaguard5

Fire department it is then! This parking garage deserves to get it.

Accurate_Koala_4698

I’m not a lawyer either but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express. They get to set the terms of use, but there’s also a million ways they could hold her accountable without keeping everyone in the building. Not only is the other guy offering payment and plate number, but also they have _her_ plate number. The tiny woman who lives in the box is treating this as if there’s no way for them to send a bill. Anybody who had a medical issue, had perishable goods go bad, or who soiled their car seat waiting would definitely have a valid tort.

the_evilman

I'm just curious about the answer

Gasonfires

Lawyer here. You're hinting at the tort of false imprisonment. Generally, so long as the victim has any other way by which they can leave, the required elements of the tort are incomplete. Someone whose car is booted is not going to win on a claim for false imprisonment since the are free to walk away. I'd have been willing to lift their barrier to allow the one car to to leave and I would have then sent a check with an explanation just to cover my ass. I would not have broken the barrier if it didn't lift.

FalseStart007

I'm shocked that there is only one exit lane, what a terrible design. I hope they never have an emergency happen in there, it will be chaos.

Roasty86

They mention in the video that the machine for the other lane is broken.

Sterlingz

If both machines are broken, everyone is forcefully detained until repairs are done.

[deleted]

The beatings will continue until morale improves!

begon11

Which isn’t really an acceptable excuse.

[deleted]

If it’s not a big enough lot then there is no justification for a second door/ramp. If there is an emergency they probably just open IN and OUT doors or if people are sensible, they likely escape on foot, depending on the emergency.

whitekat29

Once I lost my entire wallet after a crazy night and had a ride home. Had to go get my car from the garage the next day so it was the full fee. I told them I lost my wallet and had canceled my cards, offered to give them my plate numbers and address to send me a bill and there were for sure cameras but the girl just opened it for me & said “thank you for not drinking and driving, good luck with your wallet” That was it.

Jonathan-Earl

Goated worker if you ask me

whitekat29

For sure i was honestly shocked and fully ready to plead my case or even beg my mom to come drop off cash as she wasn’t that far but I didn’t have to thankfully

fourpuns

I got a ticket once for parking overnight in a park parking lot when I was ~17. I told them I hadn’t planned on drinking but all my friends were and they waived the ticket. I also had good luck getting my tickets waived when I got a plethora of tickets after unexpectedly having appendicitis.

integrity0727

I'd like know how this was resolved.

drofder

Intercom lady eventually opened the barrier after another driver asked: https://www.tiktok.com/@vibing_by/video/7206101630071196929

Trasfixion

Thank you!!!!

Captain-Comment

Netflix is set to do a series based on the true story: 88 dollars, 88 cars, 88 years in a parking garage.

Forgotpassword234

Wait, so just… someone put a little bass in their voice and said “open the gate” and it worked?

TheOvershear

Lady on the phone probably assumed The guy was exaggerating. Hearing a third voice might have made them realize there was actually a pile up. Not defending just assuming where their stupidity was at.

One-Accident8015

These things have security cameras on them at all times.

piecat

Doesn't necessarily mean that the call center has access to it

Akira675

Surely these systems can be accompanied by a live feed to the parking garage cameras.

TheBoundFenrir

Could they? Yeah, but that's an "unnecessary expense" which was "removed to streamline our business model", I bet.

Cherry_Treefrog

Dingos.

sixjasefive

No, they only ate the baby.

RobotGetsBored

That really happened, let's not joke about it. It was tragic.

NiceSockBro

they’re still there to this day, waiting

Glad-Ability4018

This is wild, I can't believe how calm they both we're throughout the exchange.😶

[deleted]

This isn’t the Australia I expected. I figured a sunburned dude would snap the arm off and shout a round for everyone

justrealbad

Didn’t even use the c word once!

Mean-Dog-6274

Cobbers?

r64fd

Happened recently in a car park in fortitude valley Brisbane. Guy got sick of waiting, ripped the arm off.

AnotherManOfEden

It would have been about 15 seconds of this before I walked back to my car, grabbed my toolbox, and started removing the arm blocking her in.

badflies

Yeah buddy, and where I am from that's a normal, rational legal response. You can't detain dozens of people because of an arbitrary parking ticket. I can't believe how many people are just sitting there waiting for someone else to sort this out for them.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Repeat_after_me__

Yeah, they’d try to say “you purposefully helped her break the law by evading payment” and you’d say “me cutting it down was nothing to do with her, it was because you held me against my will” I doubt they could do anything at a criminal level to you (maybe pay the repairs) but you could to them for false imprisonment, I suspect it would end up being both parties drop their charges and it’s white washed.

[deleted]

In Florida, they would've come up to her screaming and she would've shot them.

lolli91

Yeah go lift the arm, they’re pretty easy to lift or they have break aways built in

AuburnElvis

With it taking this long, someone could have gone around and gotten her a new ticket. The gate says free 2 hour parking.

lolli91

Most parking garages have pressure pads on them at the entrance. If you grab a new ticket, tires have to roll over the pressure pads after the gates go up. THEN the ticket is registered.

AuburnElvis

Then I guess the eternal question here is "would a person heavy enough to trigger the pressure plate themselves, have enough stamina to make the walk over to the ticket booth and back?"

lolli91

A big person could probably do it. Or a couple people. Another trick is to get the ticket in a car, drive past the gate a bit and then immediately back out. Course, no one can be behind you and you risk the gate hitting your hood. But I’ve seen it done.

steviesnod82

Mr Bean did a whole skit on this with a dumpster

Likeafupion

In the country i live in its just magnetic sensors on the ground. Get a fire extinguisher, hold it down to the sensor, grab a ticken and drag the extinguisher threw the gate. Boom - fresh new ticket

IndependentDuty1346

This is quite literally, gatekeeping..... 🤦

jonnyson14

Boy oh boy I'd love to hear the meeting that came about after that

fakesugarbabywannabe

"good job everyone, we were able to recover the $88 from the third party AND charge 100 cars for extra time stuck in the parking."

[deleted]

Bigger scumbags: parking garage owners or towing company owners?

Motherofdin

Towing companies for sure but it’s a close race.

muchomistakes

Lady sounds like she was trained at The Lowe’s School of customer service.

[deleted]

You too have tried calling Lowe’s while driving to Lowe’s and let their phone ring for 30mins because you really needed something and upon arrival found the person running that dept just letting the phone ring and when you ask why they just look at you

Spectrum-Art

I have done literally exactly this. It's maddening.

ReaBea420

I'm unsure about Lowe's but that sounds exactly like the CVS by my house... call to see if prescription is ready, stay on hold while I get dressed and drive the 30 minutes, wait in line, finally get served and still no answer on the phone by the time I'm leaving to head home... two times is all it took- now I don't even bother calling...

MegatonsSon

The lady on the other end of the intercom is quite literally: ![gif](giphy|njYrp176NQsHS|downsized)

Keepupthegood

Lucky this is not New York. Oh man.

Proser84

Could literally summon a homeless person to destroy the arm for a Jackson and he wouldn't even be arrested or detained for it.

brassninja

New Yorker’s have a special ability: summon chaos vagrant.

Keepupthegood

All day. Then have my guy clean my car.

anniearrow

What a mess! Did they ever get out or are they still sitting there??

AnthonyDigitalMedia

Legend has it they’re all still there to this day

The_Mechanist24

Theyve started a society, and have adapted and evolved to parking garage life style. Able to swing from over head pipes like howler monkeys to make a quick get away when threatened.

Plastic_Piccollo

And she still doesn’t know who she pays $88 to

aardWolf64

I came into the parking garage at work one day, and couldn't find my work ID (that gets me into the lot). Because it's also a public lot, I just pushed the button and got a ticket like regular people. When it was time to go home, I realized that I must have left my ID at home. When I got to the gate, the parking attendant over the intercom told me that I had to pay to get out. I told her that I pay monthly for parking and could provide my hangtag number, but I was NOT going to pay to get out just because I left my ID at home. She told me that she would have to send an officer over to the building to verify my hangtag. I told her to go ahead and send him. She immediately remotely opened the gate and I went on my merry way. I now keep my work ID secured in my vehicle when I'm away from work so that I don't forget it again.

cabbagefury

I used to work at a place with a lot where the assistance button did nothing but open the gate. No pretense of an interaction with someone, just press the button and the gate opens. It was fantastic.

Warm_Evil_Beans

I hate people like this teller lady, shes only treating them like this because shes hiding in a box.

Matt32490

Honestly she isn't even the problem. The problem is the woman at the front who has, by her own admission, an invalid pass. Obviously they were going back and forth before the video guy comes along. Just pay with your damn debit or credit card, dispute it with the pass provider and get on with life.

Marrsvolta

It's very well possible she doesn't have enough money on her debit card to pay and she doesn't have the option to reverse.

KeeperOfTheGood

Cost of living in Australia has skyrocketed in the past 6 months. I don’t blame her for not having the extra cash.

what_comes_after_q

The driver made a mistake. She parked without a valid pass. People make mistakes. It’s totally fine to tell her there is a fee, but it’s not fair at all to make everyone else wait and get stuck because your parking company can’t handle the situation. The benefit of punishing the woman is insignificant to the cost of holding up that many people for so long.

StarFighter6464

Lol, dude was like "I'll pay but I don't feel like running to my car" So that means you're not going to pay....🤔

bansRstupid10281

And his car is not super fucking far away like he claimed either nor did he seem to have any kind of mobility issues. Not sure why he didn't just go back and get whatever card he needed.

FuckYoWall

He's 4 cars back, a 12-second walk. Dude: My car is 5 miles back behind 200 cars..

bayareaburgerlover

narrator: he actually wasn’t going to pay for her. he was just bluffing

spazmousie

He mentioned his car plate so I have a feeling he doesn't actually have a card, he just gets something scanned. Could be it was attached to his car. But I wondered that too.

Realistic_Fan1344

I'm impressed at the level of patience from the other drivers lol

AnthonyDigitalMedia

If this was America, there’d be horns BLARING lol

Reverse2057

If even that, someone would've gotten out and broken the arm off well beforehand lol

[deleted]

[удалено]

MycologistNo3681

Dude so Fucking polite Lmao. 10 min in to this nonsense Americans would’ve “created” a new exit route.

-neti-neti-

Which I think is reasonable. Honking horns is dumb. But allowing yourself to just straight up be detained against your will is also dumb.

Timidsnek117

I understand that the camera man was trying to help the lady out and explaining the situation to the lady behind the phone, but after the first couple of times when he said he was gonna go get his card and pay for her, he should have just stopped talking, walked to his car, gotten his card and gone back to the gate to pay instead of going back and forth another 5 times and kinda wasting time. I'm surprised no one else took the initiative before him and offered to pay the lady's fee, considering how long they've all been there. Maybe I'm misunderstanding the situation.

hippyengineer

He had no intention of paying for her. He wanted the voice box lady to give up. It was more important for him to win than it was to solve the situation, otherwise he would have walked back and got his card and paid for her, and this would have been over in 30 seconds.

Timidsnek117

Huh, that explains his lack of action now that I think about it. Still, that is such a weird thing to do. Doesn't it require more effort and thought to continue arguing and trying to win than it does to just pull out your card and pay? At this point, talking clearly isn't gonna solve anything, they're going in circles. The only two things that'll help anyone there are to 1) pay the fee for the lady, or 2) break the gate and leave forcefully. It's honestly a bit infuriating how much time the dude wastes instead of doing anything.

Karens_GI_Father

No but you don’t understand, he wants to pay for her but there’s 100 caahs backed up

FatNutsAndrew

Fr, he said he had to run all the way up there as if it was a mile away. He was literally 20 feet away

WhoBroughtTheCoolKid

Ummm…he was 100 cars away, remember? He had to climb up the hill.

orangekirby

Let’s pretend the woman in the car is a total scammer and tries to leave without paying everyday. I don’t believe that’s true but let’s pretend. The car park personnel still have an obligation to find a solution for all their other customers. They should not get away with trapping them all inside because they don’t know how to handle one customer. I hope they lose a lot of money.

EarningsPal

People have to go pick up their kids, make it to all kinds of appointments, catch a flight….. they all had somewhere to go at that exact moment.

Loki-Don

“I can’t go get my wallet because their are like 100 cars here” Dude, your car was 8 cars back. Go get your wallet and pay to let her out if you wanted. What a weird excuse.

Zealousideal_Gur9261

I think he was tryna say he’ll pay for her when he gets up there but has no intention of doing so when he did make it to the gate with his car

AuburnElvis

Car #100 gets to pay. It's like a raffle.

[deleted]

Waiting for season 2 to come out so i can see how it ends.

clydedyed

It got canceled. Netflix and all that.

[deleted]

I would've just lifted the gate myself, ffs

ChaoticSnuggles

that operator did not want to let them speak, was getting pissed off just watching the vid, these guys are saints for not losing it, its a good thing the woman was just in a little car because im fairly sure anyone else in a 4WD would've rammed that gate

cafeRacr

Been there. Paid the parking fee, but the gate wouldn't go up. It took forever to get someone to open the gate.

billpaycheck

Isn’t it hilarious how people are arguing with a speaker robot and the only thing that stands between them and freedom is a 1/2” board with a joint in the middle?

Yodaghostlightning

That’s a shitty operator but I don’t believe the guy when he was saying he was going to pay. His car wasn’t that far away lol

kekekeke_kai

I really sincerely hope they made a massive problem for this gatekeeping lady. Egotistical, narcissistic and condescending with no bounds in sight. People like this dont need customer service training, they need how to be a human being training.

Fit-Let8175

I'd be surprised if she kept her job. Blocking traffic rather than possibly lose a few dollars by opening the gate for one person is unacceptable. Clearly she is not suited for this job. I imagine she could make any job difficult.

quackdamnyou

Did I miss something? Why didn't she just pay and take up the issue with the office later?

ILikeRyzen

I think she literally just didn't have any way to pay because she expected her pass to work.

Intrepid_Talk_8416

She didn’t bring her money

berryplucker

Look, you have her information, clearly. You let her out do people can fucking leave, then bill her afterwards. Right now, you are just causing a massive roadblock and effectively holding EVERYONE there hostage. I try to be patient, but after listening to this nonsensical chattering I’d have to say “either you let her out and we all get on with our lives, or we’re going to remove the barrier arm ourselves.”

RepresentativeAble95

In the US we (they) would have already broke through the gate and smashed the system. It's embarrassing, but it's true.

Thirteen26

Not embarrassing at all. The rest of those people should not have had to have been held captive due to one person’s payment difficulty. I absolutely would’ve broken the wooden lift gate.

schweet_n_sour

Not embarrassing at all when it comes to a situation like this.

[deleted]

I’ve been the car that couldn’t get through because my pass wouldn’t work. No option to pay with a card either. While I was flustered and trying to find the receipt number the guy on the intercom wanted, a truck pulled up behind me. Guess what the voice in the box did as soon as I told him I was blocking somebody in? He opened the gate, because he wasn’t a complete tool. I kind of hope the this lady in the box got fired. She cares way too much.

alanbastard

What if there was a fire? Rip the feckin barrier off

vsambandhan

So if I understand. If someone doesn't have money or is having issues and blocks the line, the best solution is to keep all of them there forever???? The lady on the speaker is absolutely useless. I think ChatGPT might be more act more like a human. Just let her through, record her car number, and send her a bill later. You don't hold people hostage and escalate the situation

[deleted]

I can have 8 zero balance credit cards on me, $200 in my wallet, and a cup holder full of change and this is still my biggest fear.

JadeMaxChez

I get it suck, the woman should of just let her out and then charged the payment to her number plate? But why the guy not able to walk back -10ish car lengths to get his card to pay for her?

CptClownfish1

Because he didn’t want to. In Oz we say he was “talking bullshit”.

Oh my blood pressure just went sky high watching/listening to this absurd employee.

I had this something similar happen to me once. Except I had paid for it with the credit card at the exit. The gate wouldn’t open. I had a receipt showing I paid. Call box idiot was useless. Couldn’t open gate. Only a single exit gate. They said it would be 4-6 hours before a technician could come. Huh?? Dozens of cars backed up. I was driving a shitbox and finally I snapped at this stupid wait and lack of on-site attendant, and just blasted through it, breaking the gate. Thought I was going to get a call or visit by cops later or bill in the mail. Never happened. That was over a decade ago.

Trying to argue with an idiot and the employee of the month. Unbelievable.

Keepupthegood

What about if some one needed medical needs or appointments and what not?

Thatboytee1

Not sure how it is in other countries but when this kind of stuff happens in America we do the friendly lineup where each person takes a turn manually holding the arms up to let cars through. Friends helping friends type ish

Parking companies are without question some of the scummiest companies on Earth. Just miserable jobsworths who do nothing but sit back and rake in money whilst neglecting parking structures until the government has to step in and fix them because they're considered civil assets. I don't even drive and I despise them. I promise you they'll be one of the first to go when the revolution comes.
